Re: McCanns lodge legal bid
Had a quick look at that FB link. Can't see anything about a 'crowd-fund appeal' though...
Apparently the house (Murat's) is on the market for 700k Euro's. Was intrigued how much of that Stephen has actually raised...

I haven't seen that either.
There appear to be genuine photos of Casa Liliana taken by an "undercover agent"........

Re: McCanns lodge legal bid
Just looking at that Facebook page. Says that Kate was seen looking over the fence towards the back driveway during her 'visit' to Luz a month ago. Hmm, ok then.
As for Birch's theory, it seems plain to me he's done himself no favours by going public with the location of the 'grave'. Anyone can go online and see this, so surely any remains that may have been there in the remote possibility that Birch is right will have been moved a long time ago.
If there was ever a body there, it surely won't be now.

Nice bit of libel by the indepentent.
Madeleine McCann: Kate and Gerry McCann appeal against former detective who claims they killed Madeleine
Madeleine McCann: Kate and Gerry McCann appeal against former detective who claims they killed Madeleine
Decision for former detective Goncalo Amaral to pay McCanns £380,000 in damages overturned in supreme court
The parents of Madeleine McCann, Kate and Gerry McCann, have begun a new legal bid against the former detective who claims they covered up their daughter’s death.
The seven-year battle between the parents and Goncalo Amaral recently saw Mr Amaral ordered to pay the couple £380,000 in libel damages following the allegations the detective made in his book, The Truth of the Lie. But the decision was overturned by three judges at Portugal’s Supreme Court.
The couple’s Portuguese lawyer, Isabel Duarte, told The Sun the McCanns were “disappointed” by the ruling. “The judges decided he was entitled to write a book the court calls a literary book. They are saying he has the right to express his opinions,” she added.

Thousands raised for officer who claimed McCanns faked abduction
Ms Duarte said the appeal was sent to the court on 23 May. If Ms and Mr McCann lose the latest battle, they could face a large pay-out to Mr Amaral, which would drain the public donations in the Find Maddie Fund which currently stands at £750,000. The loss would also hinder their on-going search for their daughter who they believe may still be alive.
Mr Amaral, 57, headed in investigation to find Madeleine in 2007, and the following year accused the McCanns of faking her kidnap. He was sacked after criticising the British police's efforts during the investigation.
More than £50,000 was raised in support for the Portuguese detective, donated via a Go Fund my page, after he was ordered to pay damages to the McCanns.
Madeleine disappeared from the apartment where the family were staying in the Algarve on 3 May, 2007, while her parents were dining nearby.
Kate, 48 and Gerry, 47 were cleared of any wrongdoing in 2008, when the case was closed. Mr Amaral released his book three days after Portuguese authorities closed the inquiry.
British police are still investigating her disappearance.

Re: McCanns lodge legal bid
Just some links to newspaper articles and a lot(25) pictures of Casa liliana. The property looks run down and dated with the gardens particularly left to take on a neglected look. Birch claims a collection of vases and figurheads are a memorial marking madeleines burial site!! Even the pool looks very green with Algy and looks not to have been cleaned for some time. Inside is better and it could reflect Jenny Murats age and looking after a large home can be burdensome for the elderly. Just an after thought of my own......Robert Murat you would suppose 8s reasonably well heeled now after his newspaper lible wins .....it doesnt look as if he is helping his mother with property matainance....and he would know the value of presenting property well......just my thought.

Re: McCanns lodge legal bid
So why have the MSM waited a week (or slightly less) to report on this story I wonder....
They would of known about it the minute we did. If not slightly before.
Still waiting for the Express, Mirror, Times, Metro etc to get it out as well.

Yes, why have they waited almost a week? What are they holding back for - something else about to happen that's not-so-welcome news?

Ooh yes please. Maybe the appeal is about to be rejected and they can't report the rejection without having first reported the appeal

Yes - that's a very good point, froggy.
Probably exactly what's happened. Always a reason and all that... And that sounds as good as any.
Cheers.

Nope. The decision was overturned at the appeal court. K&G have appealed to the supreme courtThe Independent wrote:

And they wonder why they couldn't sell the print edition

Well I suppose you know times are really hard for the McCanns when they have to wheel out a Z-lister bimbo to fight their corner.
And it took some time and persuasion to do that as well by the looks of it.

Re: McCanns lodge legal bid
I just hope mr Amaral and his aide manage to order payment of all damages done to him by the seizure of his assets and all that. Because otherwise, don't know exactly how it works over there, I fear it to become a bit, like the Dutch saying goes (or, like Van Gaal would probably say), a prayer with no end.

So the Independent have changed their headline and replaced the word 'killed'... as was expected.
Express article (as was expected as well)

I have posted separately about the last paragraph of The Express article.
Clare Mitchell, a spokeswoman for the McCann family, said: “The case against Mr Amaral remains in the hands of Kate and Gerry’s lawyers. We are not commenting on an on going court case.”
