Re: The April Jones murder
Andrew: according to the book, it was a suggestion from a police liaison officer early on in the investigation that April's father should keep a diary to keep track of important details and also that it would help to write about his feelings.
There was no contact with or from the Missing People charity until January 2014.

A diary imo is slightly different to a published book.
Still think Missing People had a large hand in it all.
Sorry.

Who knows Andrew but I certainly feel that the book is a lot more honest than an infamous other one which is more of a novel than real-life.
I don't know if I would deal with a tragedy of this magnitude by writing a book but others have done so - the parents of Holly Wells (one of the Soham girls), Sarah Payne and James Bulger for example - and, if it has helped them to come to terms with what happened, then it's a good thing.

Agreed that this is probably the reason to write things down. If in addition it raises awareness and funds can be raised to help a cause, it serves a good purpose.
I have not read it but imagine it is a very different kettle of fish to the book by Kate McCann which was full of an agenda and not a hidden one at that.

I don't know how April Jones' mum can remain in the same room as Kate McCann, let alone allow herself to be photographed with her.
Peter Lawrence I will reserve judgement on.

I can understand that. If I had read only the mainstream media coverage on the McCann case, I would have every sympathy for them.
I'm assuming that the same lack of information applies to everyone who the McCanns have appeared with in their efforts to make themselves appear the same as genuine victims of crime.

Thankfully it looks as if we shall be spared the sight of the McCanns this year.
April died in 2012, not 2013 as on the link.

I wouldn't talk too soon, the McCanns seem to be addicted to the limelight and taking it away from anyone else who is running for their chosen charities. Not that I class "Missing People" as a charity more of a pension fund for its directors.
If the McCanns don't run tomorrow it will be a miracle, and maybe they have got the message that people are sick to the back teeth of seeing them and hearing about them, we'll have to see what tomorrow brings.

Oh, sorry about that I got my wires crossed, as usual. I thought we were talking about the Marathon tomorrow, that'll teach me for not reading the other posts before commenting.

A new programme about the case on Channel 5, dealing with events afterwards for the family.

Re: The April Jones murder
I recorded it, hope to watch tonight. I do find this sort of programme very difficult to watch in one go, often need to take a break from it for some minutes. Dreadful case which I followed closely at the time.

Re: The April Jones murder
I noticed that April's father Paul didn't contribute at all to this programme but he has done for others.
Next week's programme at the same time is about this awful case.

More sadness for the family. It's from 2018 but I hadn't heard of this until now.

Re: The April Jones murder
Just watched this.
So harrowing when no body is ever found. Reminds me of the boy that was never found in the moors murders. I think his name was Keith.
I was left wondering why Bridger's house wasn't searched more thoroughly initially. Those blood spots would have shown up.

Re: The April Jones murder
The Moors boy was Keith Bennett. There are recent claims that bones have been found but they aren't confirmed yet.
I thought that the fragment of skull found in Bridger's house was confirmed to have been April's but the programme said otherwise.
