Re: Madeleine McCann Books
Just gone through the chapters all in one go.
Feels like it's written by someone who's been on the case from day one. The style seems familiar to me.
Also feels as if Winter and Goose (PeterMac not me) have tried to live up to their promise of a definitive account and obviously failed as the analytical capabilities of the reviewer far exceed those of the writers. Here and there the gaps and outright lies of KH1 come through but it looks as if there are plenty of people who would take this new account of the truth to be gospel.
Iirc soon after KH1 was published there was a complaint that copyright was being infringed by in-depth reviews.

Re: Madeleine McCann Books
Would advise those interested in Anthony Summers to go and have a quick look online, Amazon and elsewhere, at reviews and synopsis of an earlier book of his, written with Tom Mangold : "The File on the Tsar ", which see the authors on the trail of new evidence which emerges showing another possible scenario for the fate of the Romanov family, that they were not all murdered at the Ipatiev House in Ekaterinburg,[ Nicholas was shot for political reasons but the remaining family were moved elsewhere].
I am re-reading this in the light of the new Madeleine book and the early chapters prove interesting when the authors write about accepted facts which have become so because the definitive historical account has pushed a premise of multiple murder whilst glossing over or burying that evidence which points in a different, less horrific direction. They are also interestingly authors with a lot to say about how an investigation can go astray through following false leads, being hampered by political interference, having multiple investigations running concurrently.
Just a few minutes reading a synopsis of this work of non -fiction [ in the history section of my local library] along with some reviews should give some idea of how thorough Mr Summers is and help you to decide if he is a writer of well-researched and reliable non-fiction or if his work is fiction cleverly dressed in other clothes.

Re: My McCann Thoughts blog not blogging any more
Post unchained melody Today at 3:28 am
No doubt a joke blog brought to us by AndrewR, What Lies Behind the Sofa, Team McCann,
Media Monitoring Unit plc, etc
MI5 are all over this this for one reason - Political cover up. Who and Why ?
Paedophilia is the why (for future political progress). Who is the who?
All speculation, of course
They're attacking us every day. Ignore it.

Hear hear WLBTS.

Re: Madeleine McCann Books
Where is the blogspot server situated? Where is this Richard Phillips publishing his blog from?
All of these would affect copyright law.
It cannot be assumed that he is in the uk. Blogspot does a redirect to whatever country the viewer is in. For example you could write a blog called something.blogspot.pt but if accessing it from the UK it would come up as something.blogspot.co.uk

The McCann files has not been updated since 15th August
"Stop the Myths" ( rinses mouth) has been "closed for maintenance" for days
S&S facebook purged of the book
And now Richard Phillips visited by "men in suits" (which implies more than a letter from a solicitor).
Interesting, I've not visited "Stop the Myths" before. It is indeed "closed for maintenance", but I find the scrolling message curious:
"In case you can log in, please do NOT post!!!"
And everywhere, all is quiet.

To clarify. I have been advised & persuaded that a blog under my real name is not advisable.

Advised by who I wonder?
Richard, get yourself on this forum and call yourself Bob or something....

Advised by any sensible character with a wee bit of experience in these matters, I would think. You wouldn't catch me publishing anything under MY real name, neither.

Re: Madeleine McCann Books
There must be hundreds, if not thousands, of people called Richard Philips.
How could the one who wrote the blog be identified?

So why haven't these 'men in suits' paid a visit to Richard D Hall I wonder?

Re: Madeleine McCann Books
Perhaps they have?
I suppose it depends on the message the 'suits' have delivered. If a legal one - copyright or defamation, say - the blogger may be on shakier ground than the experienced Hall.
If it's intimidation, again Hall, due to the nature of his work, may be more robust than an ordinary man with a blog.

Yes, very true Dee Coy.
On a side note. Has Summers and Swan closed their Twitter account down does anyone know?
Not a twitterer myself but occasionally have a look in what's happening on the #mccann hashtag thingy.
Anyway when you click on #summersandswan hashtag then it just directs you to 'tweets about' and not to their homepage thingy like it used to...

The Summers and Swan twitter account is still there:
https://twitter.com/summersandswan/with_replies
But their latest posting is from September 26, and it's about Obama.
The previous posting is a retweet from September 22, someone claiming the book deserves better reviews.

I wouldn't be surprised if the publishers have just taken a look at the sales and told Summers to shut the **** up.

Re: Madeleine McCann Books
So it is Canada. Thanks for that. Not sure what I was looking at earlier then.
Mind you, I would be very surprised if they tweet anything about that embarrassment of a book ever again.
I doubt they will ever write a book again for that matter.

I just keep shaking my head, "What were they thinking?"
A gross miscalculation of public interest in the McCann case.
A gross miscalculation of how much the informed public actually knows about the case.
A completely flawed thesis.
A very badly researched document.
All IMO.

It may be that the publisher has decided to withdraw the book. IIRC the release of this book was supposed to coincide with the Portugal case reaching some kind of conclusion, but that hasn't happened and isn't likely to happen for some time now.
A bad book with bad timing.
IMO.

There's a serious problem with "time" in every aspect of this case, isn't it?

All is clear now. So I'm back.
So now I know what the advice was all about.
I don't think my blog contained any threats or abuse aimed at Kate & Gerry McCann. Quite the opposite in fact. I have pointed out ways in which the existing evidence might be used to help clear them of any suspicion.
Today's papers and SkyNews broadcasts make it clear that such suspicion does exist. It exists for one very simple reason. The case of the disappearance of Madeleine McCann remains a mystery. No one can even state with 100% confidence what crime occurred. In fact it is still not 100% clear when the crime occurred. So, I have decided to re-open my blog.
The detailed S&S book review may have to go on hold. Others have done a better job of reviewing the book than I was doing anyway. I have finished reading the book now and almost wish I hadn't bothered. It really isn't a very good book. My criticisms of the early chapters apply equally to the later ones. I was hoping to find some revelatory section that would prove to me that Madeleine was abducted. There was no such section. If there is demand I may return to the detailed review.
I remain mystified. The evidence in the public domain casts some doubt on the McCann version of events, but does not disprove those accounts. I will continue to post about aspects of the case that I think are important because they are open to further investigation & hopefully progress.

I beg to differ. He should read Michael McLean e-book - link below. Plenty of disproved evidence there for a start.

Excellent book by McLean, indeed, Tigger. Well researched, intelligent deduction, pointing to proof and inconsistencies and everything 100% referenced. Bravo.
