Terrorist attacks in Brussels

This morning there were 2 explosions at the airport and 1 in the metro.
Many deaths and wounded. Big chaos. Citizens got advice to stay inside.
Border between Belgium and France will be closed.

There so many news sites reporting, that I wouldn't know to which one to link.
But you'll find it easily. News is everywhere.

Dreadful.

Yes it's true, Mrs chirpyinsect, I wasfollowing the debate  about it on Twitter when the video first appeared. You can't believe everthing you see or read on the internet  can you?

Point taken, CI, but I was making a seriouspoint about internet forums, like many of you I suspect I followed all the online stuff about alleged nefarious behaviour by various MPs long before it got into the mainstream media. But it turned out that there wasn't any evidence to back up what old Nicky boy was spouting and the whole thing has now collapsed humiliatingly for Scotland Yard. Very important to check the detail of what people are saying and make your own mind up rather than just hoover it up regardless

Honestly: in such poor quality videos, I think any airport boarding area under attack might look the same ...

If there's any suggestion, that this is a hoax: I have today seen and  heard today a multitude of images of both the airport, the metro and the Rue de la Loi [which I know all to well ...], t.v. camera and cellphone videos & pictures, as well as respectable journalists on-site and people who were there when it happened and gave interviews fresh from the liver [as we say in Dutch].

Not at all Chatelaine. The problem I have is twofold. I think that it is very likely that people died today and that terror has been visited once again on a European city. But when footage appears that seems to say something other than the narrative we have been told, I think it pays to be very wary. Wary of ALL information from all sources.
We are told that Muslim terrorists perpetrated these acts which fits very well with Western propaganda. In other words mistrust and hatred are fed by the MSM to a population all too willing to swallow everything they are told.
I am no apologist for anyone carrying out an act of violence and we must do everything we can to eradicate such people. I just question who is actually responsible.
My second issue is with who is funding and supplying ISIS.

Eta  check out the shape of the legs of the man at the forefront in each video. Poor quality or not it would be a chance in a million if they were both to have adopted exactly the same stance.

I have been following events today in French, English, German and Dutch [French & Dutch in Belgium]. I've seen high-ranking journalists and national security specialists, whom I've never been able to doubt: intellectuals, free minds [Yes, that's still possible in The Netherlands]. And I have no doubt whatsoever, that this was yet another local ISIS attack. Maybe triggered by the arrest of a suspect for the Paris attacks. It is very well possible, that attacks in Brussels were already in the planning, but pushed forward after that.

Who released the CCTV footage though, claiming it was from the Zaventem airport bombing. Probably some nutter on twitter or youtube.

Intriguing! Is it the same woman or her mum? And how do we explain all this? Brussels isn't even in the USA!

IF she is a crisis actress as is claimed then she will go wherever she is sent which suggests prior knowledge. I have no actual evidence but I was sure I also saw her on a stretcher after the Paris attacks. I think it was from footage outside the restaurant but can't find it now.

Just read this on Snopes. Are you able to translate Chatelaine?

Precisely because supposedly reputable news companies put out wrong information. Why would they mistake footage from a 2011 bombing in Russia with footage from that very day in Brussels? It just can't be explained by an error.
I accept that sometimes people circulate stuff to create a conspiracy but this was a news agency that should never have made this mistake. They got caught out and had to come clean. What is going on in this world?

Thanks Chatelaine, I would be interested in your findings if any, sometimes I feel a little
knowledge is very dangerous on the net. So tragic when many people have lost their lives.

I am just interested to check these things out for myself. Of course the loss of even 1 life is tragic but I no longer believe anything I see until I have at least looked at both sides of the coin. Look at the McCann case. We are told we are conspiracy nutters to disbelieve the parents but we are all still here.

This is the reason I don't comment on most threads Chirpy, because I actually believe we
only have a quarter of the information from the PJ files. It seems fruitless to be honest, and
I have read today (from a reliable source) that things have changed within the PJ, whether
true or not, time will tell. Apologies if I gone off topic here.

Changed in what way, costello? For the good or bad?
