When did Operation Grange actually start - a FOI request by TB. Did it actually start in 2008 with the 'scoping exercise'

ANSWER: These efits were received by the Operation Grange team in September 2008 as part of a dossier of material handed to the MPS by private  investigators that had been working on the case.  The MPS will not comment on whether identifications have or have not been made however the efits do  not form part of any current appeal.

I believe this all started much earlier than some will have you believe and that Rebekah Brookes forced the PM to open Grange.  I believe it started back then.

She said officials had continued to work “behind the scenes” in the search for Madeleine, adding: “Although it might not always be in the public eye, the British authorities have never given up on their work to find Madeleine.”

Given this was the case and from the op Task debrief the MET were always involved is it not a natural succession to  given it a operations name.

Madeleine McCann went missing in 2007 but Operation Grange did not commence until May 2011. Operation Grange received the e FITs as part of a large dossier of material during a handover from the private investigators in October 2011. This was subsequently worked through and assessed, and the e FITS formed part of that process.
