Morning folks

Have any of you seen the tweets about Mirror DPA breach going to court?

Here are some of them from Laffin@mirroragain

Laffin@Mirror again‏ @veniviedivici 12h12 hours ago

Were you a member of #Mirror forums circa 2007/8 ? Did they print your comments, did they read your PM's, did they sell your DATA ? #McCann

So, going on what's coming out in court, about #Trinity #Mirror it's quite safe to assume they #broke #DP laws on #McCann forum in 2007/8

Unless I'm having a senior moment - which is quite possible - I don't remember hearing anything about this before.

Is there anyone here who was on the Mirror forum then?

I definitely read the Mirror forum back then. I think I joined and I think I commented on the McCann case, but I can't be certain. I was a lot less bold in those days.

Don't understand. Who is taking who to court over what exactly? I know what DPA stands for, but what has been leaked?

I don't know what is happening as this appeared on my twitter feed today. I have now started following laffin@themirror in case anything else is mentioned.
It looks like the Mirror breached some sort of DPA to do with the Mccanns.

It stands for Data Protection Act.....i assume

I've added that to the heading to avoid any doubt.

I think I only read/browsed the Mirror forum and not too long after I found it, it was shut down leading to the three A's being set up. If my memory serves me right TB posted on the Mirror forum? but it is a long time ago.....so may be wrong.

As for the Mirror story as with others here it is the first I've heard of it. I'm not sure if printing forum comments is illegal (presuming without permission of the user?) but reading PMs surely is a breach/crime if it can be proved?

The person behind the tweets is the infamous Sean Hyland, perhaps not the most reliable stable individual.

I presume that this is the current court case to which reference is made.
