WAS MADELEINE MCCANN SLAIN BY A SERIAL KILLER?
CHELSEA HOFFMAN
The search for Madeleine McCann has been scaled down drastically, but the parents of the missing child have expressed that they will never give up their own search for her. Now, there is new movement in the missing child’s case. The Mirror reports that an admitted child murderer is expected to be quizzed about the disappearance of the little girl, who has been missing now for over eight years. Meanwhile, social media continues to play a large role in the discussion (and speculation) that surrounds this case.
Authorities investigating the disappearance of little Madeleine want to interrogate a man known in the media only as Silvio S., who reportedly confessed to stalking, kidnapping, and murdering a little boy. He is also accused of kidnapping and murdering a second child — which would make him a serial child murderer. The German man was arrested last week, making him an ideal candidate to be questioned about Maddie’s case. Scotland Yard authorities are reportedly requesting that authorities in Germany check the man’s passport to determine whether or not he’s ever traveled to Portugal. The Daily Star reports that the man’s evil deeds had been figured out after the decomposing body of a child was found in the trunk of his car.
The thought that McCann could have been slain by a serial killer has never been a far-fetched theory, but users of social media remain more suspicious of the child’s parents than any supposed child kidnapper or murderer. That’s because Kate and Gerry McCann were the only persons to ever be declared suspects in Maddie’s disappearance, back during the early days of the investigation surrounding her case. Furthermore, evidence against the two parents have long been publicized, which indicate that they know more about what happened to her than they admit. Nonetheless, they’ve never been charged with a crime, nor have they ever been arrested in association with Madeleine’s disappearance.
Madeleine McCann vanished on May 3, 2007. Her parents, Kate and Gerry McCann, left the 3-year-old girl alone with her two infant siblings in their holiday apartment while they enjoyed dinner and drinks with some of their friends. This detail in the disappearance of the toddler has long been a topic of scrutiny, with numerous people calling for the McCanns to be charged with child negligence. What also attracted scrutiny was the behavior of the parents during the course of the investigation, along with forensic evidence which seemed to indicate that they were involved.
For example, sniffer dogs found traces of bodily fluids, blood, and human decomposition (or cadaverine) in the trunk of the McCann’s rental car, as well as several points in the apartment inhabited by the family during their holiday in Portugal. Also suspicious, the same sniffer dogs found the scent of death on Kate McCann’s clothing, and on one of the friends that had dined with them at the tapas bar on the night of Maddie’s disappearance.
To this day, a large and ever-growing group of people believe that Kate and Gerry McCann had something to do with the disappearance and presumed death of little Madeleine, but these people are usually referred to as conspiracy theorists in the U.K. mainstream media, even though the forensic evidence has been published for years, which seem to lend credence to the suspicion against them.
Over the course of the past eight years, authorities have relentlessly sought various persons of interest in hopes of proving that Madeleine McCann was abducted by someone who took advantage of the unattended child, though Maddie was the only one to go missing (and not her infant siblings). Meanwhile, numerous people — including Portuguese detectives — believe that the only evidence in this case points to Kate and Gerry McCann. So what happened to this little girl? Was she kidnapped and murdered by a German serial killer? Was she kidnapped by an opportunistic predator on the night that her parents left her completely unsupervised in their rental apartment? Or do her parents know more about what actually happened to her? This case remains one of the biggest international mysteries of the past decade, and detectives are still no closer to closing the case than they were in the beginning.

She got the fact that the parents were the only people ever to be declared suspects wrong. Did she not hear about Murat then?
ETA Never heard that cadaver odour was found on one of the Tapas lot.

A GERMAN child murderer could be be grilled by detectives investigating the disappearance of Madeleine McCann, according to reports.
The 32-year-old, known as Silvio S, confessed to killing two children after he was arrested last week.
Police in Germany are also said to be making enquiries into whether he is also responsible for the disappearance of a five-year-old girl Inga Gehricke branded the German Madeleine McCann after she vanished from a family barbecue about 50 miles from Berlin in May this year.
They are known to be looking into possible links to other possible children.
The suspect was arrested on Thursday. The body of a child was found in his car.
It is thought to be that of Mohamed Januzi, who was kidnapped from a refugee registration centre in Berlin.

Silvio S reportedly said he had buried six-year-old Elias in an allotment. The fate of the little boy, who disappeared without a trace from outside his home in Potsdam, had made headlines across Germany.
Madeleine was just three years old when she went missing while on holiday with her parents Kate and Gerry in Praia Da Luz in May 2007.
Reports in Germany suggest Scotland Yard have been in touch with their German counterparts to see if Silvio S was in Portugal at the time.
Silvio S, who was born in the former communist state of East Germany and worked as a tiler, would have been 24 at the time.
Former police psychologist Adolf Gallwitz feared that further deaths cold come to light during the investigation.
"We're talking about the end of a series, " he said.
