Second episode better than first. Story building nicely now. Hubby watched a couple of minutes when he came to bed as I was watching a recording in tablet and said it looked promising and he hates these serial dramas.

I thought it was a 6 parter but looked it up and it's actually 8.

Snipped:

It's only the second week of the new series, but BBC One's The Missing is already a huge hit with viewers, even though nobody seems to have a clue what's going on.

....Reminded me of Textusa's blogs.

It's rare for me to watch anything in more than two parts - the memories of four hours of Mark Williams-Thomas waffling and concluding more or less nothing linger on - but I shall stick with this one.

It's nowhere near as incomprehensible as Textusa - not for me anyway!

It helps to read a review after each episode as that usually answers any minor questions.

The storyline isn't that complicated. The Missing, that is, not you know who.

I am beginning to lose interest with this but I shall stick it out. The ending can't be sillier than in the first series - or can it?

Nope still not got round to seeing any of it. With these confusing mixed reviews then I might just give it a miss. After reading a few snippets of that article (not too much in case I change my mind) then it reminded me of a film I watched years ago, called Changeling. Based on a true-story.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Changeling_(film)

A good film actually if anyone is ever bored and stuck for something to watch.

I might be alone here but I'm still enjoying it. Although I do find it a bit slow in places. Still following the plot.

Yes it was.

I will stick with it but that bit about DNA being taken only from Alice's father had me groaning in disbelief. There was also what seems to be a serious plot hole. Gemma asked Eve in the present day something about does she ever want children. They knew each other in 2014 when Eve was about to give birth so how could she be unaware of that and how apparently the child died because her son Matthew pushed Eve over?

Beware, I've read the synopsis of the next episode and it is apparently very violent.

We now know what happened to Eve's baby and I think that this explains Gemma's remark which seemed to be a plot hole at the time. I won't give the game away for those who haven't seen it yet.

I will need to read a review to understand other things on the episode!

Sounds like it's getting quite exciting then...

5 hours of this to try and catch up on as well as a 100 hours worth of documentaries from here.

So, so far would you say it's as good as the first one, worse or better...?

Thanks Chirpy but it's quicker for me to read reviews.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-3921812/The-Missing-viewers-horrified-character-murdered-DRILL.html

Not to be read until after the episode has been seen!

The problem is that I don't always recognise that a character has appeared previously. This applies to the military press officer who I can't recall ever seeing before.

I think he only appeared last week. He was assigned to the family after a certain event in the garden.

I do hope that we get a believable explanation as to how Sophie or Alice (whoever she is) escaped from the fire and who it really was who died there.

I'm still hanging in there after the penultimate instalment.

I think I've grasped most of it except for in this episode Julien Baptiste was convinced of the press officer's guilt and confronted him over it. Was there any mention of this before?

Just finished watching it. The press officer was the guy who was tortured by the father of the 13 year old girl in Iraq. Mrs Hertz who was the CO told Julien about it.
