Is this the first step in the rehabilitation of Dr McCann? Too valuable by far to be allowed to languish in prison?

Ironic really when Gerry is trying to save the taxpayer millions.
Not sure what the hell is going on
It's just like a game between 2 sides. 1 side trying to kick them down and the other trying to bring them back up again.
Another orchestrated move from Team McCann anyway.... Get it out there what a sterling job Professor McCann is doing. Anything and everything to deflect from the real news.
The comments left sum up exactly what everyone thinks of him.

He doesn't comes across as caring and compassionate though does he?
A storm damaged tree? A colony of ants? Nope, you wouldn't think it but he's talking about human beings.
'It can often take six months to recover, but if they survive they tend to do very well afterwards.

Talking about himself and his missus perhaps...?

It only took them a couple of days to recover according to this infamous interview with John McCann!

The article seems to have disappeared from Mail online front page, though still there if the search facility is used. Did the Mail or maybe someone else not like the comments ?

What does the professor think the 60m should be spent on then?

The person/s who gets paid by the Daily Mail to moderate the comments loves them. Hence why they have not been removed and are still there.

No comments left in the Irish Sun article I posted up before. Although there a few left up on the English Sun version. Very complimentary as usual:

As an example:

Well you cost us 12m in searching for an imaginary abductor you scambag

Those comments are so much more interesting than Professor McCann's statements aren't they? So what he does now is lecture? Is that correct? Loves his own voice doesn't he, a job where he can ramble. Is this Professorship to do with his continuing Research Fellowship?
If I remember correctly his employment was to do with research into MRI etc, absolutely nothing to do with surgery so all these reports of 'heart surgeon' were, quite simply, lies that he has allowed to continue. imo.

Well ... I'm not a fan of him, au contraire, BUT I do agree that too many interventions are not warranted for ...

Gerry McCann, Professor of Cardiac Imaging and Honorary Consultant Cardiologist from the University of Leicester Department of Cardiovascular Sciences,
I don't know anything about the medical world etc.
So he doesn't work in a hospital anymore? Is that right?
And he gets paid by Leicester university and not the NHS? Is that right as well?

Do any of us really know what too many interventions mean? Let's seriously hope Prof McCann knows. Since 1961 until 2009 DEATH from coronary heart disease has HALVED!!

Figures in above link......
If that's too many interventions.....let's hope to high heaven he gets his research right and this is not just a cost excercise......and that when an intervention is denied under new criteria it is best for the patient!

He will be paid and employed by the university to lead a research team in the area of cardiology. It may be jointly funded.
He will have no routine contact with NHS patients, other than as part of research projects.
I suspect he was shunted into this as a way of keeping him out of the public eye.
The world of academia may well suit him.

Thanks, Froggy.
So when exactly did he get shunted from out of the hospital and into the classroom then...?

Wasn't his posting to the Netherlands in connection with MRI scanning into heart disease? Anyone more au fait with the medical world than I ? I doubt if (apart from some press photos) he has ever come into contact with patients, thank goodness.

Yeah, I remember that bit of press film. Poor patient, some stranger using a stethoscope on him !! Did you notice GM says "How did you find the scan"? well what does he expect the bedridden bloke to say to that "Oh fine, very pleasant, enjoyable, .......", what can he say? Idiot GM, he would never be capable of a bedside manner so best he stays in the office.

I always found that part of the clip most bizarre. It was almost as if GM got his camera pal (Corner?) to follow him into some random patients room whilst the 'real' doctors were absent and he picked up some stethoscope and they did a very quick shoot when nobody was looking.
