But on the flip side no closure will mean absolutely nothing coming out about what they were/are up to.

This is my problem Heisenburg, I really don't think the full extent of the truth will be known, just my thoughts. My only hope is this case will come to some sort of conclusion in Portugal. To be honest I'm not holding my breath on this. But I really hope and think social media will keep the case going.

Another thing this morning, are the press playing the McCanns. First paragraph in a story of Genette Tate,Madeleine is mentioned,

Back in the late Seventies, Genette Tate’s name dominated the headlines in the same way that Madeleine McCann’s did after she disappeared. Genette’s face stared out from newsstands and ‘missing’ posters across Britain, and her parents made emotional appeals on TV.

Then in the comment section we have this.

if the police spent as much money and time on genette case as they have done on the [perfect parents] Mccanns maybe they would have found some closure for the parents.

George Osborne`s brother

Post  Mimi on Mon 08 Feb 2016, 8:00 pm

Psychiatrist Dr Adam Osborne will appear before the General Medical Council after engaging in an “inappropriate” emotional and sexual relationship

George Osborne’s brother is back before the General Medical Council after he admitted having sex with a vulnerable patient who had been under his care, a disciplinary panel has heard.

Dr Adam Osborne, who is currently suspended by the GMC, admitted that he had engaged in an “inappropriate” emotional and sexual relationship with the woman, despite being her private psychiatrist. The woman, referred to as Patient A, had been under Osborne’s care between February 2011 and late 2014 and had a history of mental ill health.

It is not the first time the younger brother of the chancellor has been in the spotlight for medical failings. In 2010 he was suspended from practising medicine for six months after writing fraudulent prescriptions for a girlfriend, a family member and an escort girl while a psychiatry trainee at Wythenshawe hospital in Manchester.

The GMC found that Osborne had behaved dishonestly after attempting to obtain antipsychotic medication for a cocaine-addicted woman he had been seeing while his partner was away. The tribunal said the misconduct, which related to incidents between June 2006 and May 2008, impaired his fitness to practise.

Osborne, who qualified as a doctor in 2004, did not attend the latest Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service hearing in Manchester. The tribunal will make a decision on the allegation that his fitness to practise is impaired by reason of misconduct in his absence when it is formally opened on Tuesday.

Osborne admits that he knew, or ought reasonably to have known, that the woman was a vulnerable patient because of her history of mental ill health. He further admits that between 14 February 2015 and 24 February 2015 he sent inappropriate emails to Patient A, which referred to requests that she withdraw her complaint to the GMC against him, made threats towards her and the consequences for her family if she did not withdraw her complaint and an accusation that she had seduced him.

The hearing is due to last 10 days."

Portugal - Mother “kills children out of vengeance”

Post  candyfloss on Thu 18 Feb 2016, 1:46 pm

Posted by portugalpress on February 18, 2016

Mother “kills children out of vengeance”

A three-year-old girl is still missing after her mother took her and her younger sister to their deaths in the freezing waters of the Tejo near Caxias (Oeiras) on the outskirts of Lisbon last Monday.

The tragic story of what led Sónia Lima to kill her own children has been documented by the nation’s media as a case where the authorities failed to act in time, but there are still doubts as to the validity of all the claims. Indeed, this morning, the nation’s most-read paper claims Lima “killed her daughters out of vengeance” and that she has been trying to manipulate Justice “imputing her (estranged) husband Nelson Ramos not only of aggressions but of the sexual abuse of her children”. These latter claims were not backed up by medical examinations, adds Correio da Manhã.

Both CM and Diário de Notícias attest to the fact that Lima took her children to hospital in November, alleging sexual abuse by the partner from whom she had only recently separated. Unable to find any evidence of sexual abuse and “in the face of the mother’s insistence of these facts”, the doctors advised Lima to go to the authorities - which she did.

While DN documents a number of instances where both police and APAV (the association for victim support) judged Lima and her daughters to be facing “elevated risk” from Ramos, CM suggests PJ investigators and Public Ministry prosecutors now believe that she “acted out of vengeance against her children’s father, who threatened to take the children from her”.

Ramos in the meantime has categorically denied all his former partner’s allegations. According to CM this morning, the Cascais judge hearing the facts far has “accepted” the theory that Lima “never intended to commit suicide, but just kill her children”, and for this reason she is now facing charges of qualified homicide which carry a maximum prison term of 25 years.

The argument that Lima was suffering from depression “which would mean reduced imputability” was “not considered”, says CM. Thus, the 37-year-old has been remanded in custody to Tires jail as searches continue for the body of her eldest daughter Samira.

As many as 300 police and search and rescue personnel are thought to be involved in the operation which has “already covered a vast area”, says ports commander Malaquias Domingues - adding that it is unlikely the child’s body has been caught in rocks near the beach where the children went in (click here). Meantime, the body of Samira’s younger sister, 19-month-old Viviane, is due to be released from the institute of legal medicine for burial.

The murder of Penny Bell

Post  Freedom on Mon 28 Mar 2016, 6:54 pm

For some reason, this case came back to my mind today, nearly 25 years after the event. I don't recall hearing claims before of police incompetence.

Here is an interview from last year with her daughter.

A reasonable sentence for a change

A minimum of 24 years for this so-called mother.

This is a link to an earlier report before she was sentenced.

I can't bear to read the details of cases like this.

They keep happening time after time. How can other people - such as in the Ayeesha case, her father and godmother - not just march in and take the child away?

It ticks all the boxes, doesn't it, of what stereotypical child abductors the world over look like - dishevelled, drunk and foreign.

Thanks for that, yes interesting, and like you I don't remember this splashed everywhere..

snipped from article (link above)

The 32-year-old, from Chioggia, who had been living and working in the UK since 2013, had initially reported her daughter had been abducted from a hotel.
She had checked into the Lily Hotel near Earls Court on Saturday January 24 with her daughter and a few possessions.
Later the same day, she checked out without Farah before contacting her parents in Italy.

Missing boy's parents charged with murder 20 years after he went 'missing'

Post  candyfloss on Sat 30 Apr 2016, 12:15 pm

Parents indicted in cold case murder of Hawaiian boy

Hawaii's most infamous cold case got a major break when the parents of “Peter Boy” Kema Jr. were indicted Thursday in connection with his death 19 years ago.

Peter Kema Sr. and Jaylin Kema were indicted by a Hilo grand jury and charged with second-degree murder in the death of their son. Peter Jr. was 6 when he vanished, and his body was never found.

The little boy, who suffered horrific and extensive abuse from the time he was just days old and endured abuse throughout his short life, became a symbol for critics who called for reform of child care services.

“It was just absolutely horrifying the torture this child was subjected to,” said Meaghan Good, founder and editor of The Charley Project, a website that is tracking 9,500 unsolved murder cases including that of Peter Boy Jr. “I read all 2,000 pages about the case released by the Department of Human Services in 2005, and it very obvious what happened to Peter Boy Jr.”

Speaking to reporters after the indictment, Hawaii County Prosecutor Mitch Roth said the charges were "a long time coming."

"Peter Boy, this Sunday, would have been 25 years old."

- Mitch Roth, Hawaii County prosecutor

"Peter Boy, this Sunday, would have been 25 years old," he said.

Peter Boy disappeared from his Hawaii Island home in 1997. On Nov. 4, both his parents were arrested on unrelated charges. His father was charged with drug and gun offenses, but later released, while Jaylin Kema was charged with welfare fraud.

Peter Boy Sr., and Jaylin Kema, were arrested late last year on unrelated charges.

They had long been the main suspects in their son's disappearance, but police did not have enough evidence to bring charges. It is not known publicly what new evidence led to the indictments.

The Kemas could not be reached for comment. Their public defenders have not been assigned yet, according to the prosecutor's office.

The Kemas did not report him missing for several months after he was last seen alive, and only then after a social worker alerted police. Peter Kema Sr. told he’d taken the child to another island, Oahu, and turned him over to a family friend who he did not know how to reach. Police were unable to locate her or even confirm her existence.

Peter Boy Jr.’s three living siblings agree that although they were all abused by their parents, Peter Boy Jr. bore the brunt.

In 1998, they told authorities Peter Boy Jr. endured frequent beatings, was rarely fed and forced to eat off the floor. He was made to sleep either tied to the bed, on the bathroom or closet floor or outside without bedding, and was often left handcuffed or tied up with rope, they said.

“It was so shocking and repulsive - the kind of abuse this kid suffered at the hands of the people he trusted,” said Michael W. Perry of KSSK Radio, Hawaii’s most well-known radio commentator. “He was so young, and there were so many dark corners over so long a period time.”

In the wake of Peter Boy Jr.'s disappearance, records surfaced showing how time and again, state Child Protective Service officials missed or ignored signs the boys was being abused.

When Roth was elected in 2012, one of his pledges was to solve the island’s many cold case murders, including Peter Boy Jr.’s.

“It has been a long time in coming,” Roth told FoxNews.com. “We are happy able to start to bring closure for the family and for the community.”

In an effort to solve the case, police and prosecutors have looked at the evidence “with fresh set of eyes” Roth said, reviewing thousands of pages of evidence, re-interviewing witnesses and following new leads.

“We want the public and the family members to know we have not forgotten, and we are still looking for answers and justice,” Roth said

Jailed: Carer who fleeced pensioner out of £54,000 to pay for gastric band op

Post  chrissie on Wed 04 May 2016, 12:58 pm

What a terrible story:

http://www.standard.co.uk/news/crime/jailed-carer-who-fleeced-pensioner-out-of-54000-raid-to-pay-for-gastric-band-op-a3239606.html

A carer who fleeced a pensioner with dementia out of her £54,000 life savings to pay for a gastric band operation has been jailed for 32 months.

Maria McCalla, 31, withdrew more than £38,000 from 82-year-old Vera Haselden’s account, and convinced the pensioner to sign cheques to her for £10,000 and £6,000.

The single mother, from Wembley, spent the money on the operation and her children’s school fees as well as an X-Box games console and clothes.

Harrow crown court was told that McCalla had been Miss Haselden’s carer for two months when she started the fraud, in June 2014. She had huge debts on 17 credit cards and the pensioner had offered to lend her £16,000.

“The consequences for Miss Haselden have been enormous because she lived in fear of entering a care home and the whole point of employing you was so she could stay at home,” he said.

“She now has no capital and as a consequence has gone into a care home.

“She told the police she feels like she is in a prison, ending up where she did not want to be.”

McCalla, who has children aged six and 11, blamed her money woes on depression and gambling. She was also ordered to pay £500 costs.
