I can't help wondering what might be the "private information" that he doesn't want anyone to know.

What the f!Sir Cliff said to date the case had cost him £3.4m including spending on lawyers and media representatives.
Must be down to his last £100 million poor chap.

Re: Sir Cliff Richard
Privacy claim goes in favour of Cliff. Substantial damages will be paid. Wonder if he will donate it to charity?
ETA Not certain if the case was tried on the basis of him being named or on the basis of the BBC coverage but it just shows you that if you are an anonymous member of the public, you can be the subject of a news story besmirching your reputation every 15 minutes, but if you are rich and famous, you are somehow deemed more important.
ETA Damages set at £210,00 which actually isn't a lot in this day and age. No mention of costs being awarded. Of course SYP have already paid him £400,000 in damages.

Re: Sir Cliff Richard
I take this to mean that the BBC admits that it was in the wrong!

There's mention of the sum awarded in compensation.
The BBC was ordered to pay Sir Cliff £210,000 in damages and later agreed to cover his £850,000 legal bill, after a High Court judge ruled that the BBC infringed Sir Cliff’s privacy rights “without justification”.
