Defiant Kate and Gerry McCann have rejected a new plea to help re-create the night their daughter Maddie vanished.

The couple had a tense showdown with Portuguese cops last week.




After refusing to fly back, they have now been told to reply "within days" to yet another request for them to attend a reconstruction in two weeks.

But sources say they will again say no.

Police want Kate, 40, and Gerry, 39, and their Tapas Seven pals to return.

But the couple have "grave reservations" about cops' motives.

They fear police aren't interested in finding Maddie and only want to charge them with neglect over the disappearance of Maddie, now five, in Praia da Luz last May.

Spokesman Clarence Mitchell said: "They're still considering what to do."

The neglect message was right from the start......here it doubles up as a excuse!!

Bampots, as with most things, people when they make a mistake, or do something wrong, try to make excuses. Invariably they try and get their side in first before the other side. The Tapas lot knew very well that it would very quickly be known to the world that they were all sitting together dining and had been seen, and also booked a table for every night for all of them, so to minimise the damage, what did they do, push their side of the story. We know how it went, 'it was like sitting in outr back garden' - and we had that pushed at us from every interview from the start, minimising it and cushioning the fall out. It's human nature, so I believe that is it really did happen, that way.

CF im not saying that some of them didnt go to tapas ....but there was no neglect imo!

What's becoming increasingly apparent is that if you do believe in 'neglect', then you are somehow now perceived as being a McCann supporter.

Divide and conquer...

It's ridiculous, it's perfectly feasible there was neglect but no abduction, just as it's equally feasible there was no neglect or abduction. They're desperate, and we must stand together and not fall for it.

Staff knew kids were left alone, they'd no choice but to admit it, otherwise, a child could have disappeared in the middle of the night, no child needed to be neglected. Surely they didn't pretend to be checking every night just in case, and if something happened way earlier how could they have done their tennis, jogging, winning and dining the rest of the week? They said they could see the apartment and it was the same as eating in your garden, all to make it not look as bad as it did. The same with dirty nappies, sea bass, meat and certifying death. Just my opinion and my belief on all this sad case.
