Andrew, your recollection is the same as mine, very good but confusing ending.

I will be watching and very interested to see if the mum who gets her daughter back, or indeed any other character, make any reference to the McCann case.

And will Kate McCann herself watch this......

Recorded this next one and will watch it in due course.

I did too and the second one is def worth a watch.

Got to say I didn't like this. Too confusing and convoluted just so viewers can't work out what is going on (in that sense we know where the writers get that idea!)

Spoiler:
I mean the Army officer that is assigned to the case (why not just the police?) is having it off with the dad? Very original and convenient.

I watched and mostly liked the first Missing mystery apart from the ending. All the confusion and distractions and it turns out to be such a simple and straight forward event.

They used to do mystery shows like this in 2 hours with just solid writing. Now they like to stretch things out to 8 hours so have to resort to cheap tricks to keep viewers.

Do I sound grumpy and bitter? lol!

I'll be interested to read what you think Andrew.

Blimey, TTWO. So it was a load of dross then...

Was looking forward to watching it as well at some point. Probably won't now.

Maybe it gets better in the 2nd episode...

I enjoyed episode 1 tonight. Found it a little confusing jumping between different years but thats me, a bit slow sometimes! Ended with a bang - didn't see it coming......

Well the basic story might be OK but my issue with it is the confusion, red herrings and twists just to stretch things out ruin it for me.

So you weren't impressed either, Freedom...

Must've of been rubbish then.

I'm disappointed.

I thought it'd be a cracker and receive excellent reviews.

ETA - That's the attitude, Antonia. So a cliffhanger at the end. Great stuff.

I'd stick it on now but literally can't be bothered. It can wait.

I haven't seen it yet, Andrew. I plan to watch it in the morning when I'm more awake than I am now.

Well that's TV drama for you I guess.. They have to stretch it out as much as poss.

No good for the viewers if they can work it out and see what's coming straight away.

They don't want a damp squib even though by all accounts it is.

I guess it is a combination of me getting old and the fact I've had enough of confusion, twists and stretching things out in real life cases, Andrew!

I've heard good things about the Robbie Coltrane drama National Treasure which seems much more focused being just 4 episodes (including ads so under 3 hours really) so a solid gripping drama can be done without stretching things out for the sake of it.

I've not watched any of that treasure programme. I think Freedom has and started a thread on it here somewhere.

I know what you mean though in regards to 'stretching things out'...

I think we've all had enough of that business with the Madeleine McCann case (and to an extent, the Ben Needham case).

I've now watched the programme and enjoyed it.

The Telegraph link is okay to read re spoilers if you haven't seen it.

Once I'd got used to the changes in years, varying from 2003 at the beginning and then alternating between 2014 and the present day, I did understand it.

I didn't read this thread today as I had recorded the prog. Just watched it and I enjoyed it. I actually find it less confusing than the 1st one because I'm used to the tricks they use to show different times. Dad has no scar in 2014, mum has short hair now. Julian is bald etc. I think it has promise.

Glad you managed  to fathom it chirpy, I had to leave it half way, it was driving me mad, from past to present and back.  Can't stand it when that happens, far too confusing - I may give it another go tomorrow....

Don't want to give anything away but once you have watched the first one you will have it sussed. Alice disappeared in 2003, reappeared in 2014 and the story continues in present day.
