Re: Child rescue alert at Stobo
Kate and Gerry McCann were among a group of 30 guests and supporters of UK charity Missing People at Stobo Castle for the first Child Rescue Alert dinner in Scotland.
Their daughter Madeleine went missing on a family holiday in Portugal eight years ago.
The local event was hosted by Stobo owner Stephen Winyard who is also a patron of the Child Rescue Alert system which is managed by the charity.
The Child Rescue Alert system, which is a partnership between CEOP, a command of the National Crime Agency, the charity Missing People and Groupcall, offers vital, rapid public outreach when a child is known to have been abducted or their life is believed to be at immediate risk.
Amber Alert, a similar system in the United States, has been responsible for finding over 750 child safe and well. In the past year, more than 280,000 people have signed up to receive free Child Rescue Alerts to their phones via sms, email and an app.
The aim of the event at Stobo was to raise funds and to encourage companies to commit to registering their colleagues and employees to the system.
Child Rescue Alert has so far been made possible thanks to support from players of People’s Postcode Lottery, who have awarded £225,000 to the project, allowing the Child Rescue Alert to launch last year.
The awareness event raised an impressive £17,700 with many of those present also pledging to encourage their colleagues to sign up to the Alert system.

Stephen Winyard was an early supporter. I thought he might have realised by now that he was taken for a jackass but sadly not.

Re: Child rescue alert at Stobo
These wealthy chaps, Winyard and Kennedy, ploughing hundreds and thousands in to help Kate and Gerry...?
What is the link?
'I'm a millionaire and even though I don't know you (allegedly), I will believe everything you say and give you loads of money and help prove to the world that you are innocent. Even though everything indicates that you are far from it.'
Madness.

I agree - odd thing to do when you don`t know the full details of the case or whether they are guilty or not.
He pledged £1 million one week after MBM went missing according to this
"The £1m reward has been put up by Stephen Winyard, 57, who owns Stobo Castle in the Scottish Borders."
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/6645341.stm
Discussed on 3As

Wasn`t GM employed in sports` massage at one time - maybe that`s how they knew each other.

Isn't this a very old article?
ETA there have been the pictures of Kate McCann wearing that dress, in a garden that looks awfully like the Stobo Castle grounds, and they have been around for a long, long time....

I don't think so. It's dated today and refers to the disappearance of Madeleine 8 years ago which is correct.

Her hair is longer I think in the article published today than in the photo from last year.

So Kate is at a bash in the Scottish Borders,
Gerry is working full time at the local hospital
Who is looking after the twins ?
Oh, sorry, they are now 8 / 10 / 12 so can look after themselves Or perhaps they have a 3 year old babysitter.

According to that photo, Gerry is at Stobo as well. I hope it's coming out of his annual leave entitlement.

Have you seen the last readable sentence of that article from October 2014?
Last month McCann and her husband Gerry handed the police an 80-page dossier containing hundreds of tweets.

OMG - So all dodgy organizations if the McCann's are involved.
How DISGUSTING given that the McCann's child 'disappeared' in the most suspicious circumstances imaginable.
Wow, how DIRTY is all this 'missing children' supposed charity stuff?

Everton match day programme
http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/news/liverpool-news/kate-mccann-urges-people-join-11029366
Madeleine McCann’s mum has written a guest column in Everton’s matchday programme today - about the crucial moments to save a child after they go missing.
The Liverpool-born parent wants people to get behind the Child Rescue Alert service, which was launched last year.
And Kate has penned an extract for the Blues’ programme for their FA Cup clash against Chelsea this evening, asking supporters to sign up to the scheme.
The alert service sends out immediate text-type warnings to a collection of different organisations, telling them a child is in danger and missing.
Maddie, three, disappeared on May 3, 2007, as she slept in a holiday apartment in Praia da Luz, on the Algarve.

Kate, whose parents Sue and Brian Healy live in Allerton, has written for the Toffee’s programme: “The more people aware of the missing child, the more ‘eyes and ears’ there will be assisting the search and the greater our chances of finding that child quickly.
“Statistics show that the initial hours after a child has been abducted are crucial. We therefore need as many people as possible.
“On the night that Madeleine was stolen from us, we thought that some kind of alert would have gone out immediately to border agencies, neighbouring countries, the media and, hence, to the public.
“That didn’t happen.
“There was actually no system in place to enable this to happen.
“Crucial hours were lost. We’ll never know the difference this could have made.”
She ends by writing: “Please sign up today.
“You could save a child’s life.
Handout photo of Madeleine McCann. Photo: PA Wire
“Thank you once again for your support.
“I’m very proud to be Blue.”
The service is similar to the Amber Alert system which has been used abroad for a number of years.
Kate added: “The Amber Alert system in the USA has assisted in finding over 800 children since it was first launched.
“Amber Alert Netherlands, a more recently developed system, has been used on average four times a year over the past few years.
“In 64 per cent of these cases the child was found thanks to tips arising from the Amber Alert.
“For me, it’s a no brainer - the UK needs a well-functioning Child Rescue Alert system.”
There are 340,000 signed to the service in the UK, far less than the Netherlands which has 2.5 million.
The Child Rescue Alert service will be plugged at Goodison today, with an animated film shown on the big screen during the build-up to the game.

The appeal comes as the investigator who claimed missing Maddie had been smuggled into Paraguay was accused of making a ‘grave error.’
The tot, has been living in the city of Aregua ‘in the custody of a woman’, according to researcher Miraz Ullah Ali.
However, his claims caused huge confusion with local police saying they had no information about any sightings of Maddie.
In recent days, his actions have been criticised by experts, including the chief of Interpol Victor Tandi.
To sign up to the Child Rescue Alert service text HERO and your postcode to 85080.
