VIDEO - Tapas or Millenium
The McCanns say here it was a last minute thing and they were going to go to the Millenium but went to the Tapas Bar instead. Yet in statements we know that the Tapas Table was booked for every night for the group at 8 or 8.30.

Re: VIDEO - Tapas or Millenium
A good point. As is so often the case, they simply can't keep their lies straight. Kate in her book is quite clear that they pre-booked the Tapas all week - apart from the first night at Millennium - which was bending the rules. And there is nothing in her book which supports their claim above, that they toyed with the idea of eating at the Millennium on Thursday evening rather than the Tapas.
However, this video provides another fascinating insight into the mind-sets of the pair, imo.
As usual, as soon as their mouths open, lies come out (imo of course!)
Their language and facial expressions give them away - so full of insincerity. Kate glancing upwards, Gerry grimacing. A total giveaway in my opinion.
This, once again, is a priceless example of the Mcs modus operandi! Such artifice to obscure, divert and obfuscate.
The Tapas was always planned to be the stage for the abduction story, imo. But to conceal this intent, they claim that they almost went to the Tapas instead. As if it was some kind of 'fluke' decision to eat at the Tapas rather than a deliberate strategy to achieve a certain objective.
This distortion serves several purposes, imo.
As already stated, it seeks to obscure the fact that the Tapas restaurant was all along planned to be the scene for the enactment of the (staged/faked) abduction.
I think it also seeks to try to show that Madeleine was alive and well on Thursday evening - as dining at the Millennium would mean taking all three children with them - when I suspect that was not the case.
I really do wonder where exactly they all were every night that week?
In many of the OC, Luz, tripadvisor reviews guests (on half board presumably) write that there was a 'dine out' night when the restaurant was closed.
This reviewer writing in 2009 - so not that long after 'the abduction' states that their MW package included 5 dinners.
Yet there is no mention of a 'dine out' night by TM. Let alone two 'dine out' nights.
Curiouser and curiouser!
Our package with MW gave us all breakfasts (good), 5 dinners (also pretty good), but no lunches. The first day we ate lunch at the Mill (poor), a few days we ate at the adult pool (fair to poor), and another couple of days we bought food from the supermarket (well stocked, but not cheap). MW used to include wine with dinner but now that has to be paid for separately, however it was good and only €2 per glass.

Yes Kate said somewhere ( maybe in her book) that she was horrified when she found out that there was a note in the booking ledger for the Tapas that they needed to break the rules on block booking because they were leaving the kids alone.
Now wouldn't that have been written in Portuguese anyway if it existed at all?

September 2008 review:
The food provided under the Mark Warner package (breakfast daily and 5 evening meals per week) was really delicious - plenty of variety (although perhaps a little less if you are vegetarian) and all food really well cooked. The Portuguese evening (Thursdays) and BBQ (Fridays) are well worth going to.

August 2008 review:
For the Tuesday and Friday meals, we ate at O Antonio's and the restaurant opposite the Church overlooking the bay - both of which were excellent.

July 2008 review:
We booked 7 nights to eat an evening meal at the restaurant, however, on a Saturday its a welcome buffet for Mark Warner, Sunday its a "bonding dinner for Mark Warner and Tuesday it's closed !

How on earth can you almost think something?

Re: VIDEO - Tapas or Millenium
Am I right in thinking that both the Tapas and the Millennium were included in the (5 night?) half board option?
It would appear that the Millennium was buffet style, while the Tapas was 'a la carte'/
Would both the Tapas and the Millennium have been closed on 'dine out' nights?
Tripadvisor review June 2006:
We were on a half board basis and I'm a bit of a snob when it comes to buffets but the food was superb. The millennium restaurant had a great selection of food which changed every night.. You got good quality wine included in the price and the staff were very helpful and friendly. We did eat at the a la carte tapas restaurant but preferred the selection and quality of food in the millennium.
