Charged after 2 year old disappeared 10 years ago !    How sad.

Parents face court over cold-case murder of Logan toddler

March 17, 2017 10:00 am/in National /by Rebecca Dakin
The parents accused of murdering their young toddler nearly a decade ago in Logan have appeared briefly in court.

Dina Colleen Bond, 43, and Shane Arthur Simpson, 49, were charged on Thursday over the death of 22-month-old Baden Bond, who hasn’t been seen since March of 2007.

Police revealed overnight they believe Baden was murdered by his parents sometime between March 26 and May 17 at Woodridge that year.

He wasn’t officially reported missing until last year and his body has never been found.

The pair appeared briefly in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on Friday.

They were remanded in custody and the case will return to court on April 10.

EARLIER 17/3/17 5:47AM | Police have charged a man and a woman over the cold case murder of a Logan toddler, who went missing a decade ago.

A 43-year-old Woodridge woman and a 49-year-old man, from Toormina on the NSW north coast, are both due to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on Friday morning charged with the murder of 22-month old Baden Bond.

The toddler was last seen at his family’s Woodridge home on March 27, 2007.

Police believe Baden was killed sometime between March 26 and May 17 2007 at Woodridge or elsewhere in the state of Queensland.

It comes just days after Queensland police made an desperate appeal to the public for information regarding Baden’s dissappearance.

Detective Inspector Damien Hansen said on investigators had been unable “to find any evidence of Baden existing” after March 27, 2007.

“Someone out there must know what happened to a two-year-old child,” he told media on Wednesday.

Baden’s family moved to NSW just six months after the little boy’s disappearance but he was not reported missing to authoritites until 2016.

Det Insp Hansen said the family had given police “a number of versions” as to where Baden was, but he has never been found.

With a name like that, I think I'd have run away from home!

Of course I hope that all will be well here.

P.S. She's safe.

Nothing online about it though.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4364932/Elizabeth-Smart-kidnapping-similar-Tennessee-teen.html

Elizabeth Smart's father says student, 15, snatched by teacher, 50, is like his daughter and being 'manipulated' by her captor as $10K reward is being offered to teen if she escapes
Edward Smart, whose daughter Elizabeth was kidnapped in 2002, said that there are many similarities between her case and that of Elizabeth Thomas
He said that the men who snatched the young girls used manipulation to keep them under their spell and afraid to run off or seek help
Smart was just 14 when she was taken from her bedroom at knifepoint on June 5, 2002 by Brian David Mitchell from her bedroom in Utah
Thomas, 15, was stolen from her family by her teacher Tad Cummins earlier this month
A former co-worker of Cummins is offering a $10,000 reward to Thomas if she escapes from her captor and returns home

How I hate the word "stolen" being used to describe humans rather than property!

I won't go into how dodgy the Elizabeth Smart case is.

As for the new "theft" here's a report in The Sun - it's a theft from the whole community!

Here is the GoFundMe link.

It is unusual for mothers not to be given custody of their children. Obviously we need to hear both sides of the story with independent witnesses.

Thanks for posting that, DDL.

Hope they find the little lad.

Maybe this should not be included in the 'abduction nonsense' thread though and moved to the 'missing children' thread, Mods?

Done.

I just read another article about it.

It looks initially that the parents last saw him at bed time and then he left for school before they woke up/checked (as it's believed he was wearing his uniform) except he didn't turn up for school.

Will see what develops with this one, but hope he's found safely and quickly. Probably just fancied a day off school.
