Our Main Stream Media

It was announced by George Osborne yesterday that he is allotting £289 million to the BBC World Service. Obviously our government are panicking that a large percentage of people are getting their world news from Stations like RT and Al-Jazeera, plus all the internet bloggers. Imagine how worrying this is for the UK and USA governments.

Where do you all get your world news from?

I listen to both the BBC and to RT to compare stories. I find RT much broader and far more interesting.

Yes me too Costello, I never have the telly on in the daytime usually, unless there is something special I want to see, like the Davis Cup tomorrow. It's 79 years since Great Britain won it, so will be glued over next few day. Just a useless bit of info for you

Yes, I do that as well. The differences in root perspectives really show, but I suppose we all have a bias towards news that expresses our own perspectives.

I have to add I don't read any news from the tabloids. Which is really strange as I sell most of them in my little shop. I have to confess to being caught by some customers most mornings as I quickly check a copy of the Sun for any McCann articles. It is really funny at times, but all in a good cause is my excuse.

Since I moved to yet another foreign country, I too get nowadays all of my news from the internet. Since I'm fluent in 5 languages and can read in another 10 it is quite interesting, I must say. They either copy each other literally OR they come up with differing information, depending on the subject and their nationality. I have to admit, that that way I also do read some tabloid stuff ;-)
