Re: Maddie cops quiz Brit paedo in Malta prison - Mirror 3/12/14
British police investigating the disappearance of Madeleine McCann have quizzed a convicted paedophile said to have been in the Algarve when she vanished.
Officers from Scotland Yard flew to Malta to question Roderick MacDonald, 77, in his prison cell in a bid to uncover any vital clues about who snatched little Madeleine, aged three at the time.
MacDonald was questioned about his alleged connection to a child sex gang operating in Portugal, linked to her disappearance.
It is believed he was pressed on what he knew about a spate of burglaries which occurred in the Praia da Luz resort where Madeleine’s family were staying when she went missing in 2007.
British detectives reckon the burglaries – believed to be carried out by a lone intruder between 2004 and 2010 – could be the key to finally solving what happened to her.
The latest development comes as it was confirmed 11 people – four of whom are thought to be British – due to be quizzed over Madeleine’s disappearance next week will be asked to attend a police station as witnesses, not as suspects.
Scotland Yard said they would not give a “running commentary” on the investigation but their
visit to MacDonald was confirmed by Maltese Government officials.
MacDonald was due to be extradited to the UK after he was remanded in custody in Malta.
But when detectives there searched his flat in the quiet village of Sannat they uncovered a stash of child pornography and sentenced him to 16 months in prison.
This forced Scotland Yard detectives to jet out to Malta in order to question him at the Corradino Correctional Facility outside the capital Valletta.
A close friend of MacDonald’s, who had no idea about his sordid past, said: “He was always talking about how he was in the Algarve when Madeleine went missing.
"He would brag about how he sailed a yacht into Praia da Luz but we never thought anything of it.
“We had no idea how evil this man was before he was arrested. Now it seems completely sinister. No wonder the police were so keen to quiz him.”

Quizzed: Roderick MacDonald being arrested in Thailand
MacDonald, of Aldershot, Hants, was first arrested in the Algarve in 2010 and extradited to Australia where he was wanted for the 1998 rape of an eight-year-old.
He got six months’ jail after accepting a plea deal for indecently assaulting the child then fled to Thailand after he was released.
After being deported to Britain by Thai authorities due to his history, MacDonald – previously known as Roderick William Robinson – settled in Brighton, East Sussex.
Despite being put on the sex offenders’ register, he was convicted of molesting two girls, aged five and seven, on a boat at Sussex Yacht Club in 2012.
He fled abroad prior to his sentence and was handed a 12-month prison sentence suspended for two years in his absence.
When he was finally arrested in a dramatic swoop on his flat on the island of Gozo he is believed to have told detectives: “I should have spoken about all this years ago.”
MacDonald is the first person to be questioned in connection with Madeleine’s disappearance since July, when four men were quizzed as arguidos – persons of interest.
They all denied any involvement.
The 11 people due to be interviewed as witnesses are reported to include Robert Murat, his German wife Michaela Walczuch, her ex-partner Luis Antonio and John Hill, the manager of the Ocean Club where the McCanns were staying.
IT consultant Mr Murat – who had his arguido status removed in 2008 when the first Portuguese enquiry was shelved – has said his conscience is clear and he is happy to speak to police again if required.
The Operation Grange squad who will sit in on the interviews, led by Portuguese police, will include team leader Detective Chief Inspector Andy Redwood.

Re: Maddie cops quiz Brit paedo in Malta prison - Mirror 3/12/14
The Mirror seems prepared to print anything Clarence wants.
"Scotland Yard said they would not give a “running commentary” on the investigation but their visit to MacDonald was confirmed by Maltese Government officials."
The visit could have been completely unrelated, not involving Operation Grange detectives. And what is more, the statement by itself is suspicious - these newspapers don't usually go out of their way to confirm things, nor do they usually say that they've confirmed things in their articles. It sounds like somebody telling a very obvious lie, or a very misleading half truth.
Additionally, the Mirror does not state when the visit happened - this could have been early in the investigation, a simple elimination. If it had happened in the last few weeks, surely they would have said so because it would have improved the story.
This - and the 'body in the reservoir' story - seem to me like last-ditch attempts to muddy the waters. And are they connected? Perhaps somebody is trying to imply that MacDonald left the note that the gardener 'found'. Surely if that note existed then the PJ would have kept it on record. Evidence like that doesn't just get thrown in the bin.
If OG are so keen to pin it on McDonald, then I see no reason whatsoever for them to be interviewing "Robert Murat, his German wife Michaela Walczuch, her ex-partner Luis Antonio and John Hill."
I can't wait for this year's Christmas message from Kate and Gerry.

Some forums are still insisting on Murat's guilt and that the Smithman is fake.

MacDonald's un-named "close friend" speaks in the same concise, easy to understand sound-bites that the McCanns' un-named "friend of the family" uses. Anyone would think that they were the same person ...wouldn't they Clarence?
Desperate times in camp McCann - we might even get a sighting next week

Agreed Poe - That is most definitely the pink one piping up there.
What ever the Mirror says is always complete garbage and as usual desperation to divert.
Why do the Mirror bow down and print any old guff that Clarence see's fit. Don't get that. Not now?
Yep - desperate times indeed.

I thought I had read that this guy was proved to have been in N Zealand until 2009. At least it says so in a CEOP case study on page 29 of this PDF doc. With thanks to TheTruthWillOut who posted it here on the Roderick McDonald thread.

Sheer desperation.
They are scared. Very scared. All who is connected.
This sinking ship is going down fast.

Yes Sinking it certainly is and the trial resuming again is no coincidence IMO. Get the trial out of the way first then move in on the real culprits.

Re: Maddie cops quiz Brit paedo in Malta prison - Mirror 3/12/14
If you take all the press reports from the last few days at face value as if they are all 100% truthful and factual, you get that the police have questioned a convicted paedophile in Malta and that they are planning to fly to Faro to ask 7 witnesses, "Did you kill Madeleine?".
Even allowing for all the spin, it looks like Mr MacDonald has already been eliminated from the investigation into Madeleine's murder to me.

I think he eliminated himself by being in NZ in 2007. At least CEOP said he was. Who do we believe? Plus has he not been extradited to the UK so why fly to Malta? Has the extradition not happened yet?
ETA according to the MSM permission to extradite him was granted on 14 Oct 2014. So where is he Malta or UK?

The reaction of the public will be better placed when the Mccanns lose the trial.
Floodgates will then open and a lot of GA's theories will be published.
This will change the perception of the Mccanns once again and steer the public even more into believing they were/are culpable.
As soon as most men and there dogs think the Mccanns were responsible then BOOM arrests will be made.
Redwood always asked for calm.
They had to gradually and slowly change the people's perception of it all.
We are now nearly back to where it all started.
GA's theory was as good as bang on the money (IMO)
GA wins the trial.
SY/PJ immediately carry on from where he left it at.
Imminent arrests of Mccanns and associates.
All in my humble opinion of course.

No doubt the pink ponce still has tentacles in certain places but i would imagine he's more consumed in courting the verruca sucking fish on Brighton pier than clinging on to the sinking ship mccann.
Neither do i any longer believe the editors of these tabloids are in any way contriving to protect that sinking ship.
Stick Mccann onto any story on the front pages and it increases sales by £x thousands !
Thats the main reason why these ridiculous stories appear,to line the pockets of the newspaper Olygogs.
That said i would imagine both mitchell and Redwood and BHH will be getting their hampers as usual this Xmas.
