I have just managed to make a donation and, if I can, anyone can - though probably with fewer false starts than me.
...I have done it too. Hopefully it helps - at least a little bit!!!!
Poor man - I feel so sorry for him!!!

That's what I felt when I read his message.
GA's life is forever changed for the worse due to the McCann's actions.
Anybody no matter how strong will be affected by excessive stress especially when it's continuously over a long period. Even when the stress is over it leaves an emotional scar.
We can't control what life throws at us, only our reaction, GA will always know he has tried to do the right thing in life no matter what the cost to himself.
It's a sad situation and I hope GA finds some peace in his life once this situation is resolved.

Another member here who is taking a well deserved break ) suggested we should all send him a card, with various Portuguese Messages.
Now I wouldn't have a clue where to start because I don't know any Portuguese.
Any helpers?
While that is undoubtedly a very kind thought, I think clicking on the Paypal link and making a small donation to his expenses would probably be more appreciated at this stage. For some reason, the Paypal link didn't appear for me when I clicked the link at the beginning this thread, but did when I cut and pasted this url from a different blog: http://www.pjga.blogspot.pt/2015/02/a-message-from-goncalo-amaral.html
Thanks for the response your probably right.
For anyone that is concerned about donating, I would just like to say I donated by Visa with no probs last year. It was a link posted up by, or at least recommeded by ultima Thule on the JH forum. I think it's the same link as the above.

I feel profoundly sorry that such an injustice was allowed to happen to Goncalo Amaral. If ever anyone cared for Madeleine it was him.
Through all of the trauma and turbulence that he suffered he showed nothing but kindness, courage, dignity, composure, grace, grit and determination.
In uncertain times when the world is rocked by injustices caused by power, greed and narcissism this man has stood tall and embraced the storm.
A shining example of how to handle life's difficulties, one of the best role models I've seen.
May your victory be sweet.

" Concerning my emotional crisis, I ask you to understand that for me, this whole struggle is not only about the fundamental discovery of the truth, because no matter how optimistic I may be, I can never forget the demand for damages amounting to 1.200.000 Euro that was filed by the couple ... "
From the early days Gonçalo always said he was a believer in justice and was why he studied Law. He`s a Libran as well ! He is justice through and through.
His beliefs in justice must have been sorely tested in the last few years.
It must be so hard to come to terms with the fact that someone wants to utterly destroy you when your life`s work has been to uphold justice. He must have come across so many evil people in his years in the PJ, he knows the world is full of them, but this evil focuses on him personally, not just by the McCanns, but their puppets as well.

Mimi, you remind of a moving episode, where Dr. Amaral asked his wife to pack up part of their Christmas dinner, which he then went to share with a convicted murderer in prison.

Re: Message from Gonçalo Amaral 2/2/15
That was the Uncle of poor wee Joana Cipriano, brutally murdered by her mother and uncle and believed fed to the pigs. The McCann supporters, of course, insist that she was innocent. It's also worth reminding ourselves that their lawyers took payment from Metodo 3, presumably on the McCanns instructions, to perjure themselves against Goncalo Amaral. "Target was hit" was the expression, I believe.Châtelaine wrote:Mimi, you remind of a moving episode, where Dr. Amaral asked his wife to pack up part of their Christmas dinner, which he then went to share with a convicted murderer in prison.
Extract from SIC magazine
15 February 2009
Leonor Cipriano was defended during the entire PJ torture investigation by the lawyer João Grade dos Santos but, "on the eve of the start of trial, the client waived the services of the lawyer,"
Acting on behalf of the McCanns, Método 3, tried to recruit Leonor Cipriano's lawyer, João Grade dos Santos, explaining that his help would be very helpful to their investigations, given the similarities between the two cases. Método 3 stated that "spending money was no problem" and pulled the fore the theme "Gonçalo Amaral". Only months later, having already refused to work for the Spanish agency, Grade realized that Método 3 had their own "agenda". This "agenda" was, according to SIC, to get a lawyer to put Gonçalo Amaral "out of operation", since, in both cases, the detective seemed to want the same: the culpability of the parents.
Faced with the refusal of João Grade dos Santos, Método 3 approached another lawyer - the young Marcos Aragão Correia, who came to participate in searches of Madeleine as a medium and subsequently became involved in investigations related to the Joana case, eventually being engaged to defend Leonor Cipriano in the trial against the five inspectors from Faro.

What is Projecto Justiça Gonçalo Amaral?

A bit of history. A lot of friendship.
Founded as a quest for justice and backed by supporters from all over the globe, in solidarity, friendship and above all, in the interest of furthering the investigation of the case into the disappearance of Madeleine McCann. Within this scope, with the relentless support of those who will not let this case pass into obscurity, who do not tolerate the leaving of unanswered questions, there are many who follow Amaral’s dissatisfaction, and whom, like him, urge for the day the truth, or some more of it will emerge.
During the last months of 2009, a group of Gonçalo Amaral friends realised that it would be impossible for him to face the costs of his defence in the civil suit that was filed against him personally – as well as against others – brought by the McCann couple and their children, in response to his book “Maddie, A Verdade Da Mentira”.
Lawsuits in Portugal are expensive, like anywhere else in the world, and the Portuguese State will only help funding legal costs if one is completely destitute. With part of his pension and the total of his assets frozen, Gonçalo Amaral would not be able to cover the legal expenses; what was left of his pension was barely enough to meet everyday living costs, but it was more than enough for the State to refuse financial support.
Therefore, his friends decided to open a private bank account, where funds would be kept to pay, whenever necessary and whenever possible, expenses that were presented by Mr Amaral’s lawyer. Projecto Justiça Gonçalo Amaral was born out of solidarity and friendship.
The trial is ongoing, since 2009, nothing has changed, pending final judgment. We continue to accept your donations only into this one bank account and we continue to meet only legal expenses out of that very same account.
If any funds are left unused, they will be donated to a Portuguese children’s charity, according to Gonçalo Amaral’s wishes.
There are many ways to contribute to this Project. You can help by spreading information about the disappearance of Madeleine McCann by highlighting the Case File information. You can help by voicing your support for freedom of expression and freedom of opinion. You can help by supporting Gonçalo Amaral’s defence account.
We trust that Justice will be served.
Thank you.

Goncalo's Fund - 64389.97 Euro!!!!! that is what it has reached today. (euro total sounds so much better than sterling!) The other side have said its a "Pay To Post site" I say we should prove them right and proudly have a "Pay to Post" night once a month....on Gofundme for those who already make donations but may have a little extra to spend..... the price of a coffee, a magazine or a pint.I don't know what the minimum donation you can make is whether its £1.00 or £5.00 either way - we should parody their stupidity and have a "SuperTroll Post To Pay Night" - No Libel -No Nastiness -No Pitch -Forking just scientific facts. evidence from the PJ files - and support messages for Goncalo.
We need to come into the open, use our names, say who we are and NOT be ashamed of supporting justice for a missing child. We should NEVER EVER allow freedom of speech to be curtailed and perhaps if we try out my silly idea then those who wish to silence us will realise we are prepared to put our money where our mouth is and not hide behind anonymity on the web. However this could also be the daftest idea I have ever had after 3 glasses of wine and I will not be in any way offended if you use your right to freedom of speech to tell me to catch myself on.

Brilliant idea EileenC.
Since I have thrown away 10p on socks for some nameless person, if I give £1.00 once a month (unless I can manage more at the time) I think that is a great idea.
it seems that a fiver, £5.00, is the minimum so b*gger it let's go for broke !!!
I totally agree with you, but then I've had more than 3 glasses
What a wonderful idea, all of us to make a monthly contribution if we can at the time, with comments. Yeah, yeah.

That is a good idea (errr may be not) EileenC but for those who have submitted donations under an assumed name or as anon would not correspond with their credit/debit card on the gofundme website. It may cause a problem for future donations and may not be accepted if a donors name was changed.
Also many people may not want to be "outed" as to their donation name and their posts. I also suspect that many donations have been made from people who do not belong to any forum but have just donated out of the kindness of their heart after reading the forums.

Re: Message from Gonçalo Amaral 2/2/15
We could do it under our 'other names' though couldn't we? Perhaps just as a gesture once a month adding MMM ? Jill does donate and refers to CMoMM. Maybe I better sleep on it and consider more sensible comments.

Re: Message from Gonçalo Amaral 2/2/15
The MMM would have to be added at the beginning of the post as I would query whether it would be accepted with the log in name.
Anyway it still doesn't take away the anonymity of people who have already donated, it would come down to ...
oooh, so and so has donated £5 in the past, oooh so and so has donated £50 in the past.
Jill logged in initially with CMoMM, changing your log in name is a different matter.
It would also show up people who belong to the forum but have never contributed to the website and haven't donated. It would also show up people who contribute to the website but donate under an assumed name or as anon.
What do you think? I don't want to put you off, you have a good idea but not sure if it is "workable".

You are quite right DFM. Easy to get carried away with good but possibly unworkable ideas.
I liked the principal of EileenC's suggestion, but can now see that it wouldn't be workable and might in some way intimidate posters here to contribute.
Thank you for your commonsense view.
