Sounds a fair summation to me Bluebell, but thinking of it in relation to the McCann case, hardly any anecdotes have sneaked out about that family and you couldn't be better known in the press than them.
The couple I mentioned on The Verdict thread are from the area yet the female aged about 36 and who is actually from Rothley, knows nothing about them.
Imagine my excitement when chatting casually after she had housesat my dogs, I discovered where she is from originally. Imagine my disappointment when she turned out to know very little about the case ( for that read not interested) nor did she know any local gossip.

The mother of a missing serviceman has called on police to search more buildings in the area where he disappeared.
Corrie Mckeague disappeared after a night out in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, on 24 September.
Nicola Urquhart said an area opposite where he was last seen on CCTV had not been searched.
Suffolk Police said "extensive" searches had been made.
Live updates on this and other Suffolk news
What do we know about Corrie Mckeague's disappearance?
Mrs Urquhart, from Dunfermline, said she appreciated police are doing an "incredibly difficult" job.
But why they would not search an area a stone's throw from where he vanished "does not make sense", she said.

Nicola Urquhart said she wants the buildings opposite where Corrie Mckeague was last seen searched
"There's a huge amount of buildings and shops there which he could be in," she said.
The camera which spotted him walking into the "horseshoe" area - a loading bay - rotates on a three-minute timer.
Mrs Urquhart said her son could have walked across to the back of shops off Short Brackland without being seen by this camera.
Had he walked in any other direction he would have been picked up by one of the other cameras which are fixed, she added.

Mr Mckeague was seen going into the "horseshoe" area but never coming out again
Mr Mckeague, a gunner at RAF Honington, was last seen on CCTV at about 03:25 BST.
He had been on a night out in the town with friends from the airbase.
When asked if the buildings had been searched, Suffolk Police told the BBC: "Police and partners have carried out extensive searches to locate Corrie.
"Since the start of the inquiry officers have visited homes, businesses and other properties in Bury St Edmunds to search and carry out inquiries to try to find him.
"This has included door-to-door visits, searches and the distribution of leaflets."
A freedom of information request revealed that more than £26,000 had been spent on the investigation so far.

I don't know but it's certainly bizarre that they haven't been searched, that's for sure... scratch

Makes you think the police know what happened and are trying to do a whitewash.

I argued this at Websleuths but I was in a minority of one. Virtually everyone thought is was a lot of money. One poster over there pointed out that Suffolk Police keep detailed cost PDFs on their site so had a look.

They have a standing contract for Police car tyres (among dozens of others) that amounts to around the same! Yes, almost 30K on car tyres. I can believe that knowing the cost of tyres but it highlights to me just how silly low 26k seems for a whole investigation for 3 months...Of course I pointed out that the UK had already spent upward of 750k per month on the McCann case but that's "different" and "understandable".

Yes it does seem ridiculous, TTWO.

That's like what, just over £8.5k a month and if you factor in manpower salaries etc then it works out at about 4 people (working on it). So if that's the case then I can now understand the 'uproar' if you like about limited resources etc that the family have been saying......?

Happy New year all!

Just been looking at the Find Corrie FB page and in the last hour Nicola has said there will be a update tomorrow with press. One comment that was posted (comments on the post now turned off) talked about a rumour of a barmaid being involved with Corrie and is now providing info? Not sure if that will turn out true but Nicola did say she is feeling positive (indicates Corrie is alive?).

Edit:

Well...this isn't good. Nicola has just put up another post to say uncle Tony will be just doing a New Year update to say where they are at this point...and that she will be on This Morning.

This isn't what she said in a previous comment..... scratch

I think the JustGiving donations page ends tomorrow (?) so perhaps they are hoping for a media blitz, £52000, This Morning and an Uncle T press release all on the same day !!

Will look out for this new Uncle T update. Thanks, TTWO.

There are also a couple of updates from the 30th and 31st Dec, on the Find Corrie website that not seen before. One has an interesting diagram of the horseshoe/CCTV set-up.

Sadly what are the chances he is still alive ? My opinion (not worth much of course) is that Uncle T's early theories were made influenced mainly by emotion, not practicality.
I don't believe Corrie could leave the Horseshoe without CCTV catching him. I think he did. From the start I think it is possible, that he attempted to get back to base, maybe hitched a lift (passing HGV etc) partway and has then met with a traumatic accident.
I believe 90% of missing young men after a night out end up this way. Crying or Very sad
Good on the family for keeping it the news until he is found though and I shall keep following this case.

A shocking case from Peterborough, with a strange twist.

The families of two best friends mowed down in a tragic hit and run yesterday (thu) paid tribute to them. The pair are understood to have been on holiday together in Amsterdam the night before they tragically died in the collision. Both Mr Northam and Mr Fletcher are understood to have worked at drainage company Clarksteel Group in Yaxley, Cambs. A spokeswoman for the firm said they could not comment on the men’s deaths but said their thoughts are with the families involved. She said: “We are not able to make any comment at the moment but we understand they are both local and we don’t want to cause any distress to the families. “Our thoughts are with both of those young men’s families but formally they haven’t been identified so on that basis we don’t wish to many any further comment.” Following the fatal collision, the driver is said to have fled the scene through nearby fields before dumping a suitcase containing £100,000 cash in a nearby garden. He also lost his work boots in the meantime and is believed to have broken into a property in Yaxley, Cambs, bare foot where he stole a pair of trainers.

So Tony has posted a new update. Below is the information about the PI team: https://www.facebook.com/groups/307450186284715/permalink/361992937497106/

I am delighted to be able to tell you that we have been able to secure the services of an Elite team of specialists (some of whom are colleagues from the organisation I used to work with) to support our efforts to find Corrie. The team will be working hard to provide the best possible assistance to the Suffolk Police Major Investigation Team.
McKenzie Intelligence Services (MIS):

MIS possesses a unique depth and breadth of experience in covert, clandestine and overt operations across the world.
MIS has the capability to leverage the full spectrum of Intelligence collection capabilities and incorporates the very latest data acquisition and analytics software in order to accelerate the Intelligence cycle.
The Company has maintained lasting, successful relationships with some of the world’s largest Insurance and fraud investigation organisations and has successfully supported a number of national and international, complex missing persons cases.
The Company has a detailed understanding of relevant UK legislation governing collection activities and data management.

The Team has expert capability in the following areas:
Data collection, collation & analysis
IMINT - Imagery Intelligence
HUMINT - Human Intelligence (Agent targeting and Handling)
SIGINT - Signals Intelligence, Technical/Communications Intelligence
Surveillance - Technical and Physical
As the team spin up, you may notice a short period of time where Nicola and myself are less available or responsive to private messaging and comments etc. we appreciate your understanding and patience as we go through this brief transition process. Please be assured that we will still see all of your posts and messages as normal though.

So supported complex missing person cases but not done it alone before? Will see how this goes I guess...

Nice one for posting that up, TTWO. It looks like that 50k won't go very far then with all those experts on board....

Just read a rumour that Corrie's two brothers have gone on holiday. Not sure if true but I find that odd in these circumstances.

Yes, that does appear to be slightly odd at this moment in time. I hope and I'm sure there hasn't been a 'misuse' of funds there.

And I suppose to those who subscribe to the 'Corrie going AWOL' (which I personally don't) theory then it might be of interest to know exactly where they are going on said holiday.

Apparently they have gone to Amsterdam. They are tagged in a Facebook post or some such? Not sure what this means or how to find it myself...

It is interesting that a few over at Websleuths having dismissed AWOL have now admitted they are starting to wonder.

A jolly to Amsterdam then. Probably a group of them and someones tagged the brother/s into a comment or a photo. "here in Amsterdam with Darroch etc"

Well maybe if Corrie did go AWOL then he just might be sat in one of those cafes over there chilling out.

But still can't see it myself but interesting then that people are changing their opinions as you say...
