As a result of new information received late last night (02/03), we attended a house at Barton Court in the Barton Hill area of Bristol. The information suggested that Becky’s body had been cut up and a search at the new location resulted in the discovery of body parts.

Although formal identification procedures have not yet been completed, we have made Becky’s family aware of this discovery. As a result of this latest development, a further three men and two women have been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

They remain in police custody at this time as do the man and the woman arrested on suspicion of Becky’s murder. This is devastating news for Becky’s family and friends and our thoughts are with them. We will continue to offer every support we can to them during this terrible ordeal.”

Makes you feel sick, times like this you wish you had never followed the case.

Was it the step-mother who said Becky had arrived back from staying at her friend`s house that Thursday morning and then went out again at 11.15am?  Apparently the step-mother had just got back from a hospital appointment.

Just wondering if what happened to Becky occurred while she was staying at the friend`s house on the Wednesday night.

P.S. Makes one wonder what was in that drum now.

I did wonder why the dogs were used so often and at different locations. It is beyond believe, murder is bad enough but mutilation.

The latest 5 arrests: 2 men aged 29, 2 aged 23 and a woman aged 23.

So 4 men and 1 woman now.

Not 3 and 2 what was stated earlier.

Becky Watts' mum Tania, grandmother Pat and brother Daniel Watts, have issued the following statement saying they are devastated by the latest developments:
We are devastated to be told of this latest development. We are at an utter loss to understand why anyone would want to hurt our beautiful Becky in such a brutal way.

We are grateful to the police for all they have done and are continuing to do in this investigation.

Whilst there are people in custody, none of whom are connected to the Watts family, we will not be making any further comment and we ask that our privacy is respected at this horrific time

The whole family set up is a bit confusing.

The mother puts out a statement but not the father as of now. But perhaps it is because of his wife, Angie Mae whose son is being held. What must the father be feeling towards them.

No, but no statement, perhaps he is too grieved. May all will lead back to her house.?

Yesterday - no one on the Galsworthy side was involved.

Today - no one on the Watts' side was involved.

No statement as yet after further arrests from the Galsworthy's.

Hmmmm.

Her parents must be in a terrible state of shock, I doubt they can even think straight let alone issue statements.   I hope the press respect their privacy.

They do seem keen to let the public know it isn't anyone from their own family though don't they, but perhaps there are some nasty rumours about..   Reminds me a bit of April Jones' family set up in away, lots of extended family.

What an awful situation, poor Rebecca, poor child.

If you go to the beginning of this thread, there are aspertions being cast from the fourth post. Perhaps its a reaction to that sort of thing rather than rumours

Just seen this from the Mirror site. On the timeline it says 40 mins ago.. Although could be from yesterday.

Uncle: "No one on dad's side implicated"

The teenager's uncle, Sam Galsworthy, has said that no-one on Becky's father's side had any connection to her disappearance.

Seeking to end speculation and rumour, he said: "We want to make it absolutely clear that no member of Darren's side of the family are implicated in any way.

"Every family member who was part of our search for Rebecca still remains with us."

Weren't there recently some gangs of men on trial (found guilty) for sexual exploitation of young girls in Bristol?

Unfortunately it goes on in many cities, but they do often exploit the more vulnerable girls and to my mind some of the photos of Rebecca looked as if they were set up and taken by someone else, grooming comes to mind.

She was a lovely looking girl in the photo eating her meal, just a normal young teenager. I don't know, it's all so dreadful and hard to comprehend so now I'm rambling.

Statement from Becky's dad Darren and step-mum Anjie Galsworthy:
"To receive such news as we did today about our dear daughter and step-daughter Becky is too much to bear.

“We have the support of a good family network to help us in these challenging times.

“We would ask that you treat Becky with the due reverence and allow us to come to terms with our grief in private."

“As a family, we would ask the press to make any future contact through the police press office.”


Statement from Becky's grandfather John Galsworthy on behalf of the Galsworthy family:
“We are heartbroken at what has been discovered overnight. We cannot begin to understand what has happened and why.

“Becky was a wonderful daughter, sister, granddaughter and niece, and we cannot put into words how devastated we are."

“We are pulling together as a family and ask to be left alone at this time.”
