What exactly is it about justice and the rule of law that The Sun finds so offensive?

Was the "Maddie fund" a party to the litigation?

If not, then there is no way that Amaral can wipe out the "Maddie fund".

In fact, the only way that it can be wiped out is if "Maddie's parents" choose to ask "Maddie's fund" to pay the judgement for them.


So shouldn't the headline be "Maddie's parents are thinking of wiping out Maddie's fund to pay their legal expenses"?

A very good point.  The Fund is safe!  the McCanns are 2 out of 6 directors of the Fund. Even if they begged the Board to allow the legal costs of Amaral's success in the Supreme Court etc to be paid from the Fund, the other four directors which includes uncle Brian Kennedy, could say No.  I don't see the McCanns asking for Fund money.  Its possible that Amaral could have a charge put on Rothley Towers so that if it was ever sold the charge for the legal costs would have to be paid from the proceeds.  This would put a stop to the McCanns trading up.

My point was that despite 'The Sun's' hysteria, he has actually claimed very little. I thought that was very dignified. Yes he could take them for everything they have but it looks like he has gone for the balance of the costs after the donations were taken in to account. I Hinksey the 'take every last penny' bit comes from TM's fear knowing their own tricks.
