Pope Francis declares evolution and Big Bang theory are right and God isn't 'a magician with a magic wand'

The theories of evolution and the Big Bang are real and God is not “a magician with a magic wand”, Pope Francis has declared.

Speaking at the Pontifical Academy of Sciences, the Pope made comments which experts said put an end to the “pseudo theories” of creationism and intelligent design that some argue were encouraged by his predecessor, Benedict XVI.

I thought the catholic church has already recognised evolution for a long time? A quick google has said for th past 60 years.

Seems you`re right Emerald, but apparently he`s gone further than Pope Benedict who said evolution alone cannot explain the complexity of the universe, or words to that effect.

P.S. Meant to say I don`t think a certain person will be too phased by what the Pope thinks anyway as he`s not to keen on the RCs.
