When Theresa May is involved you know something stinks.

The McCanns should have been arrested for neglecting their children for a start. If you dont want to be with your kids on holiday, don't bloody take them.

A trained dog detected death in that apartment, this dog brought from the US detected death in the kid's bedroom and downstairs behind a sofa where blood was found.

The dog had helped solve 200 cases in the US so it had form.

Where did that minifridge go from the apartment, and why did Gerry have an empty file in the sex offender system

What is scary is the UK gov and police always tried to protect the McCanns from day one.

It'll be interesting to see whether it gets wooshed later.

A BANNED book accusing Madeleine McCann’s parents of covering up her death will go on sale across Europe

Judges yesterday ruled that the ex detective was entitled to write it.

Goncalo Amaral, 57, had been ordered to pay doctors Kate and Gerry McCann £395,000 in damages after they said his claims in his 2008 book The Truth Of The Lie left them “devastated and crushed”.



But last night the book was set to return to the shelves after three Portuguese appeal court judges overturned the decision.



They tossed out the McCanns’ libel claim and ordered them to pay full legal costs of the three-year hearing.

The McCanns have instructed lawyers to appeal against the new ruling to Portugal’s Supreme Court.

Clarence Mitchell wrote:“It is a matter for Kate and Gerry’s lawyers to deal with”

But that will not stop publishers rushing copies of the book into shops next week.

Mr Amaral’s lawyer Miguel Cruz Rodrigues said: “This decision not only means my client hasn’t got to pay the €500,000 to Madeleine McCann’s parents but equally importantly also allows him to express his freedom of speech and the chance to republish his book.’’

Mr Amaral led the hunt for three-year-old Madeleine for five months after she vanished from her parents’ Portuguese holiday apartment on May 3, 2007.

He was sacked from the investigation after criticising British officers with whom he was supposed to be liaising.

After retiring from the police he wrote his bombshell book and an accompanying TV documentary in which he accused the McCanns of faking Madeleine’s abduction to cover up her accidental death in their apartment.

Yesterday Lisbon appeal court judges described the his book as “a legitimate exercise in the right to express an opinion”.

Last night the couple’s lawyer Isabel Duarte said she was “disappointed” but “not surprised”.

She said the McCanns, from Rothley, Leics, had not received damages so did not have to repay any cash to Mr Amaral.

The couple would not have to appear at the Supreme Court whose ruling could take several months.

Their spokesman Clarence Mitchell said: “The process is not over yet.

“It is a matter for Kate and Gerry’s lawyers to deal with.’’

A pal said: “They are seething over the ruling and fear that Mr Amaral may now repeat all the slurs.’’

A retired police officer in Portugal has won his appeal against a court ruling that he libelled the parents of Madeleine McCann.
Kate and Gerry McCann sued ex-police chief Goncalo Amaral, who led the search for their daughter, following claims he made about them in his book.
The verdict means his book criticising the McCanns can now be sold again.
They were awarded £358,000 damages by a Portuguese court after the libel case. They plan to challenge the new ruling.
Last year a court ruled against Mr Amaral, the retired detective who first led the investigation into three-year-old Madeleine's disappearance from a holiday apartment in the Algarve in 2007.

It ordered the seizure of all copies of a book he wrote suggesting that Kate and Gerry McCann were involved in Madeleine's disappearance.

Book ban

On winning that libel action, Mr and Mrs McCann pledged to plough the 500,000 euros awarded to them into the search for their daughter.
They welcomed the accompanying ban on the book which they said was undermining that search.
After the appeal court decision, the book is now set to be back on the shelves soon.
In a statement, its publisher welcomed the verdict, noting that it cited Mr Amaral's constitutional right to express his opinion.
A lawyer for the McCanns said they intended to appeal against the latest decision and seek to bring the case before Portugal's Supreme Court.

I wouldn't think the book will be available in the UK because this decision, though welcome, is a matter of Portuguese law, not English law.

I expect the book would be considered libellous in the UK, where proof of allegations is necessary.

But I'm willing to admit I'm wrong on that if anyone on here knows otherwise.

It hasn't proved to be libellous in a court of law here has it?  Who is to say what we can and cannot read, unless courts say otherwise surely?

That leaves all those other country in the world where the writ of British law does not apply. USA might prove a good market.

I suppose much would depend on whether it was illegal to read in the UK, or just to sell it. Amazon USA might be willing to sell to someone in UK, whereas Amazon UK could not.
I seem to remember that Amaral's earlier difficulty was finding a UK firm willing to publish and sell.
