The Philpott Family Murders

Channel 5 has just repeated the programme regarding the murder of the Phillpotts' 6 children.

It will repeated again on Freeview channel 44 (Channel 5 + 1) in a few minutes, 9 p.m.

.... A sordid tale of revenge, lies and obsession, so the introduction said.

It wasn't listed as a repeat but the bulk of it certainly was.

I found this by chance; it's an Australian version of the Crocodile Tears Killers programme. It mentions the Philpotts and various other cases.

I watched that GP. He was shifty right from the start. I often think those police press conferences are a means of testing the relatives reactions. They will be very attuned to those signs of fakery. However they do get it wrong sometimes as people can be very good actors, especially those with sociopathic tendencies because they have convinced themselves they are innocent.

The Mc's are terrible actors and I don't believe for one minute that the OG team don't think exactly the same.

Have I understood it correctly from the commentary on the Aussie programme (from about 16.45) that the McCann case is one of those where we were "proved terribly wrong" to have doubts about the parents as they were not involved?

Oh dear! They really should have left the McCanns out of that section.

There are some interesting parts about the Kiesha Abrahams case that I hadn't seen before, relating to her mother being interviewed and subsequently charged.

As for that spear gun case, words fail me.

I didn`t catch the first bit about the Philpotts but the rest was interesting about the front of the brain and also being able to re-train the brain.  

I`ve just done a test to see if I`m a psychopath and I`m not. I only had a low score.

No wonder I`ve not achieved much !!

Nice accurate reporting from the start - Mick is supposedly 50 now but he was born in 1956 and was 55 or 56 at the time of the fire.

As for the proclaimed innocence - my elbow! I accept that he didn't intend to kill the children but the way that he behaved thereafter showed that he didn't give a damn about them.

The new documentary is on tomorrow.

I just did one and I scored 3. Up to 12 is considered negative. At the end it said congrats on not being a psychopath...today.

IMO he set the house on fire, as was demanding but being denied a bigger house for his "enormous" household [which I class as outrageous, both in terms of demands & in terms of producing such a number of off-spring].
And was just too stupid to do it right.

I get nerved at people, who are selfish & stupid, get support on other people's tax money and are never grateful or even slightly content with that.

I thought originally that the idea was to be rehoused as there were 3 adults and 11 children living there in what must have been appallingly overcrowded conditions. It then turned out that one adult and five children had cleared out a few months earlier and Mick planned to get revenge on her by blaming her for the fire.

Oh, really? I haven't followed the case that closely.

Apart from one of Mick's adult sons insisting that his dear old dad is innocent, there is nothing new here.

He lost a large chunk of his benefits income when "wife" number 2 walked out with her five children so he thought that he'd get them back if she was blamed for setting the house on fire.

I didn`t watch it but saw the trailer where the son said his dad is innocent. I wonder what his mum has to say about that.

Yes, I gather that all Mick's former wives / partners suffered at his hands - it's unlikely that any of them think that he's been framed.

This series about what happened next in famous cases is a bit of a let-down, mostly regurgitating old stuff. The one about Shannon Matthews was so boring I couldn't keep awake but the one about Josef Fritzl was interesting because that hasn't been so widely covered in the U K as the other cases.

Next week's programme is about April Jones.

I didn't see this programme at the time - lots of footage I've never seen. Beware, the language is strong.
