Peter Wanless Home Office abuse review findings due
A report into how the Home Office, police and prosecutors dealt with claims of organised child abuse in the 1970s, 80s and 90s is being published.
The probe considered whether the Home Office conducted an adequate review last year into information passed on by the late Tory MP Geoffrey Dickens.
It is not thought to have uncovered glaring problems but will confirm files were destroyed in routine procedures.
Campaigners are now expected to call for a more wide-ranging investigation.
BBC home affairs correspondent Danny Shaw says they are unlikely to accept that the findings of former senior civil servant, Peter Wanless - now chief executive of children's charity the NSPCC - settles the matter.
Mr Wanless's conclusions are being published as a wider inquiry into historical child sex abuse gets under way this week despite the resignation of its chairwoman, Fiona Woolf.
In 1983, Mr Dickens wrote to the then Home Secretary Leon Brittan to say he would expose eight public figures who he suspected of child abuse unless action was taken.
His information was said to contain the names of MPs and police officers who were suspected of being child abusers.
In 2013, the Home Office's senior civil servant Mark Sedwill commissioned a review into the department's handling of abuse allegations between 1979 and 1999, including the information provided by Mr Dickens.
It found no record of specific allegations by Mr Dickens of child sex abuse by prominent public figures but revealed the department had "lost or destroyed" 114 files.
In July, the current Home Secretary, Theresa May, asked Mr Wanless to examine this review, amid concerns about its integrity.
A source told the BBC's Newsnight last week that Mr Wanless's review could find no evidence the information compiled by Mr Dickens - the so-called "Dickens' dossier" - still exists.
Lord Brittan has dismissed claims he failed to act appropriately on Mr Dickens' claims as "completely without foundation"
The wider probe into historical child sex is one of a number of inquiries taking place into alleged child abuse, including the extent of abuse by Jimmy Savile at schools, NHS hospitals, care homes and the BBC.
City lawyer Fiona Woolf's resignation as the inquiry chairwoman came after victims' groups cited her social links with Lord Brittan.
Her predecessor in the role, Baroness Butler-Sloss, also resigned, similarly over her links with establishment figures.

Gary Glitter Denies Sex Abuse Allegations **UPDATE GUILTY 16 year sentence**
Martin Brunt has raised his head reporting on Gary Glitter allegations
Sky News transcript only.
The 70-year-old former pop star enters not guilty pleas to ten charges relating to three alleged victims in the 1970s and 1980s
Gary Glitter has appeared in court to face 10 charges of sexual offences against three girls.
The 70-year-old denied the charges, which related to alleged crimes committed in the 1970s and early 1980s, at Southwark Crown Court.
The former rock star, whose real name is Paul Gadd, listened to proceedings at the court using a hearing device.
He is accused of one count of attempted rape and another of indecent assault on one girl under the age of 13 in 1975.
He faces four charges of indecent assault on a second alleged victim when she was under the age of 13 in 1977.
Gadd, from Marylebone, central London, is also accused of allegedly giving the girl alcohol to "stupefy or overpower" her into having sex with him between January and May 1977.
And he faces one charge of unlawful intercourse with a girl aged under 13 between the same dates with the same alleged victim.
The final charge involve two counts of indecent assault on a third alleged victim who was under the age of 16 between October 1979 and December 1980.
Judge Alistair McCreath told Gadd the trial will begin on 12 January and is expected to last three weeks.
Gadd is currently on bail.

NO COVER UP FOUND in abuse review
'No cover-up found' in abuse review
A review has found no evidence that files relating to child abuse by prominent figures were "deliberately or systematically removed or destroyed".
The government asked NSPCC chief executive Peter Wanless to look into how the Home Office handled files alleging abuse from 1979-99.
His report said it was "not possible" to say whether files were removed to "cover up" organised abuse - but it found "nothing to support" such a concern.

IMO cover up after cover up, closing ranks, no names no pack drill comes to mind. Somebody knows where copies of the Dickens Dossier are. This is very interesting

John Mann MP saw Dickens Dossiers - no-one believes they are 'lost'
John Mann MP talking on BBC radio about the Mysterious disappearing trick performed by the Home Secretary on the Dickens Dossiers. Listen Below
John saw the original Dickens Dossiers in the 80's as did many other people he tells us. He confirms though that the Dickens Dossiers were covered by the Official Secrets Act.
He also talked about the highly respected investigative journalist Don Hale who was given a copy by Barbara Castle MP when she was a cabinet Minister. These were stolen from him on threat of prison if he complained by Police Special Branch.
The Plot of this mystery is so ham so unbelievable if submitted as a script it would be cast out by any publisher. Simply no-one believes the Dickens Dossiers are Lost. I mean no-one and this carefully orchestrated drama costing the long suffering tax payer even more of their hard earned cash is just that a drama.
We are asked to believe the unbelievable because the Rt honourable this and the Sir this and the Sir that and a civil servant named Want less tells us so. Can anyone explain why Wanless is head of the NSPCC after a undistinguished career as a cover-up merchant for Michael Portillo?
The People are being asked to believe these fantasy merchants because they are a QC this and MBE that and so we as serfs must kowtow to our Lords and masters and hand them our kids to bugger, rape and murder. And we must stop complaining that we have to pay for all these pointless investigations designed to find no evidence against our Lords and Masters.
Then there is the copy given to Andrea Davison stolen by two thieves which turned up in the hands of Andrew West Manchester Crown Prosecution Service.
We all know that MI5 have the files, lets have a bit of transparency. We know exactly where the files and evidence of CSA is located.

Thanks for posting that Anne.
Problem with MI5 is that half the time they are the ones who lure these dodgy MPs into situations where they can be blackmailed.

Re: Wide range of child and adult abuse inquiries
Some say Thatcher used her 'knowledge' to keep her cabinet in line.
Another review which was pretty much set up to fail from the start.
If those dossiers are still around, which i doubt, then the search and destroy team will be well busy.
Just always reminds me of the quote from David Steel (or his spokesoffice) about cyril smith doing no worse than smacking a few bottoms.
That would probably be a fair reflection of the mentality doing the rounds at that time.

Are you saying that Margaret Thatcher was aware that her Home Secretary was abusing children and did nothing about it?

From the above article this one guy wasn't in her Cabinet and claimed it was consenting adults.
It is a very unfair claim to make against anyone let alone a dead person without any evidence .

The article you referenced doesn't back up your initial comment about Thatcher that she used her "knowledge" to keep her cabinet in line.
The bodyguard Barry Strevens said,
"I am sure he would have given her assurances about the rumours as otherwise she wouldn't have given him the job."

Interesting news today though that the Elm Guest House (Fernbridge) has also now become a 'Homicide' investigation.
Seems to suggest that things are moving on behind the scenes.

Certainly the Police announcing a move towards 'Homicide' is a major step.
Need to be cautious remember the North Wales stuff and Jillings/Waterhouse.Steve Messham went very quiet after the Mccalpine debacle.
Need more than a few witnesses to come out of the woodwork now.

Former Radio 1 DJ Chris Denning admits further charges of sexually assaulting young boys after being arrested under Operation Yewtree
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2834682/Former-Radio-1-DJ-Chris-Denning-admits-charges-sexually-assaulting-young-boys-arrested-Operation-Yewtree.html#ixzz3J4IwWQNg
Judge Alistair McCreeth vacated Denning's trial date and remanded him in custody. He is to be sentenced on December 9.
Mr Ubhey said: 'I am pleased that the guilty pleas mean a potentially lengthy trial has been avoided and the victims will not be required to give evidence.'
Dressed in a grey coat with orange shoulder pads, Denning looked frail and ill as he struggled to hear what was going on in the courtroom.
Denning suffers from a number of illnesses including Parkinson's disease and diabetes. He suffered a heart attack in 2009 and struggles to walk after fracturing his spine.
The former DJ was arrested in April last year by detectives from Scotland Yard's Operation Yewtree in the aftermath of the Jimmy Savile paedophile scandal.
His prosecution follows those of other celebrities such as Rolf Harris, Max Clifford and Dave Lee Travis.
Denning, who left the BBC in 1969, was first convicted for gross indecency and indecent assault in 1974, at the Old Bailey, but escaped imprisonment.
Before his conviction Denning had been working for Jonathan King's newly founded UK Records. King sacked him after the guilty verdict.
Since then Denning has been in and out of prisons in England and Europe, with sentences including 18 months in 1985, three years in 1988, three months in 1996, four years in a Czech prison in 1998, four years in 2006 and five years in jail in Slovakia in 2008.
Denning was part of a group of men, including former BBC radio DJ Jonathan King who preyed on young boys at the Walton Hop, a '70s teenage disco.
All offences related to sexual assaults on young boys or producing child pornography.
According to police some of these offences took place while he owned a computer shop in Dorset in the 1980s.
The boys would be lured to the computer shop, which sold Commodore computers, where he would offer them work and then take advantage of them.
One of the assaults took place in a camper van.
Denning left his London grammar school aged 15 and began his radio career at Radio Moscow after talking his way into the studios while on holiday.
As a young man he boasted of being a globetrotter who drove to India and broadcast from France, Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg, Portugal and Czechoslovakia.
He went on to work for Radio Luxembourg and Radio London before presenting Where It's At with Kenny Everett on the BBC's Light Programme.
In 1964 he was a BBC2 announcer whose voice was the first heard when the TV channel took to the air.
Three years later he became one of the original DJs on BBC Radio 1. After leaving the BBC he worked for record label Decca for two years.
Over the years he has lived in Bracknell, Berkshire, Addlestone and Weybridge in Surrey, and Teddington in South London.
When he was arrested in April 2013 he was living in a homeless shelter.

If Phillip Schofield hadn't been such a twat and done his homework properly then he may have realised he got the wrong Mcalpine, though the RH Lord had his legal reps at the Waterhouse enquiry just in case.
Probably set the cause back months if not years, pulling the attention towards the internet nutters/Gossip again.
All this is linked and good signs that the police know it putting it under one umbrella.
The few MP's speaking out need all our suport now.

Re: Wide range of child and adult abuse inquiries
There is a little more information coming out this morning on the James O'Brien show on LBC regarding the now 'Homicide' enquiries.
(At this point i should say i am no great fan of James O'Brien on account of his unrelenting support of the mccanns every time that subject comes up)
However, when it comes to these 'high level' child abuse investigations he is like a dog with a bone,he has declared certain things in his past experience that may explain that to some extent.
He also gives much credit to Xaro news for their work in this regard.
It transpires that the now Homicide investigations come as a direct result of a call he received from someone he calls 'Nick' who made extremely emotional claims about his past abuse by a VIP peadophile ring including murder carried out by a Tory MP.
Now these claims are being 'aired' on the James O'Brien show right now (12.20pm - 17th Nov).
If you miss it there may be a 'podcast' later

The 'assaults' alleged to have been going on from 1979 throughout the eighties.
Claims to have been picked up with other boys by Chauffer driven cars and taken to luxury town house in London, thought to be Dolphine Square where many MP's reside at the time.Claims to have seen a 12 year old boy strangled by Tory MP.Also claims a Tory cabinet minister and another MP raped him and another boy.
Claims now include three 'murders'.
Labour MP John Mann claims he gave evidence of 'abuse' party's to the MET who did nothing but claims to have been told orders from 'high up' blocked any action.Tom Watson now calling for a National police enquiry.

Re: Wide range of child and adult abuse inquiries
The Dark forces must be very busy closing ranks behind the scenes wondering how to contain this.
If its just the one accuser (Nick -not his real name) then it could be pushed aside like Steve Messham was.
It is almost impossible to imagine that succesive PM's have not known of this (the rumours at least).
There is a different environment for them to deal with as the Social Media just wont shut up and there is an increasing number of 'non nutters' joining in !

The Royal Family and Margaret Thatcher were as much to blame as the BBC for failing to stop Jimmy Savile’s “unspeakable” crimes, Noel Edmonds has suggested.
The television presenter, who worked with Savile at the Corporation, said the whole establishment was implicated for allowing the paedophile DJ to flourish.
“Savile was in deep with the Royals, with Mrs Thatcher, with the hospitals and with Broadmoor.
“There’s a whole establishment that let him into its heart. Not just the BBC.”
