Operation Yewtree

The names of at least 12 public figures, including policemen and politicians, have been passed on to police investigating claims of historic sexual abuse.

Investigative reporter Mark Williams Thomas passed on the names to officers working under Operation Yewtree, the Metropolitan Police inquiry investigating sex abuse allegations in the wake of the Jimmy Savile scandal.

Thomas, who two years ago helped expose Savile as one of the most prolific paedophiles in British history by presenting a documentary first highlighting his abuse, said the new claims involve some "very powerful" people who are alleged to have committed sex abuse crimes between the 1950s and 1980s.

He added that unlike previous convictions such as Max Clifford, Rolf Harris, and Dave Lee Travis, none of the new suspects are celebrities but work for the government or local police.

He told the Sunday Mercury: "I know of another twelve public figures and that is a minimum. Sadly some of these people still remain untouchable because they are so powerful. Whilst huge progress has been made following Savile expose - some very powerful people still need to be brought to justice."

Beats me how he can say anyone in this country can be `untouchable`. It would mean such people could forever abuse children and get away with it.

What on earth do you think has been happening over the last thirty to forty years (at least)? Have you not noticed that, following Tom Watson's revelation to the house of commons of "clear intelligence suggesting a powerful paedophile network linked to Parliament and Number 10" that the only people arrested are z list celebrities and groping DJs. Not a single judge, senior police officer, senior civil servant or MP (serving or former) has been arrested. I'd say that's getting away with it wouldn't you?

Former Radio 1 DJ Chris Denning admits further charges of sexually assaulting young boys after being arrested under Operation Yewtree

Post  Guest on Fri 14 Nov 2014, 6:25 pm

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2834682/Former-Radio-1-DJ-Chris-Denning-admits-charges-sexually-assaulting-young-boys-arrested-Operation-Yewtree.html#ixzz3J4IwWQNg

Judge Alistair McCreeth vacated Denning's trial date and remanded him in custody. He is to be sentenced on December 9.

Mr Ubhey said: 'I am pleased that the guilty pleas mean a potentially lengthy trial has been avoided and the victims will not be required to give evidence.'

Dressed in a grey coat with orange shoulder pads, Denning looked frail and ill as he struggled to hear what was going on in the courtroom.

Denning suffers from a number of illnesses including Parkinson's disease and diabetes. He suffered a heart attack in 2009 and struggles to walk after fracturing his spine.

The former DJ was arrested in April last year by detectives from Scotland Yard's Operation Yewtree in the aftermath of the Jimmy Savile paedophile scandal.

His prosecution follows those of other celebrities such as Rolf Harris, Max Clifford and Dave Lee Travis.

Denning, who left the BBC in 1969, was first convicted for gross indecency and indecent assault in 1974, at the Old Bailey, but escaped imprisonment.

Before his conviction Denning had been working for Jonathan King's newly founded UK Records. King sacked him after the guilty verdict.

Since then Denning has been in and out of prisons in England and Europe, with sentences including 18 months in 1985, three years in 1988, three months in 1996, four years in a Czech prison in 1998, four years in 2006 and five years in jail in Slovakia in 2008.

Denning was part of a group of men, including former BBC radio DJ Jonathan King who preyed on young boys at the Walton Hop, a '70s teenage disco.

All offences related to sexual assaults on young boys or producing child pornography.

According to police some of these offences took place while he owned a computer shop in Dorset in the 1980s.

The boys would be lured to the computer shop, which sold Commodore computers, where he would offer them work and then take advantage of them.

One of the assaults took place in a camper van.

Denning left his London grammar school aged 15 and began his radio career at Radio Moscow after talking his way into the studios while on holiday.

As a young man he boasted of being a globetrotter who drove to India and broadcast from France, Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg, Portugal and Czechoslovakia.

He went on to work for Radio Luxembourg and Radio London before presenting Where It's At with Kenny Everett on the BBC's Light Programme.

In 1964 he was a BBC2 announcer whose voice was the first heard when the TV channel took to the air.

Three years later he became one of the original DJs on BBC Radio 1. After leaving the BBC he worked for record label Decca for two years.

Over the years he has lived in Bracknell, Berkshire, Addlestone and Weybridge in Surrey, and Teddington in South London.

When he was arrested in April 2013 he was living in a homeless shelter.

Shamed publicist Max Clifford 'arrested by Operation Yewtree officers over further sex offences'

Shamed publicist Max Clifford 'arrested by Operation Yewtree officers over further sex offences'

[*]Max Clifford 'arrested in connection with allegations of sexual offences'
[*]A 71-year-old was questioned at police station in Peterborough, police said
[*]Clifford was jailed for eight years after being convicted of indecent assaults
[*]Police have not identified man arrested, but Clifford was named on Twitter by journalist Mark Williams-Thomas, who exposed Jimmy Savile's crimes
[*]Scotland Yard said individual arrested was 'not new' to Operation Yewtree

[*]Disgraced PR guru Max Clifford has been arrested in connection with allegations of sexual offences by detectives from Operation Yewtree, it has been reported.
Scotland Yard said a 71-year-old had ben questioned at a police station in Peterborough.
Clifford, 71, was jailed for eight years last May after being convicted of a string of indecent assaults, carried out between 1977 and 1984, using his celebrity connections to lure women.
He currently serving his sentence at Littlehey Prison in Cambridgeshire, which is not far from Peterborough.
The former celebrity agent, who branded his accusers 'fantasists', denied the charges, but was convicted at London's Southwark Crown Court.
It is understood that today's arrest relates to a number of separate allegations of sex offences.
Following Clifford's sentencing last year, Scotland Yard confirmed that other people had come forward with allegations.
Police have not named the individual who was arrested today, but did say that the man was 'not new' to the Operation Yewtree investigation.
Clifford was named on Twitter by Mark Williams-Thomas, the man who exposed Jimmy Savile's crimes in an award-winning ITV investigation.
He posted: 'Max Clifford (71) arrested today re allegations of sexual offences,He was interviewed at a police station in Peterborough. #OP.Yewtree'.
Minutes later, he added: 'As previously stated today's arrest of Max Clifford relates to number of separate allegations of sex offences that CPS have been advising on.'

Mr Williams-Thomas, a former police officer who specialised in child protection and major crime, was the first person to expose Savile.
Operation Yewtree is the police probe set up in the wake of disclosures that former BBC DJ Jimmy Savile was a prolific paedophile.

The investigation has three strands of inquiry. One relates to Savile's crimes and the second relates to allegations against Savile and others.
The third strand, under which Clifford is understood to have been questioned, concentrates on accusations unconnected to the Savile investigations but which emerged as a result of the publicity surrounding the late DJ.
A Scotland Yard spokesman said it has spoken to 17 people as part of the Yewtree investigation.

[*]He said: 'This is not a new individual to Operation Yewtree. This is not an 18th individual.' Inquiries continue, he added.
Last month, Gary Glitter, who was the first person to be arrested under Operation Yewtree, became the fourth high-profile figure to be convicted under the investigation.
Former Radio 1 DJ Dave Lee Travis and children's entertainer Rolf Harris have also been found guilty of historic sexual offences.

I agree, he's a parasite always leeching onto abuse news like Jim Gamble as if they are some sort of experts.

Yet they don't see a problem with the most famous scam in recent years.

Goodness me! I recall a clip, possibly on YouTube, where MC explains that he's got the dirt on a lot of celebrities. Might that be because he took part in those events?

The corruption feeds upon itself. I do feel drugs are a part of this kind of thing, cocaine in particular.

I'm definitely not accusing MC of drug use. An observation on celebrity culture only.

This is the clip that Tigger mentions.

It was made some time prior to 2003 as there is a reference to Adam Faith who was then still alive.

The bit on Alan Clark is amazing and at the end 'I've got all the evidence..'   No morals though.

Andrew would know much better ways to describe this..........but it will have to be whooshed!

These people really do think they are untouchable. What an attitude to say "The only bad bit was he was interfering with those kids at 14."
I too have a word for them but it is unprintable.
Not so funny now Max!

Disgraced PR man Max Clifford could face fresh charges over new sex allegations

Published: 15:54, 16 June 2015  | Updated: 16:35, 16 June 2015

Jailed Max Clifford, 72, could face fresh charges over new sex allegations
PR guru sentenced to eight years in jail for historic sex offences last May
CPS confirmed today an arrest in March in relation to Operation Yewtree
Clifford lost an appeal for his prison sentence to be reduced late last year

Disgraced PR guru Max Clifford could face fresh charges over new sex allegations after the CPS was handed a file of evidence from police, it emerged today.

Reports earlier this year claimed that the 72-year-old publicist had been arrested after being questioned at a police station in Peterborough over fresh sex allegations.

He is currently serving an eight-year prison sentence at Littlehey Prison in Cambridgeshire, which is not far from Peterborough, after being found guilty last May of a string of indecent assault charges.

Following Clifford's sentencing last year, Scotland Yard confirmed that other people had come forward with allegations.

The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) confirmed today that the PR guru could now face further charges.

A spokesman said: 'The CPS has received a full file of evidence following the arrest of a 72-year-old man in Peterborough on 12 March in relation to Operation Yewtree.

'A decision will be made in due course.'

The CPS did not confirm Clifford's identity.

Clifford was the first person to be convicted under Operation Yewtree, the police investigation launched in the wake of the Jimmy Savile scandal.

He was convicted of a string of indecent assaults, carried out between 1977 and 1984, using his celebrity connections to lure women.
