What a tragedy that a diver has died in the rescue attempt.

Being claustrophobic, I can't think of much worse things than being trapped like this. Okay, they can't be or they wouldn't have gone in the first place.

I hope and pray that will all come out safely .also the man that took them in ,was it not a strange place to go ?What a lot of very brave men and women I think too,to take on such a risky thing . joyce1938

Brilliant news.

I feel really sorry for the coach, what an awful thing to have happen when you have taken on responsibility for a group of children.

Compare the way the Thai authorities have handled the aftermath of this case to various other cases covered by the UK media. How thoughtful to show the boys and their coach with a picture of the diver who died trying to help them. You can see that the boys and their coach have thought about how someone died in an effort to try to help them.

How thoughtful that the Thai authorities are controlling the media exposure for all concerned.

I see team effort and team work and collective responsibility. With no blaming or scapegoating.

And a recognition that all concerned have gone through a terrible experience.

Some dignity, in other words.

Did we ever see that in the Madeleine McCann case? Were the twins protected from media glare? Did their parents protect them? Was there proper counselling given that they had lost their sibling in the most horrible circumstances?

ETA: The coach probably wanted to have an adventure with the boys and knew they would be really excited by exploring the caves. He was young and made an error of judgement.

My nephew died from sepsis after returning to the UK from having lived in Thailand.
At the autopsy it was discovered that his lungs were full of spores found in these caves.
He was a very healthy and fit young man who loved and participated in many sports, one being diving and caving.
