Re: The "German Madeleine McCann" story
I agree.
I would imagine that when Madeleine was 'abducted' (ahem!) TM would have trawled through other cases where children had supposedly been abducted and done some homework.
Given that it was reported (whether correct or not) that Peggy's biological father (and grandparents) did not think that Peggy's killer had been caught is it not somewhat strange that a headstone was put up on a grave?
And given that the conviction was later overturned, that could theoretically have meant that she was still alive.
Unless, of course, other family members were singing from a different hymn-sheet?
And of course, as Kate helpfully states in her book: "the majority of completed child abductions are parental/family abductions, with 16 per cent involving abduction by a stranger."
I see nothing in either of these cases that suggests that they would not have fallen into the statistical norm.

Re: The "German Madeleine McCann" story
I'm sure this has been discussed on here before, but not sure where.
Will stick it here...

Re: The "German Madeleine McCann" story
Yes, it starts on page 19 here.
What a load of nonsense to suggest that this previously unknown outside Germany case has any parallels with that of the McCanns.

The wrong place really for these last 2 articles. Thought we had a thread somewhere on Peggy Knobloch but couldn't find it...

The "German Madeleine McCann" story
I fail to see any link with Madeleine in this story!
The optimist in me still thinks the media make these tenuous links to keep the McCann story in the public consciousness while OG remains quiet (until GA's trial is over?)
It is like the longest build-up to their biggest story ever. And they can't wait.

Apologies, Andrew, you did post that link on the other topic but, although I transferred it over with the other posts, it somehow disappeared.

I didn't post the Sun link anywhere. It only just came out when I posted it above...

How bizarre. I saw it earlier and that's why I transferred it and the earlier posts over. Perhaps someone else posted it.

I would go along with that. With all the McThreats of suing etc in the past then surely the Media can't wait to go on the attack.
All the fawning and favourable nonsense we often see is all an act. They despise them I bet really and literally frothing at the mouth to be unleashed and say what they really want to say.
Imo etc.

Must've been someone else then as it certainly wasn't me.

Re: The "German Madeleine McCann" story
I've just read the link in full.
Hmm, a dead neo-Nazi did it? Loathsome creature as he no doubt was, was he also a child killer?
It will be interesting to hear what the surviving member of the former terrorist cell has to say about the death of a girl.

Re: The "German Madeleine McCann" story
The Mirror's unusually late to jump on the Madeleine bandwagon with this one:

Snipped:
The disappearance of Peggy came to haunt Germans in much the same way that the vanishing of Maddie McCann while on a holiday with her parents in Portugal scarred the collective psyche of people in Britain.

Re: The "German Madeleine McCann" story
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4296708/DNA-blunder-wrongly-linked-neo-Nazi-German-girl-s-death.html
Police DNA blunder led them to wrongly link neo-Nazi killer to unsolved murder of 'German Madeleine McCann'
Peggy Knobloch, nine, went missing while on her way home from school in 2001
Police said DNA near her remains matched that of late neo-Nazi Uwe Boehnhardt
It seemed to connect death with a 2000-2007 racist murder spree in Germany
But it has now emerged that a police DNA blunder wrongly linked the two crimes
Transferred from miscellaneous case topic.

Re: The "German Madeleine McCann" story
What a dreadful mistake to make. I wonder if it will lead to claims of miscarriages of justice from people convicted of crimes who are still alive.
I thought that it didn't sound like the work of a neo-Nazi killer.
