Re: Madeleine McCann Books
What can it be distracting from? Apart from people here and in other forums, will anyone even have heard of it?

Re: Madeleine McCann Books
for a few days it distracted us and the other lot from the business of working out what happened to Maddie.
but they quickly moved on and so it appears have we now.
it must be the only book in history apparently read by just 2 people - one of them says it's full of mistakes and the other doesnt seem to want to give an opinion.

Re: Madeleine McCann Books
I must admit that I am finding this story very strange, HB. As you say, only two people are known to have read the book - or personal blog sounds like a better description.
Mind you, we should all be used to strange stories by now.

Yes, I must admit to thinking that this is a lot of fuss about what is more like a blog than a proper book.
Don't worry about it - from what we've heard of it, I don't think we're missing anything.

Seems strange though. 2 respected members of the forum have completely differing views.
Reminds me of my differing views last Saturday at the casino. Red or Black.

Well, we can't agree on everything - as long as we remain civil and respect each other's opinions, that's what matters.

Re: Madeleine McCann Books
I was hoping to read some reviews of this book by now but a month later it seems to have fizzled out. I hope the author didnt lose too much money on the venture as it appears to have sold a max 3 copies

I don't think he will have spent too much in printing off a few loose pages to send to people!

Don't knock it - that's nearly as many copies sold as the "definitive" book written by world famous Pulitzer prize winning authors.

Re: Madeleine McCann Books
Three copies? That would be parapono, tigger and me ;-)
BTW my copy doesn't have any loose pages ...
ETA his style is written for the general public - low threshold - and despite quite some impurities, his theory about the "forgotten witnesses", which might proof or at least strongly suggest that GM was missing from the table for 30 minutes between 9:30 and 10:00 pm is quite interesting. As I said: low threshold, so easily accessible and digestible for a large audience, who have not been following this case in detail for 8 years, like us and have been "depending" on the MSM for information. An English version IMO could still be a good idea.

Book concerning scamming of the McCann fund
There is a book out in Spain which contains references to Metodo 3.
http://www.amazon.es/La-Cortina-De-Humo-Actual/dp/8494164988
The English translation of the title is The Smokescreen, the write up translated reads as.
You'll see by the date that it went on sale a year ago but apparently a court action stopped its sale, this as now been lifted,so its available now.

"Investigations of Tamarit Peribáñez and detectives (unrelated to Method 3) reveal everything that hides behind the big corruption cases in Spain and characters, some of which will soon be in the hands of justice. The interested filtration media recording Camarg a, new revelations about the case Gürtel, plundering the coffers of FC Barcelona, the infamous scam to Madeleine McCann, Jordi Pujol Ferrusola Foundation, the Puig brothers, the Mortadelos, spying on the Madrid, pacts of silence ... Book - The Truth is out There
Hi
http://www.thetruthisoutthereblog.com/
Has anyone else read this book? I just finished it and was actually surprised how good it was. I've been reading about the case for years but there was some new stuff I had not read about and I found the chapter on The Irish Connection very interesting. I noticed some mistakes but all in all I find the theory the most believable I have read to date.

Re: Madeleine McCann Books
From an earlier post of Chatelaine's, it's to do with the forgotten witnesses.
The official final report of the Portuguese police, dated the 24th of June 2008 and published on the 4th of August 2008, which was sent to the Attorney General and gave details regarding the investigation, contains a very serious mistake. A mistake so serious that it can be said to be a crucial element of the investigation, the omission of which may have caused the investigation to look in the wrong direction for the last five years. A mistake which had far-reaching consequences, because it may have caused the British investigation to ignore the revealing witness statements of the Smith family from Ireland, and their testimonies therefore did not play any role in the investigation. This Irish family believe they saw Gerry McCann far away from the tapas bar carrying a little blond girl who appeared to be asleep. These statements were never taken serious by investigators only because the time line didn't add up. After all 'it was established' that Gerry McCann was at the table in the tapas bar at the time the Smith family believe they saw him. So have stated all his friends who where at the same table and -as the report says- nobody denied it. This book will prove that this important conclusion is incorrect. In fact there were two witnesses who contradicted the statements of the complete group of friends, including Gerry and Kate's. The statements of this two -could be key- witnesses are in conflict with the Portuguese final report and normally would have been investigated. However there is no prove to be found for that. Unfortunately the mistake seems to appear in all the English translations of that report. The question is: did Scotland Yard notice this mistake? Read the book.

Re: Madeleine McCann Books
Yes the author believes the Smith sighting is Gerry and he explains why in the Irish Connection chapter and also the two witnesses that said Gerry was not at the table between 9.30 and 10.
If you believe the Smith sighting then this book it worth reading.

Thanks, CIA.
I absolutely believe in the Smiths. And glad to see an Authour says so too.
Will get my hands on this book a.s.a.p.
Does it come with a Tony Bennett approved signature too do you know....

Re: Madeleine McCann Books
No I doubt Tony would back this theory at all. As the book does give a theory of what he believes may have happen and even names a person that may have helped. I can see why Tony has went into a different direction but don't understand why he has not considered the authors direction cause it has been where I have been going from reading so much.
