'So there is a money tree'
Wonder what people think of this deal with the DUP. 1 billion pounds for Northern Ireland. Whilst I do not begrudge the money for them, how come everything is being cut to the bone here with no money for services, the old, and the disabled. Suddenly to keep themselves in power the Tories have conjured up all this money. So does that now mean that we will suffer even more because of this wheeling and dealing, and deal that none of us voted for. Mrs May did not get a mandate to rule this country, she is now doing deals and giving away money we are not supposed to have. So as David Dimbleby said yesterday 'There is a money tree' Yet Theresa May in answer to a nurse said they did not have a money tree they could shake!!
Video here of the great answer from David Dimbleby.........
Question Time: 'So there is a money tree?'
International Trade Secretary Liam Fox is asked where cash for the government's £1 billion DUP deal is coming from.
PM Theresa May had previously said on BBC Question Time that "there isn't a magic money tree that we can shake".

Okay, this is my take on the story, having seen the photos.
This girl is a victim of our consumerist society which equates happiness, attractiveness and wealth (not just financial wealth) with physical attributes and material possessions.
Looking at the photos of her she is overtly sexualizing herself. As though in order to be attractive she needs to display her boobs and wear overtly 'sexy' clothes. A bit like, imo, if a man (or indeed woman) feels they need to drive a flashy car in order to be attractive.
These overt displays of sexuality (or wealth) do not make a person more attractive, imo. They are 'trappings' - they might make someone look twice but they do not make that person inherently more attractive in my opinion.
I actually agree with what she is saying - you shouldn't be able to have access to such a large amount of money at such a young age. It doesn't matter whether the money comes from winning the lottery or from an inheritance.
Money is the root of all evil, so they say.
ETA: The Brazilian bum lift says it all - I mean WTF..... the latest 'designer' plastic surgery that will guarantee your huge attractiveness ....what nonsense...I think it is criminal that there are highly qualified people who are prepared to exploit young people's insecurity to make so much money....
ETA No 2: 50K on plastic surgery.....at such a tender age.....
ETA No 3: Yes, money also brings out the worst in the vultures who like to feed at the trough....Madeleine McCann case a good example, imo...

The saying is that it's the love of money that is the root of all evil.
I have just been notified that I'm going to get a cheque for a penny from Tesco in respect of a closed account. I am going to try not to let this change my life.

I have now received my cheque. I would feel a right nit taking it to my bank so I'm going to shred it - or should I frame it as an example of sheer silliness?

I assume that indicates an e-mail provider in Russia?
I also get loads of messages from Russian women craving my company - I'll get even more if they know that I have pots of money.

This case gives me hope that a disabled man known to me who was defrauded of his life savings by a couple he thought were his friends will eventually get justice. At the moment the police don't think there's enough evidence to proceed.

DON'T DONATE - Daisy Dymyd death: Fundraising page 'fake', police warn
Daisy Dymyd death: Fundraising page 'fake', police warn
1 hr ago
Police have warned people not to donate to a fraudulent online fundraising account set up in the name of a six-year-old girl.
Daisy Dymyd was found unconscious at her home in Tuxford, Nottinghamshire on Monday and was pronounced dead at Sheffield Children's Hospital.
On Friday, her family told police a fake account purportedly set up by her uncle gathering donations for her funeral had appeared on JustGiving.com.
The account has so far raised £150.
The force said in a tweet on Friday: "A fake fundraising account has been set up, which is allegedly raising money for Daisy Dymyd's family.
"Daisy died earlier this week and her family ask for privacy at this difficult time. Please don't donate. Her family is not raising money and we are investigating. Thank you."

The family said in a tribute on Thursday: "Our beautiful daughter was the centre of our world and we can't believe she's gone.
"She will be so missed by everyone that knew her. She was a such a happy little girl who lit up our lives and made the world brighter."
Nottinghamshire Police have said they will pass a file to the coroner and that no arrests have been made.

Let's hope that this doesn't lead to a mega hissy fit and a legal claim to challenge the will!

It would be daft to leave a son money when he`s already loaded.

I agree with this and presumably Sheila's daughters are okay about it.

I disagree with you on leaving the money to children. If they have been good kids then why not, and split it and give a bit to charity. Why let you kids struggle if you can help them. Obviously if they were not good kids and caused many problems for you then no.
I agree though about having to have the older parent in later life and looking after them, this is ok if you really want to do it, but it places such a guilt and burden on families, so the idea of choosing a care home seems a good one to me.

Re: Money brings out the worst in some people
I wish I'd asked my mother more about how she came to have her elderly mother living with us for the last few years of the latter's life.
It was a great strain on her because she wasn't in the best of health herself and had a disabled husband and two little darlings (not - my sister and me) to look after as well.
Mum had an older brother and sister who also had young children but in other ways were much better provided to look after their mother.
I just hope that I don't become a burden for my son - more than he would say that I already am!
