Post  dogs don't lie on Wed 17 Dec 2014, 10:42 am

Ha ha Andrew, don't worry, we know it's not your fault lol.
Met police have also tweeted the parents want certainty and they're doing their best with that, certainty on what, is the question?

I didn't like the sound of that at all from the bumbling Sir Bernard "we will do our best to help them" Hogan-Howe.

From about 19.45 to 21.15 if anyone wants to watch.

Semantics, dear Andrew. IMO, of course.
The McCs want certainty and he wants to give them that.
Read into it what you want.
I get positive vibes - again :-)

Not my usual optimistic self as still on a downer after last nights finale of 'The Missing'.

Didn't feel any positive vibes first time round. Glad you did though.

Will have another listen in a bit.

Last time he spoke - he called them 'the family ... e.g. the family handed over the dossier... -

Just hope Nicola Wall is not just a pawn doing what she is told..

I fear i cannot get excited by a senior police officer who gets involved so personally with the mccanns fund raising events at a time when his gut instincts/years of training should maybe be telling him different.

A reminder of his balloon releasing event !

Sorry to be so pesimistic but not really inspired by that.

I really do not think BHH could have said anything else with regards to the McCann's, he obviously has to be seen to be keeping them onside for the time being. What I did find interesting is that he is not treating the Scot Young balcony death as suspicious, seemingly this is for the Coroner to decide? I just wonder now how Brenda Leyland's death will be handled and will the Coroner make the final decision.

There was hardly follow-up in this "event". I read an article and saw a photo of Pa & Ma Healy at the release. There were far less than 1,000 balloons, rather some 100. And, if memory serves, there may have been a police constable present, but definitely not BHH. Unfortunately, I cannot find that article at the moment. Will try and get some help from some of the great "file-keepers" ;-)

I did have a look on google images hoping to find something but not BHH.It was very early in the scheme of things and quite possible that 'poe' is right on the other thread and it was just missinformation.I know that some subsequent 'balloon' launches proved a flop but that was much later i thought ?

I seem to remember they did the 1000 balloon release on the 1000th missing day ! So that would be 2/3 years later and it was a flop because of the weather ?

Anyway he said a few other things in the interview then moved swiftly on.His main message seemed to be that they (the MET) are underfunded and when questioned by Ferrari he suggested the mccann search may have to end (or words to that effect), £4mill per year ?

Inferred they'd spend the same money to find a missing child of any 'ordinary family'. The McCanns are an ordinary family, they may be doctors but they're nothing special. Good news for Kerry Needham.

'Imagine how they [the McCanns] are feeling...' he urged. 'There is hope....'

Not encouraging at all.

According to Liverpool Echo the 1000th day balloon release that was cancelled was around the end Jan 2010. The Liverpool release went ahead around 17 June 2007 though BHH was reported to be going to lead the release it looks like he never actually did.
