I certainly do as been stuck in a shite boring meeting most of all afternoon which in all fairness i would of cancelled if the GA news came in an hour earlier.

First of all......Fantastic news, though of course they will fight it (the money for a special account now explained!).

Second, I see the BBC haven't run anything on this story yet......Interesting. Though they usually are very slow with McCann stories.

Great news for GA, common sense has prevailed at last! Not so sure this is the end of it yet though

The BBC role in this story has always intrigued me what with the Crimewatch connection. I can never make up my mind if it will be ultimately a good thing or if there could be something sinister behind it...

I have a question and that is why did the first judge come to the opposite decision of these 3 judges? They have the same evidence and documents in front of them, yet these judges unanimously overturned the previous verdict... are Judges subject to any scrutiny when they have decisions overturned. I am also think of the Pistorious case in which the original ruling was overturned.

Good question. A bit of political pressure at first, PR, Reputation, Lawyers and the alike all jumping on the bandwagon. All concerned thought they could make a few quid. (apllies for both).

Then they all just realised what a load of tosh it actually is.

OP guilty. Everyone knows it.

As I may have said before [or maybe on another forum...] the verdict of the first judge was so incomprehensible & injust [on purpose?] that the three judges of Court of Appeal couldn't have arrived at another conclusion as their today's. Interestingly, they [the 3 judges] were competent and allowed to analyse the "case", whereas the Supreme Court cannot judge on the "case" but only on possible legal impurities ... Brilliant strategy!

First of all, just let me say a heartfelt "THANK THE LORD" for today's news. I'm so happy for Goncalo, and hope this marks the start of the rest of his life. Get that book back on the shop shelves. Publish and be (un)damned in Britain - why should we suffer from censorship?

Secondly, Chatelaine, your thoughts are very intriguing. Was this the plan all along? What exactly can the Supreme Court consider?

And, in the event of an appeal by the McCanns, is the final permissible appeal that to the Supreme Court?
