Re: *UPDATE*- Express Story Pulled? - NOW BACK ONLINE!
IIRC at the time, Kate and Gerry said yes, they would return to do a reconstruction but then the Tapas friends said no, we won't go (and they came up with some lame excuses) and that was how Kate and Gerry got out of going back to Portugal to do the reconstruction that the PJ wanted the first time around.

Just returned home with the paper version. It is the story about the new book that is actually on the front page, accompanying the Fresh Agony headlines is the also prominent sub heading "After court battle, former Portuguese police chief plans a second book on missing Madeleine". Excellent advert, and giving the author great credibility by referring to him as the police chief who worked on the case.
Page 5 is a full page dedicated to Goncalo, headlining with the Reconstruction story and a large image of that rather lovely photo of him. There's also a small photo of a rather wan-looking K and G.
It really does feel quite shocking to see the names of all the Tapas crew in black and white, together with Jeremy Wilkins and Martin Smith, all in one never-before-seen handy couple of paragraphs.
Hope people get Googling.
Very impressive edition. Do wonder why the online version was pulled even temporarily as the paper edition was already being distributed anyway.

Definitely a good article - and such a change in tone. Kudos to James Murray for the respectful tone and general lack of hysteria and BS we're so used to.
It occurs to me that some of the changes in press behaviour we're currently seeing may also in part be a reflection of a changed relationship between the UK media (papers really) and the police on the back of the Hillsborough verdicts. I think there may be many axes to grind and scores to settle there, and cases such as this could be used in power struggles now that dynamics and relationships may have altered significantly.
For now anyway - nice to see an article such as this. Shows Jerry Lawton up for the waste of space he is....

The latest edition of Private eye reports that the the law firm Carter Ruck in an attempt to keep the lid on the celebrity threesome saga
told the court last week that they have been " assiduous in monitoring the internet and taking steps, wherever possible,to secure that offending information is removed from URL's and web pages".

What a day !
Love the Express article, reads as an informative, facts, not the emotional one-sided bulls**t the public have been fed for all these years.
At last Goncalo is reported with the respect he has always deserved.
Finally information in print as well as on LBC, what a May Day
I'm so glad the T9 have been named, just to remind people who they are, google is your friend.
Storms forecast in Rothley perhaps ??
After all these years of lies and misinformation I am beginning to have faith in the truth becoming known.

If you look at things in a glass full way then how about since OG started they requested the media to act how we've seen while they conducted the investigation etc?
My thinking here would be re: Katie Hopkins saying she was silenced by the Sun but that wouldn't have stopped her tweeting or talking on LBC so just wonder either someone scary enough to keep Katie quiet or a polite request from OG to keep quiet until they give the go head?

Operation Grange did ask for this at the very beginning of their review....

TB seems to have turned on Dr Amaral now, as others say. Dr Amaral arranged for the Smiths to return to Portugal and draw up an e-fit which, tellingly, TM suppressed for 5 years. Therefore Dr Amaral will have a pretty good idea of how reliable the family are as witnesses. Much more than TB. He has met them and spoken with them. Plus walked along the route they took and seen at first hand where the family passed him in the street.
If the Smith sighting was irrelevant or even fabricated as TM seems to be suggesting then surely TM wouldn't have suppressed it for so long? They would have used it to lay another false trail, surely, if they knew it wasn't important.
In one way or another I think the FACT that the Smiths e-fit was suppressed for as long as five years by TM is EVIDENCE that it was unwelcome. And the FACT that Kate McCann is desperate enough to morph the Smith sighting into Tannerman, despite the 45 minute gap between the sightings is EVIDENCE as far as I am concerned that the Smithman sighting is unwelcome. TM will not allow it to remain as a 'stand alone' sighting - he has to be one and the same as Tannerman.
Of course the above does not prove that the Smiths did not make up the sighting - for instance to help out Murat or to incriminate GM as they had insider knowledge of culpability, say - but it does prove that the sighting, whether real or not, was unwelcome.

Exactly Candyfloss and is the only way I could see Katie keeping quiet. I'm sure the Sun did stop her but also a little hint of a lot more to this.
The next few weeks could be explosive...and not just about the obvious.

Playing catch up but a what a wonderful bank holiday weekend it's been so far. In more ways than one.
Except if your a McCann or a Clarence or a Tapas bod that is.
Been an absolute 'disaster' for them.
