COPS are urgently hunting a two-year-old girl and four-year-old boy who vanished after being left home alone.
Tiffarah Paul-Wright and Aiale Paul-Wright were last seen around midnight today in Islington, North London
Police had been told the youngsters were home alone when they disappeared.
They are urging anyone who sees the children to call 999 immediately.
A Met spokesman said: "Police in Haringey are appealing for information on the whereabouts of two young children who have gone missing.
"Tiffarah Paul-Wright, two, and four-year-old boy Aiale Paul-Wright were last seen at around 0000hrs on Tuesday, 19 December at an address in Islington.
British law does not actually give a set age on when it is legal to leave your kids at home alone.
The law only states that you shouldn't leave little ones alone at home or in a car, if they could be exposed to risks.
This means that parents can be left to decide if their kids are mature enough to be home alone.
But despite there now being no set age in the law on when children can be left alone, parents can still be prosecuted for leaving them.
If it is found kids have been neglected because there are no adults around, criminal proceedings can be brought against the parents.
And if they are found guilty of neglect, they can face a fine or even a prison sentence.
Advice from the NSPCC says under no circumstances should babies, toddlers or young children be left by themselves.
They add that children under the age of 12 are rarely mature enough to cope in an emergency and should not be left at home alone for a long period of time.
"Officers were made aware that the children were at home alone, but officers visited the address and they were not present.
"Officers are growing increasingly concerned for their welfare."
Anyone with information is asked to contact Haringey Police on 101 or 999 if sighted immediately, quoting reference 17MIS054702/04.

Very ominous sounding - if it's a case of simply wandering out of the house, would they survive the freezing conditions?
Let's hope for a happy ending but children who "disappear from their beds" - whether adults were present or not - don't often turn up safe and well.

Who told police that the children were there alone? Perhaps they were somewhere else.
What do the parents say?
Sounds very strange story to me.

I was about to add that to my last comment.
If it was a neighbour who reported them home alone, he or she could have been mistaken. They may be out somewhere with the parents.

Missing 'home alone' toddlers taken to police station
Two-year-old Tiffarah Paul-Wright and her brother Aiale, four, had not been seen since midnight on Monday at their Islington home.
Two young children who went missing after being left at home in Islington have been taken to a police station in east London.
Two-year-old Tiffarah Paul-Wright and her brother Aiale, four, are currently being cared for by officers after they were taken to the station at about midday on Tuesday.
The Metropolitan Police said the children's mother was taken to hospital for medical treatment at about 10pm on Monday.
Officers then became aware she had two young children and immediately began enquiries to locate them at her home address.
When they arrived there was no trace of the siblings. They were believed to be in the care of an adult, who was known to the children, and attempts were made to trace them.
No one has been arrested over the incident.
