MADELEINE McCann’s parents have slammed claims they are plotting to make hundreds of thousands out of the 10th anniversary of their daughter’s disappearance.
The couple’s spokesman Clarence Mitchell shut down claims the couple are accepting huge fees for 10th anniversary media interviews.

He told The Sun Online: “They want to make it clear that they are not making any money out of Madeleine’s disappearance. Any claims are spurious nonsense but fits in with the Portuguese agenda.”
Kate and Gerry McCann, both 48, are bracing themselves for the heartbreaking milestone in less than three months and despite being bombarded with offers from across the world they have, so far, turned them all down.
As interest increases daily to clinch the sought-after decade deal by broadcasting and publishing giants, the family have admitted: “It’s crazy!”
Mitchell said: “Kate and Gerry have not decided on any media interviews surrounding the anniversary yet but if any deal is done it will be extremely limited and no payment will be involved.
“Any suggestion they will be paid is completely inaccurate and utter rubbish!”
Portuguese media have suggested former GP Kate and heart doctor Gerry, from Rothley, Leics., are set to receive 100,000 euros (£85,086) from British deals and 400,000 euros (£340,345) from American chats.
The couple are considering two pooled interviews in Britain, one for print through the country’s national agency Press Association and one for broadcasters.
Both are being organised through Scotland Yard, Mitchell explained. He said: “There will be no fee.”


The spokesman added: "The interest on the 10th anniversary has been vast, even crazy! Kate and Gerry have turned down down numerous offers of paid interviews in the past.
"But they have never accepted interview fees. They once accepted hospitality fees many years ago after travelling to America to appear on Oprah Winfrey, for flights and hotels.”
The only time Kate ever received any payment connected to Maddie’s disappearance in May 2007 - £1 million before tax – was from her own book simply entitled “Madeleine” and published in 2011

She was also given a newspaper serialisation fee, which went straight into the Maddie pot – a Fund set up when the three-year-old first went missing with donations from the generous public and big-hearted celebrities to help pay for investigators to find her and bring her perpetrators to justice.
Madeleine McCann disappeared from a holiday villa in the Portuguese resort of Praia da Luz in May 2007.
The couple recently hit out at BBC1 drama The Moorside, which told the story of Shannon Matthews' abduction in 2008 - but repeatedly referenced Madeleine's disappearance.
A close friend of the couple said: “They are still doing the best they can while coping with the trauma of their daughter’s disappearance after nearly 10 years.
"Then a supposedly responsible broadcaster makes a programme about a bogus kidnap and brings Madeleine McCann into it. Kate and Gerry are naturally hurt and very perplexed

No-one believes the fairy story anymore. If they did an interview it would be with pre-arranged questions and not to point out any of the inconsistent s of which there are many. The public are not behind you anymore give it up.

KATE McCann has been thrust into a global bidding war as TV chat shows and news giants battle to try and sign her up for talks on the 10th anniversary of daughter Madeleine’s disappearance.

The anguished mum, who has no idea if Maddie is dead or alive after nearly a decade, has been offered huge bids for an exclusive interview, a friend said today.

But Kate, still reeling from her shock libel defeat against a former Portuguese cop this week while trying to enjoy her younger twins’ 12th birthdays, has not yet considered any deal.

The ex GP and heart doctor husband Gerry now face sizeable court costs after losing their civil action on appeal and previously-won but not paid £360,000 damages which they had been ring-fencing for the ongoing search for Maddie.

The brave parents are bracing themselves for the heart wrenching 10th anniversary of Maddie’s kidnap in just 12 weeks.

Breakfast telly queen Lorraine Kelly and a pal of Kate’s could be a firm favourite although ITV would probably only pay a fraction of a fee being offered by brash American broadcasters.

A while ago the Mc's and Mitch would've been licking their lips in trying to entice the highest bidder.

I'm thinking a deliberate attempt is in place to smear them with so much negativity that nobody will touch them with a barge-pole.

And I'm also hoping that by that point they'll be on remand in a Portuguese prison awaiting trial somewhere. All 3 of them.

Or is he just trying to make out that they're playing ball and in cahoots with Scotland Yard like they've always done....

Which clearly they're not.

They are having fits over the road about it.  Don't people realise that most, nearly all  press conferences re active investigations are organised by the police.

The over the road mantra is that the Police are 'all in on it' anyway.

And everybody else according to Tony Bennett's latest nonsense poll.

In that latest faking it programme the police person said they were totally shocked when Phillpott organised a press conference, they said it was usually unheard of and the police organise them.  The famous Mitchell and McCann press conference, which featured Dave Edgar was of course when the case was not active, but shelved.

Just wondering about this, and this is just a question as I don't understand how the law works, but if this encourages thousands or millions of people to watch the documentary would It give defence reason to state it could not be a fair trial.? Could this be a bit ofreverse psychology

Don't forget in Portugal they don't have a jury. I think it's 3 judges & I wouldn't think they'd be swayed by a documentary or anything else for that matter.

The heartbroken parents face fresh turmoil after a controversial TV documentary based on ex-cop Goncalo Amaral’s shocking book ‘The Truth of The Lie’ emerged on YouTube.

Madeleine’s parents – who are preparing themselves for the tenth anniversary of their daughter’s disappearance in May – are now considering legal action against the show.
A close pal of Maddie’s family branded the documentary, which was barred after the McCanns launched a successful lawsuit in Portugal, a “lunatic conspiracy theory”.
They told The Sun Online: “YouTube videos with lunatic conspiracy theories against the McCann’s have sadly been available on the website for years. It’s not just Amaral but all the anti’s spouting their nonsense.

“Kate and Gerry can’t silence them all but their lawyers will be looking at any they feel are potentially libellous and damaging.”
Goncalo Amaral, who headed the initial investigation into Maddie’s disappearance, wrote The Truth Of The Lie in 2008.
It accused Kate and Gerry McCann of faking Maddie’s abduction – prompting the couple to launch a successful libel claim against the former detective.But the couple have previously been left reeling after having their £395,000 libel victory revoked by Lisbon appeal judges who overturned a ban on his book in April.

To add insult to injury, Amaral is now planning to sue the couple for compensation after winning his appeal.

The couple have on board the country’s top libel lawyers, London-based Carter Ruck.
Clarence Mitchell, the McCanns' spokesman, said today: “Any potentially defamatory material found online will be reviewed and assessed by Kate and Gerry’s lawyers. They will decide if it is appropriate to take any legal action.”

The Sun Online today revealed the McCanns slammed Portuguese media claims they are plotting to reap in hundreds of thousands of pounds from 10th anniversary interviews.
Mitchell branded the claims "spurious nonsense", adding: "They want to make it clear that they are not making any money out of Madeleine’s disappearance."
Madeleine vanished from a holiday rental apartment in Praia da Luz, Algarve, in May 2007.
Her disappearance made headlines across the world and the search for Maddie is thought to have cost £10m so far.

It opens with a bold statement: 'The documentary the McCanns don't want you to watch! Huge red letters than flash onto screen: 'BANNED'- emphasising: 'Banned by the McCanns in September 2016' followed by: 'Decision: Overturned on October 19th 2011 by a High Court judge.'

Earlier this month Portuguese Supreme Court judges ruled against the McCanns last-ditch appeal over Mr Amaral's 2008 book - and said the lifting of their status as 'arguidos' - or formal suspects - did not mean they were innocent.

I still don't get all of this, where are they getting the money to retain Carter Ruck as this company must be costing thousands. I thought they were fast running out of money? If they have nothing to fear and believe that Mr Amaral and others are spouting nonsense why bother wasting money on these lawyers to try and sue, ban and censor them? They still also have their own spokesperson which is very strange to me to me. Don't these two understand that what you resist persists.
