Dogs don't Lie        Wink

“One strand was fully and professionally examined by the SCCRC. They concluded that the evidence given by the dog handler was unreliable.”

During the investigation two specialist cadaver dogs from an English police force were brought in to help in the search for Ms Pilley.

One of the dogs reacted when sniffing in the boot of Gilroy’s car, a jury heard during the trial. The guilty verdict was by majority and not unanimous.

The Gilroy family statement continues: “Without the dog evidence more jurors might have decided the case ‘not proven’ or that David was ‘not guilty’ - sufficient to form a majority for one of those verdicts?

“It is far from clear why the Commission conclude that there was no real possibility of this.

“For the time being David will not now have the chance to have this properly re-examined in a court.”

That link doesn't work (for me).

This is a second series which starts on the 22nd of June.

I can't remember if I saw anything of the first series, whenever that was on.

Post  bluebell on Thu 22 Jun 2017, 5:11 pm

Must be a thread on Christopher Halliwell but sorry can't find it.

This is from the book written by Det. Sup. Fulcher  "Catching a Serial Killer".

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4628212/Did-Christopher-Halliwell-kill-SIXTY-women.html

Did double-murderer taxi driver kill SIXTY women? Detective reveals Christopher Halliwell's twisted 'trophy cabinet' could hold the clues to dozens of unsolved crimes

Merged with this topic as already mentioned here.

Robert Trigg charged with manslaughter and murder of previous partners

Post  bluebell on Fri 23 Jun 2017, 4:23 pm

Maybe this should be in Misc Criminal Cases?  Not sure.

Very interesting case which is throwing up many failings of police and pathologist.
He is on trial at the moment.  Evidence that he is/was a controlling, abusive man and had been cautioned previously by police.

Somehow  No    two of his partners have been found dead next to him, but both classed as 'natural deaths' !!!

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4617890/Man-52-accused-killing-girlfriend-52-woman-35.html#ixzz4kY6XbiN4

Former chef, 52, 'killed two of his ex-girlfriends in their sleep five years apart and let one of the victim's CHILDREN find her body on Mother's Day'
Robert Trigg, 52, denies killing the two woman five years apart in Worthing

He is accused of murdering his girlfriend Susan Nicholson on April 17 2011
Unemployed Trigg also charged with the manslaughter of Caroline Devlin

Both were found dead after falling asleep - on both occasions he didn't call 999

He claimed he accidentally suffocated Ms Nicholson and a post mortem found Ms Devlin had suffered an aneurism
But court heard Ms Nicholson's head was pushed into the bed and Ms Devlin suffered a blow to the back of her head

I've merged it with the miscellaneous cases for now.

I wonder if there will be enough evidence to charge Ian Stewart, who killed the writer Helen Bailey, in connection with the death of his first wife.

I haven't yet read about the above case in detail but my first reaction is that it sounds like something from a bygone age when "unmarried mothers" were stigmatised.

I don't think that we have mentioned the Kerry babies case here before so I'll put a link to it. This is another case which it's hard to believe happened only in comparatively recent times, the 1980s.

The vicarage baby case occurred close to where I live so has received extensive coverage in the local press. The original investigation included incest allegations, but they were quickly ruled out as the babys father was named. It all reads to me as some dark gothic novel

I've now read the article and it really does sound like the script of a creepy film. You'd think - surely there can't be anyone like that in real life!

Christopher Halliwell

Post  bluebell on Sat 24 Jun 2017, 4:46 pm

This is in connection with the other post above about Halliwell:

http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/claudia-lawrences-mum-asks-see-10672093

Claudia Lawrence's mum asks to see "trophies" hidden by murderer Christopher Halliwell in case they include missing chef's belongings
Claudia is believed to have been abducted walking to a 6am shift at York University on March 19, 2009 - a date Halliwell is said to be fixated on after being dumped

There's a doc on Channel 5 now about the young girl and her bf who murdered her mum and sister.

We've chatted about the case ages ago and recently when the court decided they could be named.

Can't find the thread anywhere scratch
