Not sure how one could libel Mitchell. Nothing anyone could say would plumb the depths of what people actually feel about him.

Esther McVey could make swift political return if David Cameron appoints her to the Lords

Ousted Esther McVey is in line for a swift political return as David Cameron dishes out life peerages.
Voters in Merseyside kicked the former bedroom tax minister out of Wirral West on Thursday.
But Tories are urging the Prime Minister to appoint her to the House of Lords in his dissolution honours list.
Among them is senior Tory MP Nigel Evans.
He said of Ms McVey: “She is top quality and we can’t afford to lose that sort of talent. I think she would make a great contribution from the other place.”
But the move would infuriate voters in Liverpool and across the country after former television presenter Ms McVey became unpopular as the Government’s advocate for the hated Bedroom Tax.

The PM is also set to recommend knighthoods for a string of Tory MPs to help ease their path into lucrative posts in City boardrooms.
Others who could be set for peerages in the dissolution honours – expected to be announced within weeks – include former Lib Dem cabinet ministers Danny Alexander and Vince Cable.
Labour figures likely to be offered a seat in the House of Lords include Dame Tessa Jowell.
But the honours will reignite controversy over the House of Lords, where peers can claim tax-free daily allowances of £300 – even if they only remain in the building for a few minutes.
There are already more than 840 peers – an increase from 708 a decade ago – but there is only space on the House of Lords benches for about 400 of them.

Weird how some individuals seem to possess an irrepressible yet at the same time inexplicable ability to rise to the top. This woman certainly seems to have some.... leverage?

A Dutch expression [omhoogvallen wegens gebrek aan gewicht] would translate more or less like: falling upwards because of lack of weight.

It's also known as "Peter Principle": The Peter Principle is a concept in management theory in which the selection of a candidate for a position is based on the candidate's performance in their current role, rather than on abilities relevant to the intended role. Thus, employees only stop being promoted once they can no longer perform effectively, and "managers rise to the level of their incompetence."

I like that a lot.

I remember an interview with the much maligned England football manager Graham Taylor, he basically said that managing the national team was the culmination of a career that had been on a permanently upward trajectory, and when he then experienced failure at the top level it was something that he had no experience of - consequently he was totally unequipped to deal with it.

No one who is voted out should ever be elevated. The people have spoken, and someone should listen to them.

Those who resign, take the Chiltern Hundreds, or do not stand / retire, are a very different proposition.

She's only been selected as a candidate, she's got to win the seat yet!  With the way things are going for the Tories, you never know, they may not vote for her, don't think if George Osborne was still there he would have got in anyway, think that is why he shoved off.
