The murder of JonBenet Ramsey

There are some parallels between this case and the McCann case, imo. Note the haste in which the family hires private investigators, lawyers, a media consultant, publicist, criminal profiler plus handwriting analysts.

I think that in both these cases the children were objectified. In the Ramsey case it is more overt because of the beauty pageants but I think there is also evidence that Madeleine was objectified. There are many odd comments from the parents and their friends. And there are some dubious photos as well in my opinion. Neither Kate or Gerry seem to have an idea of what is age-appropriate either. For instance thinking it is okay to leave three children under four in a strange apartment without a babysitter.

P.S. I've now braced myself to read the article. It starts off well (?) by saying that JonBenet disappeared from her home - of course she didn't, she was found there. It then mentions a sexual assault when it's been confirmed that there wasn't one. We know whose handwriting that on the ransom note resembled and it wasn't that of the creepy neighbour Glenn Meyer!

I need a rest after reading that load of junk.

Probably has no relation to the case but nonetheless the guy who was shot dead was involved.

He was close to the truth of the case I think.

Hmm. I think that, as with another case, doubts will always remain that the solution to this case is very close to home.

Indeed. Scrutinize the faces of her parents - they look as cold as ice. And that poor child dressed to the nines and forced to parade around like that. I really think that is a form of child abuse.

Notice how the media (not that one can expect much from the Daily Mail) collude in the objectification. They can't even call the poor girl a child. She was a six year old girl, first and foremost. Why define her by that horrible role her parents carved out for her, almost definitely to play into their narcissism, imo.

Personally I think that her brother was responsible and that his parents covered up the crime, not wanting to lose him too.

He was too young to be charged with anything but presumably he would have been sent to some sort of detention centre.

Maybe the most likely scenario....perhaps motivated by jealousy that his sister got so much attention?

The 'ransom note' was quite immature...again might suggest a young hand.

All I can say is that those 'beauty pageants' for very young children should be BANNED. They are a form of child abuse. Utterly disgusting.

The documentary in which the scenario was mentioned that the delightfully named Burke could have been responsible was extremely plausible.

The writing on the ransom letter was very similar to his mother's but could not be proved conclusively to be so.

It was stated that Patsy was wearing the same clothes on Boxing Day morning when the police arrived as when she came home on Christmas night. If that is true, it means she hadn't gone to bed and had been up all night working out what to do to protect Burke. It's unlikely she was in the habit of sleeping in her clothes!

Does anyone know if these child beauty pageants are still held? They certainly made my flesh creep.

Or she left her clothes on side and put them on quickly in the morning, and maybe had intention of changing later?  Who knows, not defending but anything is possible.

That is true but, as with the McCanns, if that was the only oddity about the case, it could be discounted but there are other things too.

The similarity of the writing on the ransom note to Patsy's was an eye opener in the documentary. It was compared to things she had written on the back of family photographs.

There was old footage of this being pointed out to Patsy herself and she claimed not to remember writing on the photos.

The evidence points towards the murder being committed by someone who was not a random mystery intruder, just as it does with the Madeleine McCann case, imo.

The ransom note was beyond peculiar and surely is exhibit number one?

I would suggest that, as was the case with the McCann family in my opinion, there was a high degree of dysfunction within the family dynamic.

It's on a level I think with the paedophiles named in connection with Madeleine.

I've just started to watch this. An interesting point early on about how vast the house was which emphasises how unlikely it is that a stranger was involved - how would they have known where to find JonBenet?

The top picture in the link must be lookalikes or actors in a reconstruction - it's certainly not of the Ramseys. Well, it is The Sun and, to be fair, this is likely to be a genuine mistake and not a McCann type deliberate lie.

The nonsense about Gary Oliva's claims to be the killer has resurfaced.

Now a self-proclaimed expert has announced that Gary Oliva wrote the infamous ransom letter. I must admit that there is a superficial resemblance but close examination debunks the story.

I'd not heard of this YouTuber until today when Pat Brown recommended him - he doesn't believe the McCanns either.

I've just started watching this video - like him, I think that Burke was responsible.
