Smithman is alive and well I am sure. I cannot say "just" for something so grievous, but TB has been attacking the wrong Smith family, using details of the wrong family to enforce his opinions. imo

Ok,so I believe he also used the Smiths child in his thoughts/ writings is she wrongly named as well?

Even if he had the correct family, what was the relevance of Mr Smith's business interests to whether or not the family saw a man carrying a child on May 3?
Bennett argued that as his business interests were suspect (which he never proved) then his other statements were suspect. Pathetic for a so called 'researcher' that some people trust. I'm wondering how accurate was his work on the other cases he has been involved with like the Lee baulkwell death.

Why would anyone create socks and have conversations with them. In my world, that alone, is deleted territory. (Unless done for the laughs). With the rest of his antics being generally off the scale.

I suggest you wander back from whence you came Aquila.  If TB has got it wrong then it should be obviously put out there and a wrong rectified.

He can of course rebut what  Tigger blogged and say why on his forum.  Sorry if you don't like it, and it has everything to do with what happened to Madeleine McCann, so you obviously think it is ok for him to keep trashing the Smith family...........and not even the right one?

I hope people on this forum realise that I stick up for them and appreciate their posts on the case. I wish the new forum well and hope that good things come from discussing the disappearance of Madeleine McCann is the primary objective.

I've already amended my above post. I'll take my leave and wish you all the very best (and that's a genuine wish) in finding what happened to Madeleine. I have no wish to disrupt this forum and shall continue to read posts that are about Madeleine.

Congratulations Tigger, this shows what meticulous research can do.

This is very important, not for the purpose of discrediting TB, but to put right the misconceptions he is putting out about the Smiths. His method of undermining them is to cast aspersions on the character of Martin Smith - prove he's lied about one thing and it's a natural extrapolation to believe he's lied about other things, I.e., the sighting.

But you have proved he has not told any untruths about the golf business, because it isn't him.

Thereby strengthening the case that Mr Smith and his family have been truthful in all matters.

This is the point that aquila misses when she says this:

It's not about trashing Tony, it's about correcting false information before it sends us on false leads to incorrect conclusions, as it is certainly this which will stop us finding out what happened to Madeleine McCann.

I hope Tony will re-trace all his posts on Mr Smith and the golf business and correct them to avoid incorrect conclusions about Mr Smith's character. A quick glance over there shows he hasn't so far. This is dangerous as it is not the truth, and the truth is what we all strive for in this case.  It's elusive enough as it is without sloppy research chucking more spanners in the works.

I don't care what anyone else says, the smiths are genuine and I for one hope they act on the disgusting smears made, they are keeping quiet for a reason, this case isn't a whitewash and mr smith will be a key witness at any trial that may occur.

The Smiths, to me, seem like the most honourable people in this whole sorry saga. Yet TB could not abide anybody arguing against his so called 'research' into them and the 'facts' as he perceived them.

We can hope. And he should hope too and act. IMO without correction, it could well turn out to be a libel trial. Well, it would, if it was my case to be libeled.

What I can't understand is why TB is so intent of rubbishing the Smith family?

Everything that's available to read on Martin Smith gives no indication of him being anything other than an honest man who is well thought of in his community. There is no way he would tell his children to lie, especially in such a serious matter as a missing child.

My own opinion is that he and his family definitely did see a man carrying a child that night. I just have doubts that it was GM.

I'm not up to speed on what TB has done, but for what I can gather he has given false information about someone called Martin Smith who is not 'the' Martin Smith. Am I right?
