Jill sounds a bit unsure herself. How can you tell if an e-mail address is genuinely that of the person concerned?

According to the email addresses supplied at registration it was Sergey - unless he lets other people have access to his emails because the activation links would go directly to him.

Have to admit it was all rather odd.

It is hard to distinguish real from false. Emails can be made to look real, and also come from other countries I believe. Plus you can also get proxy IP's for a country of your choice. So I don't know how you can tell and be sure.

That's what I thought. If it's just a case of an e-mail starting with a certain person's name, it could be anybody.

I remember that there was someone here in the early days who appeared to be George Galloway by the e-mail address but he certainly wasn't THAT one!

That's certainly the way it sounds - that he will feel better if he comes clean. I recommend that course of action to the McCanns and their friends too!

I think that Tony posted similar things on the forum when Sergey (or whoever) was still a member.
