I feel bad for wondering this but were there any independent witnesses who actually saw Katrice in the supermarket before she disappeared?

I presume that back then there was no CCTV.

It must be bewildering for parents of other missing children to see the contrast between the publicity over their child and that of Madeleine.

Probably because the McCann case as them (the media) as a big player in why the case is still going after 11 years. Arguably criminally so.

The case is 1% the true facts (think basically the Bogart theory/interpretation) and the rest shared between media/Gov/Police. If I was to be kind you could argue the Police in both countries have been used/abused by the other two.

The reason(s) why the media and Gov were/are so deeply involved in the case is the real mystery. What happened to Madeleine has never been a mystery except to know what exactly happened to her body.

On the Daily Star link there is a short video about theories surrounding Madeleine's disappearance. Can anyone catch the name of the former cop who is mentioned at around 15 seconds and who has come up with a theory about caves?

I may be having a senior moment but I can't recall that theory.

How ironic that, in an article complaining about the lack of support for parents other than the McCanns, there is a video about Madeleine and, in the Mirror, there are many links on the right to stories about her.

The RMP announced today they had finished the 100-man operation and had not discovered any further information to help solve the mystery of the toddler's disappearance.
'The RMP have put a statement out saying that there is a conference and nothing has been found and the MoD have put a statement out to the press saying nothing has been found,' Richard Lee, Katrin's father, said.
'In actual fact that is not wholly accurate but I am not prepared to state, until such time as we have the conference out in Germany why it is not an accurate statement to make.'
An RMP spokesperson said: 'The Royal Military Police has completed the forensic search on the bank of the River Alme in Paderborn, Germany.
'The excavation, lasting almost five weeks, did not result in any further information to help solve the mystery of the toddler’s disappearance.
'The investigation continues and the Royal Military Police appeal for any further information in the case.'

I don't think I knew before that her father was there at the time of her disappearance too.

Note a reverse situation with a much more infamous case - he complains that the police failed to emphasise Katrice's eye problem.
