Scary clown phenomenon hits UK: What do you think of the craze?
Creepy Clown Craze
All this Clown business seems to be in the news a lot of late.
The BBC article about it from yesterday:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-37618884
Even Ronald McDonald has had to go into hiding:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-37630460
This idiot got his comeuppance though in a prank that went wrong.

Re: Creepy Clown Craze
How anyone can think that jumping out on unsuspecting passersby with scary masks on is a joke, I don't know.
I was at a summer camp (so we're talking back in the dark ages) and asleep in a dormitory when another inmate came in with an awful mask on and rubber claws over his hands which he used to scratch at me while shining a torch on the mask.
I have never forgotten the terror that I felt then. I wish I'd had the courage to kick him where it hurts most!

Re: Creepy Clown Craze
Just talking about this yesterday with a friend, they seem to have these headlines every day of late! It's like the monster rats a while ago, they seem to get fixated on a story and don't let go.
The thing is if people want to dress up in scary costumes why not? It's ok to dress up on Halloween in creepy scary clothes and knock on old peoples doors, yet this is not.........what a load of sphericals!

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2016/10/11/killer-clown-craze-teen-landed-with-criminal-record-while-police/
A teenager has been hit with a criminal record for a "killer clown" stunt near an infants school as the escalating craze sparked calls from police chiefs to remove fancy dress from shop shelves.
Forces vowed to prosecute all pranksters as numbers of sinister sightings continued to soar, with reports of violence as vigilantes fighting back at those in fancy dress.
Senior officers warned the trend, which started in the US, was wasting police resources as Kent Police revealed it alone had received reports of 59 clown-related incidents in just three days.
I certainly won't be wearing a clown outfit now when it's trick or treat time with mini Andrew.

Re: Creepy Clown Craze
Was just reading this one:
http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/ex-kickboxer-attacked-clown-10in-9029296
A 28-year-old dad fears he is now ‘disabled for life’ after a machete-wielding attacker dressed as a CLOWN slashed him with a 10inch blade.
Terrified Simon Chinery, 28, was left drenched in blood as the masked thug sliced his right hand "down to the bone"- in a confrontation he described as being like "something from a horror movie".
Simon says he has been left permanently unable to use the limb - and unable to work - after the attacker slit four ligaments.
The father-of-one was walking away from a service station cashpoint when the sinister clown crept up behind him.
During the tussle, Simon found himself grabbing the knife to prevent the clown doing any serious damage to his body - like slashing his neck - but says his fingers "exploded" after the altercation.
He was rushed to hospital for doctors to try and repair the damage - but Simon says he is now classed as disabled and been forced to give up his job as a joiner.
Simon, of Blackburn, Lancashire, said: "I had never been so petrified in all my life.
"It has left me feeling sick to the bottom of my stomach - it was literally something from a horror movie."

Re: Creepy Clown Craze
I don't have a problem with it if people are just dressing up for fun.
Has crossed my mind though that it could be used by unsavoury characters for sinister reasons.

Re: Creepy Clown Craze
I believe the more they print these stories the more the unsavoury characters who want to cause trouble will be prompted to do so. Just seen a poll on MSN and these are the questions. I will add it to the top of this thread.
Scary clown phenomenon hits UK: What do you think of the craze?
- It's fun - best prank in ages
- Creepy - but they're not hurting anyone
- Horrible - should be classed as terrorism
- Don't ask me - I'm one of them

Re Mirror report. Seeing as this has only just happened, I don't see how the chap can have been classified as disabled so soon.

It says he has lost his job too, would someone get rid of someone that quickly for having such an injury and as you say it only happened Sunday. Anyway it was at a service station cashpoint so the police will have lots of CCTV to look at.

I'm glad somebody made that connection. Carrying a knife is a serious offence, it's laughable to think that a significant number of people would suddenly decide to do it "for a laugh", never mind any concerns for the effects it would have on others. Also the main target appears to be kids on their way to school, what time are these jokers supposed to be getting up to begin expertly applying their clown disguises, 5AM? The majority of the hopeless stoners who would partake in this kind of thing don't venture above the duvet before teatime.
Previous to this there was a rash of stories about attempts to bundle kids into vehicles, which did actually culminate in the rape of a girl.
Elsewhere on this forum there is a thread running about just the kind of clown who would have a vested interested in creating a hysteria that kids aren't safe to walk the streets, I suggest anybody seeking some sense behind this "phenomenon" looks in the direction of the likes of him and his media mates.

Re: Creepy Clown Craze
Yes, I could just imagine Gamble dressing up as a clown and prowling around the nearest school to frighten children. Then rush back to his bedroom or wherever he tweets from and get in touch with said school to offer his 'protection' services and advice how to deal with it.

The police haven't even interviewed him according to the BBC report:
Lancashire Police are investigating the incident, but are yet to interview Mr Chinery.
A Lancashire Police spokesman said: "We have had it reported to us that a 28-year-old was walking home alone in Blackburn, at around 8.45pm on October 9, and has been approached by someone dressed as a clown.
"It appears the clown has pulled out a knife which the victim, from Blackburn, has tried to grab.
"He has received injuries to his fingers. He was taken to Royal Blackburn Hospital for treatment and was transferred to Royal Preston Hospital.
"An investigation has now been launched into the incident."
The story sounds like a McCann. Full of sh!t.
This chap probably had a domestic with his Mrs but wanted his 5 minutes worth by jumping on the clown wagon.

Re: Creepy Clown Craze
Ummm very quick to be declared disabled and going to be unable to work, a very quick discharge from hospital, and as an aside whoever let him out of hospital with that dressing should be shot. Also the fact that the police haven't yet interviewed him makes me think either it wasn't that serious an attack to begin with or he didn't actually report it to the police himself

Man dressed as Batman has been ‘chasing killer clowns’ in Cumbria
In maybe one of the strangest developments in the trend, that has seen people dress up as clowns to try scare others, the cape crusader has turned up to protect the good people of Whitehaven.
But unlike the Dark Knight, Cumbria’s version isn’t a vigilante (so don’t go trying to imitate him) but simply a reassuring sign for local children that someone is looking out for them.
It was the inspiration of Cumbria Superheroes who told BBC Cumbria that many children had been left traumatised by the clowns lurking around town so they decided to do something to help.

Whitehaven is one strange place. Must be the radioactive air.

Haha - that's brilliant.
Imagine minding your own business walking down the street and seeing Batman sprinting after a clown.

Haha I was right, that CCTV probably proved very useful he should imo go to jail for trying to make money and waste police time and frightening the public into thinking there was a crazed person in their town attacking people.Freedom wrote:We were right to be suspicious about that one!
