According to someone from Bristol who's posted on fb, it's brother and girlfriend who have been arrested.

Interesting.

I'm sure the Dad or Uncle said they have not been told who was arrested.

I think they would know if it's the brother and his gf though.

There is a picture of the brother out searching, in the Mirror or Mail ,when was that ,before the  arrests? With his hat and stick I think,touching a young boy on the shoulder.

So are we talking about the lad in the first video when he is comforting the distraught dad ?

That's the one I thought of but there has been a lack of information about family members so there may be others that we don't know about.

In the video a family member states the father is unable to search due to his emotional state.

February 18: Becky stays overnight at a friend's house.

February 19: She returns to her home in Crown Hill, St George, Bristol, at around 11.15 am. She left home with her phone, laptop and tablet computer but did not tell friends or family where she was going, or take extra clothing.

February 20: The teenager is reported missing by her family at 4pm.



Feb 19th - family had no idea where she was going because she left when others were not at home or did not answer when asked ?
Did anyone ask? How much freedom was she allowed ? Am sure police would have asked these qs immediately.

Last seen 11.15 am. Does anyone know how much later she left?

Regardless of the above, why did people wait until late afternoon the following day to report her missing?
Yes she is 16 and yes off school for half term break, but this is 24 hrs or maybe more since any family saw or heard from her.

The answer to this lies in family or friends imo unless she has been naïve enough to meet a stranger from the internet

From the Mirror:

Police refuse to disclose identity of arrested pair

Police have declined to say whether or not Becky knew the arrested pair, whether they were linked to the properties being searched, or if they had been in her home when she disappeared.

Detective Superintendent Mike Courtiour said: "I'm not in a position to discuss in any detail the investigative actions we are taking.

"This is a very sensitive investigation and I'm not in a position to talk about the identity of those in custody."

DS Courtiour confirmed that Becky's body had still not been found though an intensive search continued.

He said: "We cannot say where Becky is at the moment. We are still searching for Becky.

"There is sufficient information available to us to justify the arrests of those in custody."

Let's hope that the Welsh EVRD dogs do their work and find Becky's body quickly.

I do not think it is usual for names to be given to media until charges laid.

God bless her family... this is a sensitive investigation imo because family involved.

Yes I think he had cancer of the liver. I think the dogs that are being used in this case are the same ones that were in Portugal last summer.

The highly trained victim identification dogs from South Wales Police were drafted in to search her home in Bristol.
The dogs were first seen being led to the back of the house into the garden by officers wearing blue and white overalls.

Eddie passed away, indeed. I thought bone cancer, but at any rate something serious.
It's good to see, though, that they're still using Springer Spaniels in the U.K.
I tried to buy one [an English or a Welsh] here in France, but they're not exactly popular and breeders have given up ...

What sad, sad reports. One always hopes for a better outcome when a child goes missing. Especially hopeful at teenager age when they have 'strops' and moods and arguments ending in a short anger-fuelled disappearance.

Police say it is a "sensitive" case, and op's say that means family involved. What a dreadful experience for all those involved, my heart really goes out to her parents and siblings, how they cope I just don't know.

Trying to catch up with developments.

Would it be fair to suggest that further to my earlier thinking that the people in custody were the ones at Becky's house after step Mum went to hospital?

I'd also imagine the police are keeping names out of it because there are extensive numbers of family members and are trying to avoid a fallout.

I fear this case will become a terrible mess though.
