The Staircase
Have any of you seen 'The Staircase', it's now on Netflix but has also been shown on BBC 4. I've just finished the last episode and it is absolutely gripping, it is the story of the writer Michael Peterson whose wife was found dead at the bottom of a staircase in their mansion in Durham, North Carolina. The BBC's 'Beyond Reasonable Doubt' also followed the case and I wondered what other people make of it?

There are a couple of these where the wife allegedly falls down the stairs, is this the one where the same thing happened to his other wife?
I haven't actually seen the Staircase, but seen many versions of this on Crime and Investigation channel and ID channel. A riverting case, must remind myself of it.
Here is one version of it..
And another...……

Re: The Staircase
Hi Candyfloss
Yes, one of the key things to come out during the investigation was that a close family friend, who had recently been widowed, fell down the stairs in almost identical circumstances and on both occasions, Michael Peterson was the last person to see the victim alive. He then became the legal guardian to the first victim's two small daughters and took control of her estate. It was a sister of the first victim who contacted police as she thought the similarities were too striking. Physically, the two women are so similar they could be twins. Thanks for the link I shall take a look.

Ah thanks, thought it was that one, I watch so many..
Here is another very similar..
David Ditto and his wife fell down the stairs....
I think he was sentenced to 25 years for killing his wife.

Re: The Staircase
It will be 20 years on 9th December since the death of Kathleen Peterson, a case which continues to attract interest today.
A video from last year on the case. The owl theory is a good one!
