I can't access that link - perhaps it's being updated. I'll have another go later

Can I suggest that if anyone comes across a newspaper article that is supportive of the McCanns in any way, that they copy the link and the article in full over to this site.

I would rather not reward the press by clicking on their sites when they print the usual McCann guff Mad

'WE'LL REPORT TROLLS TO COPS' Madeleine McCann parents pledge to report all online ‘ghouls’ who ‘overstep the mark’ to police – days after Karen Danczuk’s startling Twitter rant

Kate and Gerry McCann fear they will be subjected to an even bigger outpouring of internet hate as the heart-wrenching tenth anniversary approaches in May
EXCLUSIVE
By Tracey Kandohla
10th March 2017, 11:26 am Updated: 10th March 2017, 11:27 am

MADELEINE McCann’s parents have vowed to report “malicious and offensive” trolls to cops as the torrent of online abuse rises in the run up to the tenth anniversary of her disappearance.

Kate and Gerry McCann fear they will be subjected to an even bigger outpouring of internet hate as the heart-wrenching milestone approaches in May.

Last Sunday selfie queen Karen Danczuk sparked fury by claiming the couple “have guilt” in an astonishing Twitter tirade on Kate’s 49th birthday.

She said: “Anyone who says McCanns are innocent, just remember they left 3 children under the age of 4 alone to go out. Either Way they have guilt! KD”.

Former glamour model Jodie Marsh recently launched a similar attack, slamming the McCanns while apparently watching investigative journalist Mark Williams-Thomas revealing his latest theory on the case on ITV’s This Morning.

She tweeted: “In my opinion it’s all going to come crashing down for the McCanns…

“I must admit, if it were my child I’d be on my hands & knees digging up the earth with my bare hands! Nothing else would matter.”

“They are now filtering, with the aid of their official representative and friends, any cruel and offensive material which oversteps the mark to pass on to police to assess. Malicious communication is an offence.

“People seem to be saying whatever they want which is the eyes of the law could be deemed a criminal offence. There is a constant and growing activity by these ghouls and it’s a disgrace.

“It continues to anger and upset Madeleine’s family.”

Her parents Kate and Gerry McCann have never given up hope of finding her alive
The McCanns, from Rothley, Leics, are targeted by up to 150 abuse tweets every day, most of them sent by women, research found.

Psychologist Dr John Synott said: “Most trolling behaviour has a lifespan of a couple of days. But the McCann case has been going on for nearly ten years and you cannot see the abuse ever ending.”

The couple’s spokesman Clarence Mitchell told The Sun Online: “Any threatening and malicious communication will immediately be forwarded to the police for them to investigate and to act upon where necessary."

Mr Mitchell has also been bombarded with abuse himself for representing the family.

Former GP Kate, whose hope of finding her daughter alive never fades, has previously said: “We’ve had lots of abuse over the years. People wouldn’t get away with behaving like that in the street and yet they feel they can hide behind a computer at home. They’re cowards.”

Much of the online abuse against the McCanns comes from women, research found
Kate revealed that while she and heart doctor husband Gerry, 48, try to ignore the negative comments posted on Twitter and chat forums, some are too malicious to forget.

The anguished mum said in an TV interview with Lorraine Kelly: “It’s the internet abuse that is so damaging and we both feel really strongly that more should be done about it.”

Gerry has in the past hit out at trolls targeting his family with threats of violence and kidnapping, and said he worries about his 12-year-old twins Sean and Amelie using the internet.

He told BBC Radio 4’s Today programme: “There have been instances where people are threatening to kidnap our children. People are threatening violence against Kate and myself.

“Of course it’s not just us. It is many other people who happen to find themselves in rather tragic circumstances. I do think we need to make examples of people who are causing damage.”

Kate and Gerry also hit out at the “insensitive” way Madeleine was drawn into hit BBC drama The Moorside – based on the fake kidnap of Shannon Matthews.

Three-year-old Madeleine vanished from a holiday apartment in Praia da Luz, Portugal, on May 3, 2007, while her parents were dining nearby with pals.

British police are winding down their £13million probe, but Kate and Gerry have never given up hope of finding their daughter, who would now be 13.

If they don't like what's written about them, then don't read it. Simple. Concentrate on family life for the sake of the twins.

Sorry, but I don't believe their daughter was abducted.

Reading lies and propaganda in the national press makes my blood boil.

It's not though is it when you're discussing facts from the published Portuguese files.

Don't even get me started on what's a disgrace Mad

So anyway - in near 10 years who have the McCanns actually sued?

Goncalo's book of the truth aside and the newspaper spectacle many moons ago, then who?

And I don't mean the highly-publicised and extremely convenient case of a one Tony Bennett. Who has spent all his time since trying to discredit key witnesses and steering folk down rabbit holes.

So who have they sued?

Totally agree Andrew.

Gerry has in the past hit out at trolls targeting his family with threats of violence and kidnapping, and said he worries about his 12-year-old twins Sean and Amelie using the internet.

I bet he does and I feel so sorry for the twins if they read some of the official files.

Three comments so far......

McKenzie32 11 minutes ago
Hold your horses, what she ultimately said was had they not if left their 3 children alone there would not have been an opportunity for the child to have been kidnapped (if you believe that theory).

I'm sorry but i agree 100% with her comments. No, they didn't deserve what happened through their neglect but ultimately they are responsible.

When parents make reckless decisions, reckless outcomes occur. They are guilty of child neglect point blank.

Tell ya what McCanns, report me. Report me for being convinced Maddie came to harm due to your neglect and reckless behaviour.

Report me for personally finding your actions after the "disappearance" very odd to say the least.

Report me for believing the best trained Dogs in the world at what they do for marking your appartment, kate, the toy and your car -which you didn't even have when Maddie was still alive in your possession.

Or better still, forget reporting and spouting your version of events and take this lie detector test you was once so sure you wanted to take until it was actually offered to you?!

The only victim here is Maddie. Not an ounce of sympathy can i feel for two parents who let their child down so badly!

There's something very slimey about this couple. They give me the creeps

Why are we being classed as 'ghouls' if we have an opinion about their innocence or guilt?

I too believe they are guilty, come and lock me up.

Posting an honest opinion does not make you a troll.

Right, so, what's the difference between ghouls and trolls? Have they given people with their own opinions a new name? Disgusting is what they did when they left their precious children alone at night. Disgusting is not helping police to find a child. Disgusting is what their supporters tweeted to BL. IMO, cause I'm allowed!

Nah, it's empty threats.

Genuine threats of violence and/or kidnapping would have had the McCanns running screaming straight to the press ...then the police. And, as a matter of interest, how many times have they actually been physically or even verbally attacked in the last 10 years?

There was one silly remark wasn't there about someone threatening to shoot Kate?

Apart from that, I don't know of any incidents in the real world where anything has been said or done in the presence of the McCanns.

No, I have never seen anything like that.  If there had been such incidents we would never have heard the end of it.  Decent people have a right to say and discuss things, and at one time it would be in the pub, or shops, now it is on the internet, and yes, a lot more can view it, but you have to click and log in to do so, so your choice.  It is the papers fault for constantly reprinting these so called 'nasty' tweets and making them known to the public. It was the media that hounded Brenda Leyland, I have never seen such exposure to such a non story, every 15 mins or so on Sky news, and worldwide coverage.... it was totally uncalled for, there were far more pressing items  in the news that day.   We are led to believe the McCann's do not read or participate in social media, then why on earth are they making such a fuss and getting this all over the press?

It seems it's ok to question everything, monarchy, government etc. but mention this case and it is taboo.

I recall that it was this:

If I remember correctly, no action was taken by the police and the person explained it as referring to a starting pistol as she was running a marathon.

I have wondered the same thing for years i dont want any harm to come to them,i find it strange that as far as we are aware nobody says anything to them about what they did and have done since.I have also found it strange that nobody in the village says anything either.

If i seen them on holiday where i live i would find it hard not to say anything to them.

They have some friends who live a few roads away from me. I've never seen them but I know plenty of people who have seen them around the town. Even in the early days the reaction was to either ignore them completely or stare at them. I'm not aware of anyone ever having approached them. They have a hardcore of supporters (funnily enough made up of the people who sit in the front row at my church but don't start me on that), whereas most other people I know are very skeptical including a whole raft of Police Officers.

This story has just come out. Will stick it here:

http://www.sundayworld.com/news/first-irish-journalist-to-meet-mccanns-recalls-couples-devastation

“Pray for us,” she’d said in a whisper. Holding her hand in mine, with Cuddle Cat alongside, I felt what can only be described as a stop in time.
When little Madeleine McCann was snatched from her bed in a Portuguese holiday villa while her parents dined nearby, the story horrified and gripped the world.
The hysteria surrounding paedophiles preying on popular resorts reached fever pitch.
Irish mum and journalist Brenda Woods was holidaying nearby in the days after Maddie went missing. Having driven to the epicentre of the story she became the first Irish journalist to speak to Kate and Gerry McCann.
Here, as the tenth anniversary of Maddie’s baffling disappearance approaches, she recalls what it was like to be close to the events, and her haunting meeting with the McCanns.

After my decision to leave a family holiday in Alvor and go to Praia da Luz, it was as if everything I had read up until that moment had been condensed into one focal point.

I had finally got what I wanted all along – to meet Kate McCann.

And that was why the shock of seeing her and husband Gerry standing under the Portuguese sun filled my head with a temporary blur.

I was a parent as well and I was devastated for them in their moment.

During an encounter like this it can be difficult to maintain a professional stance and I did struggle to find a way through. Holding on to her hand, I began a mumbling conversation, noting the gold Celtic cross chain around her neck glinting in the sun.

“I’m from Ireland,” I muttered, and she nodded. Awkward was the feeling. Then a glimmer. “Oh, Ireland,” she said, and I anxiously remembered reading how the McCanns had enjoyed holidays in the West, and flashes of Maddie sitting on a wall with her cousins eating ice-cream sped in front of my mind.

The brief feeling of a damp, rain-soaked Donegal was inviting and calming and I wanted more than anything to be there.

All I saw was a woman whose heart had been ripped to pieces. And I was shocked by her light frame and slender wrists wrapped in plastic ‘Find Madeleine’ bracelets. The person in front of me was not the person I’d seen on TV. The one on TV seemed to be a solid, athletic woman, with a forthright husband by her side.

The person with me was a delicate, devastated woman.

Gerry put an arm around her. “We have had more letters of support from Ireland than anywhere else,” he said. “Ask people to keep us in their prayers.”

“They are,” I said, and as Kate’s hand slipped away from mine, returning to Cuddle Cat, she added: “Please pray for us.”

It had been three weeks since their four year-old daughter Madeleine had disappeared from their apartment at the Ocean Club and I was the first Irish journalist they had met.

I thought back a few days, to a time when my husband and myself had just settled into nearby Alvor – with both our children, aged three and five.

It was our second trip to Alvor in Portugal and it had been booked months ahead of the disaster that was to engulf the entire country and which would take in the rest of the world and leave a tidal wave of worry still staining it 10 years after the event.

For us, Portugal has always been a place of safety. The fact that our kids were ‘brought up’ on Portuguese beaches is a testament to how much we favoured the laid-back environment we felt ourselves in.

On that day in 2007, I took the morning off to go to Praia da Luz, to see if I could find out anything.

My husband had mixed views on the idea but knowing I would go once I set my mind to it, he waved me off in the taxi with words of caution to come home straight away if I felt upset.

The taxi man talked, as we would say here, the hind legs of the proverbial donkey, peppering the route with conversations about the houses along the road.

It was only as we neared Praia da Luz that he asked me what had brought me to the village?

I mentioned that I was a journalist trying to write a story about what had happened. At this point he drove the taxi into the centre of the square and stopped talking, making a very serious and sad face, just shaking his head. The light humour of the past 30 minutes evaporated.

I paid my fare and promised to be there in the same spot in an hour if he could return.

I was still somewhat in holiday mood and it only hit me when I turned around and noticed I was standing alongside the medieval Church of Nossa Senhora da Luz, the white and yellow edifice that I had seen countless times on the news and in the newspapers.

In the cool interior of the church I walked up the side aisle and came to a large photograph of Madeleine, to the left of the altar, with a row of candles beneath. I lit one, and said a prayer, and on my way out met a lady who told me the McCanns would be around later.

I had decided to walk down the sloped cobbled street towards the heavy rocks along the beach and follow the promenade path to the left which curved along the wide inlet.

The beach was peppered with bathers and sun-worshippers. The little cafes on the end of the walkway, leading off further into the town to the north, full of tourists, everyone with a sense of unease.

Walking back along the path I met with two Irish tourists, a husband and wife from Limerick who told me they were upset for the family. I found out the Ocean Club was nearby so I walked to it.

The Ocean Club seemed to sit like a large walled fish-bowl on a hill just a few yards from the sea. Very self-contained and luxurious.

I met a BBC reporter and felt sorry for his cameraman, carting that weight in this heat. There was going to be a press conference in an hour near the beach. I thought I’d be back in Alvor by then, sipping a nice drink. So I ended up walking alongside the cool white walls surrounding the Ocean Club and reached the gate. I looked up to the right along the steps and to the beginnings of the patio area to the family’s holiday home. To the left was a large expanse of wall and shrubbery.

On the road, a group of children went by with their minders, each child tentatively linked together with gentle wrist bracelets. I walked into the complex through the front reception door.

Glum tourists were waiting everywhere for their departure buses. Many yellow ribbons were directly outside the entrance. So many tied up, still others swaying limp in the cool breeze. No-one wanted to speak.

When I let go of Kate McCann’s hand outside the Church, much later on, I had watched as their press helper, Clarence Mitchell, guided them over to another camera crew who seemed to have appeared as if by chance.

Then I watched Maddie’s parents walk down to the coast and to those large sandy rocks.

They sat and I remained nearby, as they looked desolate into each other’s faces and a young boy tip-toed to their left, gingerly among the rocks with a small net, trying to catch minnows among the rock-pools.

I AM ABOVE UK LAW -DNA Planting by Portuguese police

I am South African Stephen D Birch who made world headlines on the Madeleine McCann case in 2012.

I have advised The McCann,s and 8 senior partners of Carter Ruck together with the principal of De Lisle College, that it my intention to advise Sean & Amelie McCann that there is a strong possibility that their sister Madeleine lies buried under the Murat driveway.

"The Sun" newspaper in collaboration with the UK government sought to shift the focus off the Murat property, because Portuguese police planted DNA in the McCann hire car, and compromised the case.

This evidence sits in 3 secret files held by Theresa May who was then the UK home secretary. The closing of the McCann case was a breach of the Treaty of Lisbon by Prime Ministers Jose Socrates & Gordon Brown - We will now pursue this matter in Portuguese courts.
