I really don't think that suspects should be named before (and unless) they are charged.
I thought there were legal restrictions in that respect but obviously there is a way round them.

It seems the neighbours informed the press of the name, the police would not say or confirm. The enquiry has now widened to a second hospital in LiverpoolFreedom wrote:I really don't think that suspects should be named before (and unless) they are charged.

Cheshire police would not confirm the name of the suspect, however Letby was identified by neighbours in Chester on Tuesday. Police said the woman was arrested that morning and taken into custody.

So it must be legal for the media to publish names found out from sources other than the police.

Have they named the suspect? Or have they merely named the nurse who happens to live in the house that the police are investigating as part of that enquiry?
The article I read merely stated that a neighbour said that nurse B. Edpan (name changed!) lived at that house.

The BBC link definitely names Nurse Edpan (!) as the person arrested.

She looks like butter wouldn't melt in her mouth. Can anyone tell me why journalists always feel the need to tell us the value of a subject's home? What relevance does it have?

A not guilty on one charge which suggests some one else , if its natural , charges would be dropped not recorded as not guilty surely.
