We often hear these ex-cops casting aspersions on the PJ but when you think about it, how unprofessional it is for a cop of his rank (commander) to do such a thing. I don`t think even BHH has been that rude. So why the need to do it?

Maybe I am wrong Andrew, but there was an 0345 number mentioned a couple of times in order for people to phone in. I thought it was to do with Sonia's interview.

Finally found time this morning to listen to the interview.

I think there can be no doubt based on that upon which side Sonia is on and as for John O'Connor either he is very naive or he's "in on it". How much info could a retired Met officer glean, I wonder? If he has friends there still his then his utterings do not instill in me confidence in OG, I'm afraid.

But I fail to see how Sonia's intentions can be criticised by some based on that interview - I found her as unequivocal as she could be given the restrictions as to what she could say with the investigation going on. And she, at least seems to have hope for the motives of Grange. So that's encouraging. She got the message out there about the wealth of information in the files and even gave instructions for listeners as to how to find them! Go Sonia!

Would a £10million plus investigation be put in jeopardy though by one person passing on information to a retired Met officer, who could blow the whistle at any time or pass on info to a newspaper if the price was right.  The whole investigation could collapse just by one thing being said by a "friend" to a retired cop.

When I first read about John O'Connor he seemed to be quite intelligent and had a good career behind him. However, after reading what he had to say on the radio interview he seems to be completely in the dark regarding the Madeleine investigation and hasn't bothered to bring himself up to speed with any of it before deciding to be interviewed.  Perhaps he doesn't spend all his days on the internet reading MM forums (like a lot of us do   ), may be he has other things that occupy him, and just spoke off the top of his head with his thoughts about the case and has been taken in.  May be he hasn't got a home computer and doesn't know how to use one.  I do know of a few people who have never used a computer let alone the internet.

I need something to kick (inanimate of course) after listening to that.

I can't make out if John O'Connor was there in the first stages of the search for Madeleine or not.  That article states -

On Sunday 19th May 2013, former Commander of the Flying Squad at New Scotland Yard, spoke to Marian Finucane on RTE Ireland.

I am quite gobsmacked as what he said he witnessed during the initial searches for Madeleine.. There have been many errors made in this case but when you hear that the Police just walked away from a locked shed without investigating any further it really does open your eyes as to what a cock-up this investigation really was.

The other items listed are statements from the Sun newspaper.

If he wasn't actually there in PDL in May 2007 then it is all hearsay with him.

I've just done a quick search on Google for his name and all the articles seem to be him criticising every police force he can think of.

At least it can't be said of him that he only criticises Johnny Foreigner's police force.

How any serving or ex police officer can sit there and sing the praises of the McCanns and not condemn the fact that they can drag a former senior police officer through the courts for daring to print the Portuguese version of the case, bringing him to the point of bankruptcy with their 'search for Madeleine' money, is beyond me.

John O'Connor obviously has not read the files or he would know that the Met were involved from the start. What a waste of space getting an ex-cop to comment on something he knows nothing about. As for Sonia ... nothing new there, although I was pleased that she urged listeners to read the PJ Files online.

If Sonia is going to release a trailer on the anniversary of Brenda`s death, then that should be next week.

Brenda was stalked by Martin Brunt on the 30th September.
His editor decided to publish on the 2nd October.
Brenda was found dead on the 4th October.

How does he KNOW that shed was never searched? Was he camped there from May 3rd when the alarm was raised until months later?
