It's confirmed what I've always thought that people should be licensed before they're allowed to have children. There are so many people who aren't fit to be parents and so many children who suffer because of it.

What about the woman who gave her young son the keys to the car, is she completely brain dead for god sake. I wouldn't give my car keys to an adult who couldn't drive let alone a child.

It seems strange that these stories are appearing in the press when it's coming up to GA's case, if I wasn't so cynical I would say it was all connected.

Yes, the cynical side of me thought that too.

All made up guff, imo.

So you actually leave your child in a dangerous situation, then sometime afterwards, you just have to get in touch with the Daily Mail and confess all.

Rubbish.

If I'd done any of these things I would be mortified.  I certainly wouldn't tell anyone certainly not make it public in the Daily Mail.

The awful happening with the car keys -  I would still be having nightmares about that if it was me - never forgive myself at the horror of it.

Are some parents so selfish that their children's safety comes so low on their list?

OK, don't say it, some are as we know only too well.

Lucy Cavendish (the Mum who gave her car keys to her young son and almost had a heartache - supposedly - when he accidentally tried to drive the family car off the top of a cliff) is no "shrinking violet" when it comes to getting her name and photo in the DM -

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-1212376/Sparkle-Ottoline-No-wonder-I-baby-remorse-.html

I must say she's looking a lot better now in her recent DM photo, perky, shiny hair as just come out of the hairdressers in comparison with her 2009 photo, dowdy, looking like she could do with a makeover.  Oh, wait, knock me down with a feather, could DM have given her a makeover for her latest "fantasy" story.

Am I being simple DFM, do you think these are all made up stories just for an article?
I am such a dope if they are as I took them to be true.      Embarassed
Actually if they are fantasy stories I would be much relieved because I'll probably have nightmares myself thinking about them.

No, you're not a dope bluebell.

I read the DM website every day but take much of what is written with a pinch of salt, I suspect half of the stories are made up (just to fill their website each day, some of them are off the realms of reality), I just like reading the comments section on each story.  Although with the political stories regarding the government etc I wish some of those who comment could put themselves forward for election as they seem to know more about how the country should be governed than DC and the rest of the idiots he has backing him do.

Anyway getting back to the mother of the year, Cavendish, if that had happened to me when any children were in my charge I would be mortified and would never be able to face anyone, family, friends, my childrens' father, let alone have my photo (looking beautiful as if I'd come out of a make up and hair session, not looking anxious and worried) stuck on the DM website.  I would be ashamed that I could have almost killed my children by my stupidity.  Although looking at her photo she doesn't look too bothered.

Thanks for that Andrew. I must say she's come a long way from her downtrodden, scruffy looking, unkept photo of 2009.  She obviously now has a lucrative job of writing stories for the press, whether they are true or fiction I wouldn't like to say.

I'm surprised that nice but dim Fiona Phillips wasn't rounded up as well to recount her story again of leaving her children alone in a hotel room.

Kirstie Allsopp faces backlash for defending Madeleine McCann's parents

Kirstie Allsopp faces backlash for defending Madeleine McCann's parents

Yahoo March 14, 2017

TV presenter Kirstie Allsopp has faced immense backlash after defending Madeleine McCann’s parents on social media.
The star’s followers, including Luisa Zissman, have spoken out against Kirstie since she made the comments, which came as it was revealed that the search for Maddie has cost taxpayers over £11.1million since she went missing in 2007.  It all started when Piers Morgan tweeted to say that the McCann’s had made a “mistake” leaving their children alone in a Portugal hotel room.
Kirstie wrote back: “I disagree, I think it was OK to leave the kids sleeping while the parents were in a restaurant close by & checking frequently.
“Have always though the McCanns did nothing wrong leaving the kids asleep nearby, it’s something people have done worldwide since time began.
“What the McCanns did is perfectly normal all over the world, and people that abuse and castigate grieving parents should be utterly ashamed.”
The star quickly felt the wrath of her followers, who tweeted their own views on leaving children alone in a hotel room:

in a restaurant close by & checking frequently.
“Have always though the McCanns did nothing wrong leaving the kids asleep nearby, it’s something people have done worldwide since time began.

TV star Luisa Zissman also got involved, writing: “Just guna pop to the shop & leave my kids at home alone in an unlocked house. Is that ok? @KirstieMAllsopp seems 2 think that’s acceptable? [sic]”
However, Kirstie remained defiant, writing: “We cannot live every moment in fear of the tiny, tiny number of evil freaks that sadly exist, parenting has become too fearful.
“For years Mums & Dads have popped next door to have a cuppa with a neighbour when the kids were in bed or even gone to the pub on the corner.
“What I find staggering is the number of people who think that they could never make the wrong choice, because I know I have, often.

“Good to know that if you fail there are so many to judge & condemn you, on the upside great to learn that perfect parents are so numerous.”
She then refused to talk about her views any further, concluding with: “No desire to debate this, I’ve said my bit and won’t be revisiting the topic, shocked by the amount of bile people hold, it isn’t healthy.”
Yesterday it was announced that the police will get another £85,000 to support the search for Maddie, prompting nationwide outrage and debate.

@KirstieMAllsopp even when the children in question were two babies and a toddler? Sounds downright irresponsible to me.

I live in an apartment building with a shared laundry room and a garbage disposal and recycling in the basement where the cars are parked. I always see young mums taking their toddlers with them while they empty the garbage or the recycling, and always while they're loading and unloading laundry. You wouldn't dare leave a young child alone and unattended here, not even for a few minutes.
