I remember hearing about it - her father was a suspect because of the very carefree way in which he behaved at the time.

Have we mentioned him before in view of the vague McCann connection?

This extract makes it sound as if he was jailed for his thoughts!

Six years ago Shaw was jailed for two years after he fantasised about kidnapping toddler Madeleine McCann and downloaded thousands of horrific child sex abuse images.

I've never heard of him, it was aired on the radio this morning with Madeleines name mentioned, which pricked my ears up.

I think it gets a mention in this video (WARNING: Do not attempt to watch unless you are fluent in Scouse).

I've watched a few minutes and can get the gist of it. I may try again later but the links to the Mary Boyle case and Tony Blair have put me off!

I didn't say it was any good. I got it on my Youtube suggestions. It did make me think about the many possible uses of the term "Easter egg" though.

I've had to give up because of the whizzing to one screen shot after another - it's the same problem for me as flashing images.

I'll be interested to know what other meanings there might be of Easter egg!

"Easter egg" is a slang term for something, usually self-referential, inserted in media such as a film or computer game that has nothing to do with the story itself but is merely intended as a kind of reward to the observant. So, imagine if you were watching The Cry and one of the passengers on the plane was reading Looking For Madeleine - that kind of thing.

In that sense the Easter egg pictures, hosted as they were on a relatives Facebook page and therefore not directly offered up to McCann watchers, are something of an "Easter egg" in themselves.

We live and learn.

Something like an in-joke then.

Yes; you put it better than I did.

The Wayback Machine thing is probably another one. Took somebody the better part of ten years to stumble across that.

I think the McCanns have enjoyed quite a few in-jokes at our expense when I think of them hardly able to contain their laughter in some interviews.

I wouldn't have thought that anyone could be charged with failing to provide their Facebook password to the police. Don't the police have the authority anyway to let a computer expert get into the account?

He has now been charged with murder.

A case from 2001 which has never been solved.

Freedom wrote:Many tragic stories of course but the one about the young lad who by chance was at a neighbour's house and so survived while his parents and sister were killed, has remained in my mind.

There was also an older brother who apparently had been kicked out of the family home so he had to live with never having patched up whatever the problem was. He didn't get his life back on track and died young of a drugs overdose.

P.S. I've only now learned that the other brother died tragically young too.
